    I'll say it here and everywhere else:
    I playtested Dante: Inferno in beta. I won't say much about story. Rather I'll comment on gameplay. It's a very complex game with a very large rulebook. Looks like the rulebook got slimmed down by at least 20 pages. Great, but my buddy and I read the rulebook and quit our participation in testing when we decided that we had spent 5 hours, which was too much for the scenario and probably half the first boss fight. The game seemed very punishing as well. Lots of interesting ideas, but not my cup of tea.
    Using the companion side of the characters felt really watered down and we didn't prefer to lose some of the cool abilities.
    Everyone can take their turn at the same time, but most of the time, you're better off discussing and planning and going move by move, which leads to lengthened play time.

      It looks like a game made by/aimed at people who play complex combat systems like Warhammer, with those clunky terrain elevation pieces and dozens of dice (correct me if I'm wrong). Definitely not for me either either way.

      @luisecmf 6 месяцев назад

      @@sAKecOkE Its not that complex, its very similar to Oathsworn system or a watered-down version of ATO. Its a standard boss battler where you chuck dice and aim at a certain number of sucesses.

    I enjoy your content. Though I feel you missed the boat on Dante. The rulebook is available, as is the entire first chapter on TTS to demo (1/9th of the game). What more "gameplay" info do you need to make a decision? Also, you can get the full 30 hrs of story gameplay for $99, which I feel is fair. The rest of the upsell is cosmetics, alternate heroes, and "premium" components. So it makes sense that those are highlighted in the campaign. Keep doing what you are doing and thanks for the video!

      They have only showed one battle scenario. It honestly looks like there is little replayability and there will honestly be little variation. The other phases have been recieved pretty poorly too.

    Storage that helps getting in and out organizing is nice. Massive darkness 2 is a bit messy, for example (retail)

      You can say that again. Haven't been doing this boardgame thing too long and I'm a bit of a pleb in that I mainly stick to boss battlers and dungeon crawlers. Haven't said that I have both Cthulhu: DmD and Massive Darkness 2 organized(bought to very nice inserts) and they hit the table way more then townsfolk tussel which I don't have organized but I enjoy just as much.

      If you think MD2 retail is bad you should see the KS all-in… I managed to get it down to three boxes (including he massive dragon box) but it’s a chore to get stuff out.

    Are you going to at some point make a video on why you hate stretch pay? Cuz to me, thats the key reason why GF is better than KS or backerkit for crowdfunding.
    I dont understand it considering its zero interest. Yeah if you dont have all the money then you shouldnt be backing it in the first place (but that goes for any fomo/predatory type purchase like gacha games) but its nice to not have the big lump sum immediately charged.
    Sure some people are conplete consumers, but its not gonna make me personally back something im not interested in

    By the way, the Street Masters miniatures are not 15mm or whatever you said, they are 28mm true scale... huge difference.

    My feeling regarding Dante is take the standee box and then compare it to the Nemesis Retaliation box, one offers imo significantly more value than the other, but that is also relative to a degree based on the type of game play experience you are looking for. The cost for the the full experience, again imo, was just too high once you add in the mucho shipping and the currency exchange from USD to not USD. Also, many reviews are like “I loved it the first time, but… and but….”

  • @vexedhermit
    @vexedhermit 6 месяцев назад

    The thing about stretch pay in this instance; is that there aren't any interest charges, nor will we have the finished product after 10 months of paying for it anyway. Backers are even able to process their owed amounts prematurely if they wish, so unless you're an impulsive spender; might as well have the money on hand for car insurance, dental appointments, and the like.

    I find it really odd that they show renders of minis for Dante, and the renders aren't even what backers will receive (they won't look like statues with cracking on the flesh and whatnot). It would be interesting to compare the final minis to the renders for the campaign. Does anyone else feel like that's intentionally misleading.

