Mike, I'm older than you. I used to sit in our living room for hours, lifting the needle and re-playing, lifting the needle and re-playing guitar parts on the records MILLIONS of times, trying to learn the parts, and occasionally would actually get close. I can see that that would NEVER have worked for tunes like this one and many others. Thank you for doing such a great job of unraveling Beatles magic.
How do you know you’re older than me? I too (as a child) listened to these records hundreds of times when they first came out and lifted the needle to try and learn the songs.
Exactly Mike where were You dear I guess it's never too I allways loved this song no idea what it was about.zLennon clever and with Paul's help over the top of the charts.. thanks Mike inside info is incredible..
I think a lot of us who were young teens back then destroyed some precious vinyl Beatles albums by repeatedly stylus dropping on our favorite song or particular guitar riff. I know I sure did using my low budget all-in-one turntable system that I would queue by dropping the tone arm somewhere near where I hoped it should be!
I too, used to lift the needle and replay over and over. I later found that making a tape, I could use the tape counter to rewind to the correct part of the song. Times have changed thanks to Mike Pachelli.
I used to be quite proud of my stylus dropping capability to land the needle in just the right place. Then I got a turntable with a lever. Wow, much easier! Now I can just watch Mike!
Just a few lessons more and we are able to perform the complete Revolver album. What may have inspired those young men from Liverpool in the middle Sixties to create this sound? Many thanks.
Mike, without you how would I know how to play so many of these beatles classics accurately? I love the lessons, they're what guitar playing SHOULD be all about.
Thank you very much young man. I'm an old French Beatles fan who's nearly 77 and I've been trying to work out how the guitar parts of this song are constructed for almost 60 years. Thanks to you I've finally figured it out! Congratulations on your remarkable work and your enthusiasm! The Beatles are eternal. May their fans be too !
Mike, I could listen to play all day buddy. I started playing back in 1963 or so after listening to this new band called The Beatles. My friend played much better than me at the time, so he helped lead me into a lot of what I was playing and what I would be playing for a long time after that. I made most of my money through Jr and Hs playing at school dances with a few different bands, nothing big, just mostly for fun. After the Army it killed any hopes of me getting any bigger, I just wish I had kept it up. Now I have my three part retirement and have the money I need to buy whatever I want. Ive got 8 guitars and four amps but still playing alone in my basement! Now I’m 72 and have a lot of retreats about not playing more and in depth. I just wish I’d taken the right and proper lessons. Please don’t make the mistakes that I did!!!
Thanks Mike . Yes 3 Guitars is the key to this song I never knew. . To me This era was the Beatles at their best as a Lennon led Guitar band. ( Help- Rubber Soul -Revolver ) George one of the best ever at filling out songs without taking them over. Paul's Bass playing was also getting much more complicated. John was a outstanding rhythm Guitarist . He never gets the credit he should. Mike I needed these videos 40 years ago when I started .A big Thank you from your viewers including me.
James - Yeah - George was amazing. The epitome of taste. He made SO many of their songs extra special with his intrinsic ability to play just the right part!
@@MPfrance I completely agree the epitome of taste is the perfect way to describe him. Goodness just imagine "And I love Her" without George Harrison. Still a great song no doubt but with his additions, the song takes to another level of beauty
Weirdest thing. Woke up on the 30th with this song in my head. Not even a big favorite but there it was in my head AND there was a notification that you were teaching it. Great lesson, thank-you.
Wow fantastic lesson. Always loved Dr Robert. Especially love the rocking back n fourth from the I7 to IVsus move. Also, Didn’t realize how simple George’s single note part is and how the chord progression just wouldn’t sound as cool w/o it. Thanks mate! Oh n ur sound-alike track is stellar. Big up
I always thought of this as the quintessential Beatles riff…if they were all alive and being welcomed on as guests on the David Letterman show, this is the riff Paul and the band would play in the background, the same way the brassy sped up ‘Thats Alright Mama’ opening is the quintessential Elvis riff…
Hi Mike. I've been playing guitar for 50+ years. Amazing that I can still learn more by watching your lesson. There must be extra room in my brain as I get older. I have more space to fill Mike. Love your Lessons.
Excellent Mike. I love Beatles 'parts.' They were a great instrumental quartet behind the perhaps the best pop singers in rock history. Thanks for the breakdown.
so hard to believe we are currently old and crazy how the 56 year old smashing tune still feels fresh and still fires on all 12 cylinders , i still recall like it was just last week figuring out this tune and being the neighborhood hero for a week lol .... great Job Mr Pachelli !!
