Probably the best and simplest way of explaining these modes. Much better than what I learned in Class! Thanks!

It can be really confusing at first! Glad this made some sense, it was challenging to understand when I first got started.

@@axk Same but I think the more exposure to it the easier it becomes!

Great Video! If you were staring over which DAW would you learn?

That’s hard…the standard in the “big leagues” is still Pro Tools, so that would be the end goal. I think Logic or Reaper would probably be the best ways to go with that in mind.
Logic is prettier to look at and great for music production, but Reaper is way more geared towards workflows that work in post production and gaming. So one of those, depending on where I wanted to end up.
      Hope that helps!!

@@axk thanks for the reply. I am going to start a documentary in a few months. My skills are equal in Fairlight and ProTools. I am having a hard time deciding which DAW to use. I have worked on logic and Reaper a little bit. Reaper is a little intimidating to me.
They all have good and bad as you are aware. I am cutting all the sound and mixing, so I would like to get a control surface. Black magics surface is expensive and only works with resolve. 😠 if I go with Pro tools I would have to cut on my PC since I only have an M1 and they don’t have video support yet.
Sorry for all the venting, just trying to figure it out.

I wish you would do youtube lives and mix people's stuff on the live and teach from there.

When I obsess over a detail I sometimes lose the direction of the mix I want to take and I need to redo everything. Do you have that kind of moment where you are too focused on one thing (automating volume etc. and balance isn't right for example) that you lose sort of the "birds eye view" of the entire thing?