    • @AJ-sd1ll

    I backed the 1st and 2nd Street Masters campaigns at the base pledge levels. I'm like you where I really had a hard time with the rules, various interactions, timing, verious book keeping what does what. But I know there is a good game in there, here is hoping for a streamlined rules stretch goal

    • @neyotto
      @neyotto 6 месяцев назад +1

      Tides of the Dragon is the more streamlined version of the game. If I didn't already have everything released so far, I would only get boxes 3 and 4 from the new SFG campaign.

      There's an app version that has all the base game content + some extra stuff. I'd recomend getting that so you can see how you like the game. I love the game, and think the all-in is a great choice.

    I’m speaking as both a player and game store owner here, but yes, themes like Dante’s Inferno are very welcome to me currently (I’m backing Inferno, the euro game as it’s more my style). I’ve always been someone who seeks out different things and with how many games come out that just feel so bland, I’ll take a theme based on hell and a book I really enjoyed. It’s a big plus to someone like me who doesn’t enjoy most of the hot titles that everyone talks up every year.

  • @luisecmf

    I backed Dante: Inferno because it seems to scratch the Oathsworn itch (My favorite game), but I do think their prices are way too steep for what they have to offer. Its only 9 chapters with an estimated 25h play time, yet Core Box + Minis costs $185 plus high shipping. Im still on the fence if I will stick to the pledge.

      @bennoblaschke1169 unless story is really important to you, dante looks like on par, if not better than oathsworn
      Foretller is better than VO, minis are more detail sculpted based on chronicles, battles got more depth, exploration looks probably better

    • @stevenharris6161
      @stevenharris6161 6 месяцев назад

      Its Oathsworn-lite but it seems really underwhelming after all the hype with little replayability. I reckon its safer to wait for the second printing if it does eventually become good.

      @stevenharris6161 how did you come to low replayability assessment? Just because it lost the cinematic events after the first run, but isnt that just like any other boss battlers except they dont have the cinematics?

    the whole stretch pay hate cracks me up lol. responsible spending and choosing an interest free payment system are separate things. with or without the option, those spending irresponsibly will do so regardless of how its done. at least with stretch pay there isnt a 20%+ interest fee attached impacting peoples credit score.
    BRW is a ton of fun. just doesnt get tabled enough. id get more of it if it got played more often
    Street Masters is offering a lot of value for the price. amazing game, highly modular, tons of fun. hopefully SFG supports the game more than BLG did and some of those edge cases will be cleared up as they arise. i dont have a ton of it, cuz well it wasnt available lol, but ive havent seen a ton of edge cases myself. though there were a few and the answers i got came from people who played the app, which was unfortunate but at least i got them

    Dante had my attention. But, I just dropped Spire's End Hildegard off at the game auction after it sat unplayed since the campaign fulfilled. So my expected value proposition on a pricey solo/co-op experience is not good enough to pledge.

    Watched two gameplays for Dante, just seemed boring to me. And not showing the chronicle phase is a huge red flag.
    Sounds like it’s going to come to retail, I’m happy to wait to buy it once enough people have said they like it.
    Also those prices are 😬😬😬😬. The prices on the minis are tough. And shipping prices are outrageous (but that’s kind of the state of crowdfunding today tho).

    Does the crowdfunding platform matter?
    KS washing their hands of obvious scams, with a reporting process that sends reporters round in automated circles, whilst still pocketing their cut. Yes potentially I do think it matters.
    We've yet to see how Gamefound will react to scams, but I'm not aware of one on Gamefound yet. Perhaps they are doing some due diligence before allowing campaigns to launch? If so, that would be a refreshing change to the attitude from KS.

    The cost turned me off to a lot of the campaigns right now, and a lot of my backings from the last couple I'll say years since most are all 12-18 months old are all coming in right now so i need to play these games which all are similar to something i backed and is arriving soon. Dieson Crusoe did get my money, but i like the style and if i hate it i dont lose much

    The gameplay of Dante seems to not be for the average board gamer player even though it looks like it was streamlined. The different steps and keywords that each card can have and also with always 4 characters even if they have a streamlined companion for each one.
    I pledged not to miss the 24 early backers, but I saw some videos and the live play from Dice Tower and I am pretty sure I will cancel the pledge.