Hi Mike. I still watch every single song that you display. Unfortunately, my my health (MS) has kicked in and I'm having a lot of trouble remembering all and any new ifo. I love you for loving The Beatles.
A recent review of the new Revolver boxed set called Doctor Robert "the weakest track on the album." I couldn't believe that! it's always been a favorite of mine, and I wish they had released it with the ending jam. Thanks for a great lesson!
Yeah I am in total agreement with you Don. Ray Davies of the Kinks thought it was the best Track on the Album . Personally I love She Said She Said and And your Bird can Sing . Great Guitar tunes as is this one.
Mike- wow, can only imagine how long it took to decode these parts. Thank you for doing it. Invaluable to all us Beatles lovers. Hope u r feeling better!!
Hi Mike, fantastic job on this. When I was learning to play guitar like almost everyone else I started with the Beatles. Now, almost 60 years later I'm still at it. I think those two albums Rubber Soul and Revolver was/is my favorite era. Still carrying the "guitar" music genre a little edgier than what other bands were doing. Thanks for reviving this and all the other songs. I love your playing, doing it the correct way.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU--this has always been my favorite on Revolver, and, in my opinion, one of their most timeless rock tunes. Just so good, thanks again!
Great breakdown, Mike- and your Cover at the end is just so fantastic it made me smile and laugh (with joy) at the same time! I think there still is a "5th Beatle" - You. I was born in '48 and segued from Doo-Wop & The Four Seasons to The Beatles in '64 and never looked back. Hope you are doing well, Brother. Look forward anxiously to your next fabulous production and lesson.
That’s brilliant Mike as always. Such an accurate breakdown. I met Ken Townsend at Abbey Road in August 2019 and personally thanked him for ADT! He was such a lovely guy to talk to.
Love your playing and teaching .. few years back I picked up Blackbird from you off the Gibson website and since then was able to show a handful of friends the proper way to play that fine song. Helped moved my playing forward as well after a very long break from guitar. Thank you Mike very cool man!
You are the best Beatles songs teacher by far and away. Too bad I can only play one part at once, lol. I mean I have a looper pedal but still... I just love the way you break down the songs, you hear things I can't... until I realized were there because you mentioned in the video, I had a few "oh, uh-huh" moments, lol.... thank you Doctor Mike Pachelli...
Niesamowite!!! Jestem pod wielkim wrażeniem. Pozdrawiam serdecznie z Wrocław/Polska
Mike, I love each and every aspect you provide on the Beatles songs. Very well done, educational and entertaining. I always suggest your site to Beatles fans who have performance questions. ( I'm the JL for a Beatles tribute group as well.) Keep it up as you are greatly appreciated!
H i Mike, considering the many layered guitar parts, it,s no wonder they never dared play this one live, it would have missed many textures to it, . Oustanding deciphering from you, You are an ACE. Cheers
As insightful as we have come to expect. Musically this song (and the period generally) is fascinating. They were clearly moving away from conventional pop arrangements - is there something in George's parts of an Indian influence perhaps? And his first part is almost like a bass part played an octave higher than usual. It would be great to have an contemporary interview with them about what they were doing from a musical point of view although they were not necessarily the most articulate when it came to explaining technical matters. Certainly living through this was quite something - each new album or even each new track seemed both slightly odd but oddly brilliant and now years later, Mike and others like Alan W. Pollack reveal the brilliant truth.
Awesome lesson as always, would you ever consider doing some Anthology tracks like Free As A Bird, Real Love or If You’ve Got Trouble in the future as well?
Mike, admit it. You're a shape shifter and were the proverbial 'fly on the wall' during the recording sessions. Thanks for your incredible break downs. At this point, I think I'd trust your analysis more than surviving members memories! But seriously, anyone who hasn't spent time to reproduce an accurate rendention of even a single instrument wouldn't appreciate the hours or days to deconstruct a recording. Mike, you're a musician and have a lot invested in studio, equipment and instruments. But if you said it took you 100 hours to produce this instructive, 18 minute video of a simpler Beatle tune I'd say "That fast! ". Frankly, however long it took is amazing simply for the accuracy!
I now can't think of this song without thinking about my (and Mitch's) friend, Dave Leon's "Dr Fauci" that he put out a while ago. Dave was the John to Mitch's Paul in the Beatlemania movie (as well as one of the LA casts of the show). but, up until then this was one of my favorite tracks from Revolver. hell, EVERY track on Revolver was great and I don't think I skipped a song on it ever!
No one can succeed like Mike Pachelli
Mike is numero uno with his lessons on the lads, Dr Robert was on capitals yesterday and today I believe
I couldn't agree most!
He’s a man you must believe
Helping anyone in need
😎🎸🎤
Amazing, Mike. Both your performance and how you show us the deceptively simple original arrangement.

