NAH I am soooo glad someone else noticed the golden spatulas! I genuinely thought I was going insane while playing, or had somehow missed an important piece of dialogue that highlighted their relevance lmaoooo 😮💨
They actually don't do anything. I think it's more of a hidden collectible but honestly, why not have Plankton say "remember when I tried to take over the town? I lost some of those golden spatulas in the world. Go find em"
I swear I was exploring bikini bottom at the beginning, I found myself on a random island with a box, I ground pounded the box and…a freakin golden spatula was then shining in front of me? This random ass collectible was in the middle of the beginning of the game in a small island that’s hard to reach for…REASONS?? Lmfao I laughed so hard in confusion when that happened to me! 😂
When near the Wild West jellyfish fields spatula Patrick mentions that he sees something shiny which probably was the golden spatula
I think it's really cool to see licensed games that are actually fun and embrace the source material, this one seems good besides some issues and I'd love to see more
I hope we get to see a Danny phantom game or jimmy neutron or better yet a Fairy odds game

I think the studio doing this is a step in the right direction. They remade one of the best licensed games ever, now they've taken a go at an original sequel. They tried to make it it's own game which I really appreciate. One backtrack I really loved was in the Wild West Jellyfish Fields where you go to the cemetery and have little side-story with 'Squidward'. I expected that to occur at other places as well, but that was too hopeful haha.
I really liked that they attempted to have some boss fights, Sandy and Pom Pom were really nice, but it felt like they could have more real boss fights, or maybe some optional ones. I really expected to fight the Bullworm and hoped for the Dragon Jellyfish in the Medieval level.
Also I was lowkey disappointed that Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy weren't in the game, but on the other hand we got Pearl, Karen as well as the legendary Fred

In my opinion, the newer Nickelodeon games have been pretty good. I enjoyed Rehydrated, Nick Kart Racers 2, Nick All-Star Brawl, TMNT Shredder's Revenge, and Nick Kart Racers 3. I can't wait to play The Cosmic Shake tomorrow.
One thing i think is the best thing about this game is unlike rehydrated spongebob ACTUALLY emotes here he actively expresses emotions through his animations there is so much more life in this games animations and of course eugene krabs got his actual voice actor this time around so that helps
I like how they kept the gaming mechanics and had some dialogues that referenced some most favored/popular episodes of SpongeBob. But it felt so simple and easy when fighting enemies *extra* if that makes sense. Battle for Bikini Bottom was fun because you could explore everything you see and popular especially the homes,restaurants,etc but in The Cosmicshake it felt bland. I realized they have us new places to explore but it’s like it was unnecessary for them to add places to see like SpongeBob,Sandy,Patrick,Squidward,Krusty Krab etc. it was also missing some gaming mechanics but I’m upset about the lack of exploring Bikini Bottom

There are definitely some weird design choices. Like the Golden Spatulas, which seem to now just be the Star Coins from Mario. But overall this game was a highlight for me this month. Very solid 3D platformer that's fun to 100% and looks visually amazing with its eye-candy art style and clever themes
(Shout-out to Halloween Rock Bottom. Peak level design)

The Road to Rehydrated Never Ends.
The funny thing is that the composers who made the music for this game also made the one for BFBB, but back in the day they didn't know much about SpongeBob or what type of music the show had but later on they actually worked on the show itself for a period of time and now they are doing the music for this game lol
I can't believe it's been so long since the Road to Rehydrated marathon. Good times, goooood times. Now if only this game had the Jellyfish Gear theme :P

While this game had some bugs, which only got patched eventually, i still enjoyed it!
i especially enjoy the writing in this game. the story is pretty straight-forward, but that's what you'll get from Spongebob.
i also enjoy that Spongebob is his pleasant, naive-but-well-meaning self and Patrick is stupid, but also good-hearted, again.
i even like the concept of Squidward being so angry at Spongebob that he becomes a boss-enemy. though it could've been executed better.
also, some of the worlds are far too short, IMO.
My personal issue with the game & I don’t know if this will make sense… but it feels lifeless. BFB truly felt like a goofy SpongeBob game, this one misses that charm. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed it but it was lackluster in my opinion.
I also wish the game was longer, there were more side quests & I don’t know if this is just nitpicking but I also feel like the reward typically being different skins & gold coins didn’t really make me want to hunt for them. There was something about collecting Gold Spatulas in the past game to unlock areas that made me really want to hunt for them & not just because some areas were need to progress.

