God earning a CDA is so much work considering the job only pays around $15 an hour (which is the same as what they pay at grocery store jobs where I live) Hopefully it’ll be worth it though😭
@@pca808 it depends on where you live because with my CDA I’m at $18.75 before my CDA I was making $16.50 and that was experience only since 99 I live in NY❤
@@pca808 well you cannot rule out the money because no matter how much you love kids a lot of workers need to be paid well considering we are with children sometimes from 6am to 6pm! It’s our livelihood but we do have rent & bills.

I went through my CDa classes and finished right before the pandemic hit. I am working again now at a new center since my old one closed and some of my competency statements aren't "current". Do I need to rewrite them? I hadn't thought about it before printing them out. All of them were signed off on when I went through my course.
Hi Amanda, you need to go the the cdacouncil.org website and order the Competency Standards (CS) book. Be sure to get the one for the setting you are getting your CDA in. That book is what will guide you in putting together your portfolio. There are some pages you will tear out of the book and put into your portfolio, others that you will need to develop on your own, and resources you will need to collect and insert. The portfolio area begins around page 15 of the CS book. The CS book is critical to have for your CDA as it also has the CSI tool that will be used to score your Verification Visit and it has additional helpful information in it. Hope this helps!

Its worth it if you're in it for the right reasons. If you're in it for the money then its not worth it.

As long the information is relevant to the competency standard you should be fine and not have to rewrite them.