Brilliant job. The way John and George's parts fit together so well isn't noticed by many, but is a huge part of their sound.
Another great video. What an astonishing album Revolver is and more than stands the test of time. Still sounds very contemporary today.
I LOVE this song. Any band would call it a career with it but for JPGR it was one of hundreds. Thank you Mike!

It just makes me smile every time I see a new ‘Mike’ Beatles song. I’ve been particularly waiting for this one! Thanks Mike.
Mike, this is a great lesson. I appreciate the song so much more after seeing you break it down. Great Harrison picking in there. Thanks!

Man I'm 65, I love your videos, especially the Beatles ones, I bought a new Gibson 50's Ebony J45 at 3am this morning.
Thanks for all your great videos
This is like archeolocgy, instead of anthology. So wonderful, +50 years later, you could see these brilliant tunes come to life again.
Exactly
Excellent Mike. I love Beatles 'parts.' They were a great instrumental quartet behind the perhaps the best pop singers in rock history. Thanks for the breakdown.
Ring my friend I said you’d call MIKE PACHELLI

Hi Mike. I still watch every single song that you display. Unfortunately, my my health (MS) has kicked in and I'm having a lot of trouble remembering all and any new ifo. I love you for loving The Beatles.
Love this song. One of my fav non-hit Beatles.
Absolutely and totally brilliant Mike. Thank you

Mike- wow, can only imagine how long it took to decode these parts. Thank you for doing it. Invaluable to all us Beatles lovers. Hope u r feeling better!!
Another detailed and thorough guide. Thanks heaps!

Good to see ya again Mike!! Remember when you were on TV back in Tampa! Great lesson too!! Dave.

Thanks Mike! A Winner Every Time!!! 🎸🎼💥
Great sound alike Mike, cant wait to get into the lesson. Any plans to do a 'I'm Looking Through You' lesson anytime soon? Cheers!
Zando - "I'm Looking Through You" is most definitely on my 'to-do' list!
@@MPfrance When I was a kid, I thought this song was literally about looking through someone.
Thanks again for your meticulous work.
That was awesome Mike
Awesome once again!
Love a Mike P. lesson. I'd really dig him giving a lesson on a Chrissie Hynde-Jimmy Scott thing like "Kid," etc. I must say.
Perfect, as usual! 👍
Ten out of ten, A1, top banana. Thank you Mike.
Love the tracks you pick! Good job! Thanks…
Sorry to hear you're not feeling to well Mike, hope you get over this funk soon and thanks for another great lesson!
Mike- Another good one. One of my favorites. Hope you're enjoying your new digs. Nashville is the same.

George didn't do much. But, the song just wouldn't have hooked me without him.
