Actually the game play is atrocious and leaves you directionless for the majority of every level, you'll get lost every time without a guide. The weapon models aren't even theirs, they stole them from Gamebanana
@@aidengoodrich5974 Agree, no story, nothing to give meaning to trekking through these maps...but, some nice maps. Some epic large indoor spaces,, atmospheric, three-dimensional. Worth a look.
Honestly, This mod looks like a interesting mix. For a way, it looks good enough, with it's own things, and for another, it feels... lonely and strange (which seems to be the aim, actually), but this makes me wonder if this is Half-Life related or imagine a story that is based of. I can see this mod mixes a lot of Half Life 2's as well as Portal 2's content, which is really interesting by itself, honestly. Honestly, the first boss fight reminded me of something, kinda of like those older games where you defeat a boss and then go to a bonus stage. There were some moments where... seriously, the transitions made NO SENSE at all. especially around the 1:03:00 minute mark (almost), where you entered on a door, and went to fight two combine elites, and suddenly where transported to the "stash" room. And seriously? I didn't understand any bit of the story. The ending made absolutely no sense to me... What did you gather from all of this, story-wise, Bolloxed?
This is probably one of the first games ive played ever where i said: "I quit". This game is just....incomplete, glitches galore, AI issues, questionable story, horrible optimization (I was losing frames with a gtx 1070 and i5 6500). but DANG does this game look awesome and I do see effort. Also, screw that Terminator boss and that cheap flamethrower, i swear it locks on like glue and kills in one hit. Took me about 30 tries to beat him
I found the teleport out of the electrical substation [first map], but had not explored all of it, so I reloaded an earlier save to finish exploring. I found that I had brought the reduced gravity of the arsenal vaults back to the first map with me, for everything: fast zombies, headcrabs, the whole lot had all suddenly become Olympic long jump champs. A very unexpected glitch.
I have quite a bit of nostalgia for this mod. I was very sick one day and it was cold and dark outside, so I was looking for something to play. This appeared on Steam. The game was very interesting, albeit frustrating to play at times, but it genuinely felt like a fever dream. I honestly couldn't put it down no matter how much it frustrated me because it's genuinely a beautiful mod and I kept playing to see what the next map was. Was kinda sad when it ended because for those few hours I'd completely forgotten about my cold and was immersed in the developer's world. I think it's best to see this mod as more of a playable portfolio of maps the developer has made, kinda like an interactive art gallery of sorts. And I don't hate it honestly.
So please explain, all you did in the first 9 minutes is pretty much a waste of time/exploring around? the first time i played the mod i discovered the teleport within 2 or 3 minutes and skipped all that. at the teleport you get loaded up and then on the following scene you lose your equipment again. so i dont know whats the deal with that huge area
the level design for me is more like architecture and aesthetics than game-levels and that's awesome. I love it! So much style, so much originality! But unfortunately also so much unused non-linear gameplay and story potential...
All the weapon models in this mod are stolen, I just contacted Consta (made the AR2 skin) and he hasn't given permission for anyone to use it in a mod.
I saw a discussion of this issue on the Fast Detected Steam Newsfeed a while ago. And before that, I saw that AR-2 skin on GameBanana. Then I thought about it. Now I stopped by to double-check and ... it's still licensed under a CC-BY-NC-ND 4.0 license. I well know that GB users very rarely think about copyright, so 90% of the uploaded content licensed under CC-BY-NC-ND even if it's author wants to keep all rights (They literally says"All rights reserved", but the "License" field contains this: "CC-BY-NC-ND 4.0"). So, just legally, Fast Detect developers did not violate copyright, since CC-BY-NC-ND 4.0 allows to using this content in any games or mods as long, as the license terms are respected Did Fast Detect developers violated copyright? Well... 1) Attribution: I'm not sure, so I need to investigate the game and it's files; 2) Non-commercial: Yes, I suppose. Fast Detect is Free-to-Play; 3) NoDerivatives: I'm not sure, so I need to investigate the model's files to know it; ... And no additional restrictions. You and Consta just have to learn the copyright laws (And something about that license: creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/deed). What about GB users .... Well, I think they should also learn copyright laws and always set the "terms of use" (license) CLEARLY AND LEGALLY CORRECT. =============================================================== P.S. I am not a lawyer and do not bear any responsibility. It's just an advice.
