This is much help for me, I am taking CDA class for infant and toddlers so I haven’t started the portfolio yet, but you make it look so easy 😂Thank you for sharing this video
I just wanted to thank you for your videos. I set up my portfolio the same way withiin the your video to where I did great on it. My PD- Specialist stated that my portfolio was the best that she has seen in a good while. Meanwhile, I took my exam and I will be getting my certificate withiin 2 weeks. Now, I'm working on my family childcare for the home.
Thank you for taking the time to explain everything. I was sooo confused as how to do this. I will be going back and forth to help me out while finding all the info I need. Thank you again.
For the nine activities do I have to have one activity for each age group or no. Like for science/sensory 1 for newborn 1 for preschool 1 for toddlers For all 9 or no??? I’m confuse with what they mean by 3 for each age group...
Hello. wonderfull vid. Thanks for the help. were do you find all the counseling in florida? Because I try to search and google show me for marriage and other stuff.
How do I even get stared about this? I’ve been working for a year as a daycare teacher . My director signed the scholarship info for me . I’m wanting to start now .
Click on the link in the description box that says teachers pay teacher (tpt) I have a free download in my store. The name of my store is Born2BATeacher1. I also have other papers on their that will help you on your way.
I've been working on my portfolio since my Sophomore year in High School (2nd year in high school). It took us so long to get the hours completed (our school took 40 hours through DCF for the training hours) since we only had 1 hour in class to work on it & during my Junior year we worked in the Cyesis program to obtain in class hours. Sadly, it came to a stop because I was able to go to College full time my Senior year in High school (Also because I didn't turn 18 until after graduation so I wouldn't of been able to send my portfolio in until now) . I just graduated and am finishing up the learning activities and what not. My lessons all have a common theme: Ocean/Under The Sea. I was wondering if you believe it's okay to have the lesson plans be decorated (have vector images, borders, and what not) as they would possibly be if they were posted up at a preschool. Also, if photos of the lesson should be included. For example: For my science lesson plan I chose Wave Bottles, should I include a photo of the finished project? I would just like some advice from you since you seem to know what you're doing :) Great vid! Just subbed!!
Let me add, I was in Cyesis volunteering for a school year and a half. Also worked at a preschool for 9 months! Also, I'm taking ECE classes in College on top of my 40 hours!
Congrats!!! Im so glad you have the passion for this field!! It will be extra brownie points to include the decorated lesson plans and photos of the finished project!!! But, to be honest with you, the Specialist only looks for the items that is suppose to be in the portfolio and your actions during the observations or verification visit. When we put in the scores, they ask us specific questions pertaining to the items that I went over on my portfolio video. If you look at the scoring tool in the back of your Competency book, it will tell you what you are graded on. So, what Im saying is that, it will not make or break your scoring grade!!! I would have loved to see your portfolio, it sounds like it will be so professionally done!! It will go a long way when you are looking for jobs and you present your portfolio to the Directors!! Im praying with YOU!!!
For the most part, I'm really planning on adding photos and decorations for my online portfolio with my ECE class @ SCF. I think that would give me some extra points. I just want to make sure it wouldn't count against me in my CDA portfolio. I use a lot of the lesson plans I made in my CDA portfolio in my online portfolio, vice versa. Which is awesome because I did some lessons already in High school so I don't have to do much work lol. Thank you for the feedback!!
Hello Love4winter. I am currently in school working on my CDA..I worked in a Daycare over 5 years ago and I also have experience as the Vice-President of AT&T Pioneers working with homeless and less fortunate children for 8 years. However, I am in need for new volunteer hours working with infant to 5 year old children. I plan on opening a Family Care center in my home.. I work full-time Mon-Fri from 9:30 to 6pm..just wondering if working on the weekend at a nursery in the hospital or at a church with a school/daycare would be sufficient enough for my volunteer hours? Also, I plan on being Licensed through the state before my CDA class is completed next year. Does the hours in my home teaching and caring for children that are not my own count toward my CDA Creditial? Thanks in advance. I appreciate this video and your expertise!

Wow!!! You are going to be a great teacher!!
Hey just wondering if you successfully got your CDA and if you did, how was your experience?
DO we provide a sample lesson plan we have done before
You can as long as it is complete, it will be fine.
