Note: I said the jackstands are Harbor freight. Later I realized I got these Duralast stands from Autozone. Both Duralast and Daytona Stands have held up well for me in the past and I recommend them.
@LivingLikeGray quite the opposite lol. Im a anti tool truck man. I'll find the original manufacturer of their tools and buy it for cheap. Harbor freight is a good friend
I get ya. I have a harbor freight tools I just usually only buy “static” tools from them. And typically stuff that I might only use once or twice a year. Any thing else I’m usually buying Milwaukee or husky just so everything matches and I don’t go insane
AFAIK the Datyona 3 ton jackstands from harbor freight are fixed based on the recall. I picked up 4 during blackfriday for $50 (On sale for $25 a set) and I had 0 issues with them, honestly a great purchase. I hit a deer in October and took it as an opportunity to fix my own car, got some tools and did it all myself, its not perfect and needs more fine tuning once it gets warm again but it runs better than it ever did before and I did it with all harbor freight tools
Good to know! I haven’t tried the Daytonas. I had the older ones that failed. Maybe I’ll go buy some to try them out and see if I like them better than my Duralast ones
I bought the Daytona Jackstands (had locking pin) after having my older Matco Jackstands collapse while my truck was on it. Luckily I was not under but it was still scary.
@@MattWillman-wo4bx Geez that’s crazy. Locking pins are good. My Daytonas have held up pretty well. I did have some that were from the recall a few years ago but they got returned. I think im realizing that I actually got these from Autozone and not harbor frieght
True, but Milwaukee power tools have never failed me. I would rather spend a little more and always have it work than save some money up front for it to break
@@LivingLikeGray you’re still not on a budget. Let me ask, if you have $300 to spend on getting a starter set of automotive tools, would you rather blow it all on two high end power tools and have no wrenches, sockets, pliers or would you get lesser quality but still very capable tools? That’s what it’s like to have a budget. And why I say telling everyone to always buy Milwaukee is not a good idea.
@@kthetc5602 in the video I say if you have the budget it’s a good investment. But if you don’t you can just get the other tools. I would rather recommend high quality tools that I trust and last a long time than something that might not last a long time. I trust people are smart enough to understand what I’m saying in the video. Also, for the record, the video is about the best tools for working on cars, not the most affordable.
Correct, the one shown is an impact drill with a socket adapter. I never said it was an impact wrench. The reason I recommend this is because it’s cheaper than a full size impact wrench and will be good for beginner applications.
@@LivingLikeGray Waste of money. I use my impact wrench all the time on my car, never use my impact driver. Impact driver has lots of uses, but not so much on cars. First you have to adapt from hex drive to 3/4" or 3/8" drive, and second, it doesn't have enough torque for larger or rusted fasteners. And anything the impact driver is taking off can be taken off with a ratchet.
Those were the Pittsburgh stands. Personally I'm amazed they still sell the line at all. The Daytonas are much higher quality w better welds and safety features.
@@LivingLikeGray The 6 ton are great imho. Grab them on sale and they're a steal. They have steel feet which are good for more stability and working on asphalt. Although the sparkle purple 3 ton are pretty 😎 ✨

Smh, you should recommend all rookies to get on the tool truck and spend 10k like a real mechanic
Sounds like you work for snap on

“Milwaukee Always” is terrible advice for someone on a tight budget.

@ no doubt. But if your whole tool budget is $300 and you blow it all on a pair of drills no one would call that smart.

Wtf is wrong with the daytona jacks stands?
There was a large recall on Jack stands from harbor freight because they were failing and splitting under load. A few of mine were affected

Dewalt is the same quality but cheaper
I had dewalt before but I kept having battery issues with mine. So far I have not had any issues with Milwaukee.
Mostly just a preference thing
@ yeah i feel it there smaller batteries are kinda junk but the 5 ah batteries are good i like Milwaukee just to expensive even on black friday
Wow, a lot of misinformation 😮
How so?