Can you explore the interiors of some of the iconic locations like spongebobs house etc?
There's not a lot of buildings you can go into actually, there are some parts of levels that let you explore the interior of a museum or a saloon but sadly the houses in Bikini Bottom you're unable to enter
@@Rapwned Well that’s disappointing lol…I’ll still play it but once I saw the hub world looked similar to battle for bikini bottom I felt hope that they would allow you to explore the interiors

I loved the Cosmic Shake. The changes were hard to get used to at first, but you can’t expect them to make BFBB twice. I don’t know anything about Spongebob after Season 4, so I’m really glad they didn’t do too much with the newer episodes. When I heard they were making a “Cowboy” Jellyfish Fields or “Halloween” Rock Bottom, I was expecting just a re-skin of BFBB. I still would’ve loved it if that’s what it was, but im extremely happy they made entirely different levels instead. Like I said, they can’t make BFBB twice, and I really think this was a hell of a sequel, so much better than the Movie game.
I really love this game. I played rehydrated and stopped playing it because I didn’t have clear instruction on what to do. Cosmic Shake is easy to follow. And it a lot more detail! I love that they added the extra costumes. I would love an online coop mode, or to be able to play with different characters and play from everyone’s POV.

I love it. It’s fun, pretty and it cost 40 measly bucks. A lot of this review feels like “Adult Plays Children’s Game and Complains” to me but I know it’s a mostly positive one
I hope this does fairly well so we can get another sequel that improves on this game. Although it might just end up being more of the same.

I just completed the game after about 12 hours, and I can say that it may be my favorite SpongeBob game. I didn't feel any burnout during my playthrough till I completed the campaign and realize there's actually post-game content. Battle for Bikini Bottom was a really fun platformer and the Remake made it so much better, but I always wondered what would happen if they had a better story and slightly deeper gameplay. The story kept me playing through the levels and the combat kept me enjoying the games progression. In fact I might go is to say it has the best combat in any platformer I played so far; that's not Mario; and the Collectibles can get a little tedious after you beat the campaign and you no longer see cutscenes. And the world could be filled a little bit more with things to do aside from collecting things. But you got to look at it as a SpongeBob game, and it was made specifically for the fans of Battle for Bikini Bottom. I can even see the care they put into catering to the speedrunning community for when I was playing I could see little shortcuts you can take and objects that are placed carefully for the Keen Eye. I could go into more detail and make this a full-blown the review but this game deserves all the praise it is getting for being a good SpongeBob game. The only downside I can see is that the audio quality could use a bit more sound effects, but this was made on a budget and they did what they could and they did it well.

On the topic of licensed games, Shrek 2, Nicktoons Unite, and Barnyard on the PS2 were real bangers.

golden spatulas are probably just those extra collectibles that you can find for fun and have no importance whatsoever except for 100%’ing and possible achievements (like an xbox achievement)

This game is more of a sequel to the SpongeBob The Movie tie-in game, than a direct sequel to Rehydrated.

Why have we regressed back to only SpongeBob being playable though? What reason was there to remove Sandy and Patrick? It would take more effort to merge all there moves into SpongeBob than just having them be playable

This game is an embarrassment to BFBB’s legacy. The developers didn’t understand what made the original so great, and this game is representation of how out-of-touch this franchise has become with its humble beginnings.

Battle for Bikini Bottom and SpongeBob Movie were on the PC and GBA, NOT some shitty “console” “game”.
Already I can say no. SpongeBob is the exception both in current quantity of licensed games, and quality.
I doubt we'll see a return to the quantitiy it was in the 2000's and the quality certainly won't get better for most licenses