1:02:12 what's with that spinning thing? What's the purpose of it? I was playing this mod and I jumped on it while it was spinning and you can ride it. It probably kills you when you touch it as it has triggers all over it. Also how did you remove the screen filter I mean that wet glass effect, it is kind of annoying? And Bolloxed, I've downloaded a ton of HL2 mods because I've seen your videos.
Saw your review on steam, have to say I didn't take it seriously, but when I loaded the game up and played through I hated every second. (In the beginning area I found a rock that led to the top of a building, and there was no way to tell I wasnt supposed to go up there, I got to the top and it was a one way...)
Okay, I've lost interest in it after 1-2 hours of gameplay, I'm not sad having not continued, what a disappointing ending :/ That's always the same with those lonely modders who work for years on a project : Prospekt, GString, The Gate 2, The Closure... They are somewhat unique, they have their good and epic moments, but overall it's the same recurring problem : they seem to work in an autistic way, with bizarre puzzles, weird choices of places and enemies, crazy difficulty (too hard or too easy)... I don't know, big projects shouldn't be the work of lonely guys, even if they're talented. They don't seem to beta test their things, they don't seem to listen to criticism... Underhell is the sole exception of all those projects.
They are not "autistic", they do not work in an "autistic" way. I'm autistic and I'm calling those what they really are and they are just BAD. They have SHIT level design, with SHIT enemy placement and SHIT balancing, and the puzzles are SHIT. Those mods aren't autistic they are JUST. FUCKING. SHIT.
For a Mod I thought it was well made and thought of in his own style. I don't think most people get it. Sorry you didn't finish Fast Detect 2. I think thats the point of this mod you get lost in different directions etc.. But then you wont finish quick time then delete it that most people do. Ive got over 3TB of mods for Half life 2 and i'm still playing them. Now my kids are adults I am free to do some big time fragging. Nice Play Mister B.
Shadow_Demon Kaneki_Ken they are, but their not his. It’s the same models from Black Mesa source but he just changed the sound effects and also CSS/hl2 tactical.
Shame they went with some of the beta soundtracks. The brass synth-heavy tracks for some reason just scream "low budget". No disrespect intended to the great Kelly Bailey, it just sounds cheesy.
She isn't the only one, I've found here and there (since nearly 10 years I follow mod's), some die hard HL female fans on moddb or PlanetPhillip, they're not the majority but still... they exist. I've only recently discovered bolloxed when she came on PlanetPhillip to review The Closure. So far a good channel and fast-to-playthrough classic and new mod's, it's interesting, and the "no comments" rule is likeable. I follow 2 other channels, ParkJinSung2509 which go more "in depth" with mod's (he's the only one I know who has finished 100% the insane Hazardous Course 2) and themegatonbomb who try to... play every damn HL1/HL2 mod's and map's ever released (and it's clearly insane).
Honestly I feel like I'm the only one that objectively likes this mod. There has been so much love and effort that the amount of hate the creator receives is VERY undeserved and frankly insulting. The art style is fantastic and the gameplay is actually pretty good, you just need to know what you are doing. The only objectively bad thing I can criticise this mod for is that flying Terminator boss fight. I had to cheat for that one, because it sucked. Everything else is expertly created, and the gameplay is fun if you don't spray your bullets everywhere and conserve ammo. And sure it doesn't feel like Half-Life 2: Your point? This isn't even trying to be similar to Half Life 2. It's more closer to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. than it is to Half-Life 2, but even then, is that such a bad thing?
Sometimes boring, sometimes difficult, sometimes just not interesting. The spaces are too large, the enemies are too far away, and it takes too long to walk and look for something there. Maybe the design is good, but it's boring to play.
Before anyone starts, the level transitions are that bad. It's not bad editing
Good mod or bad, I like how you play them all!

The gameplay is actually very good if you conserve ammo and don't spray everywhere.
Actually the game play is atrocious and leaves you directionless for the majority of every level, you'll get lost every time without a guide.
