  • This is part 2 in our series with RT NEW YORK's 1-0 LTC Ed Wolcoff. We will be continuing from where we left off last week on the presentation and will keep the Q&A sessions in throughout and have one large one at the end to close out this episode like we did the last. This episode we will be getting into the tactics and techniques Ed picked up and developed along the way that kept him and RT NY at the top of the food chain! This should be a great episode for all you BIG TIME SOG fans!!

Thank you both for the interview. There is a lot of GWOT Vets, and even younger civs, taking a lot of interest in SOG and stories from Vietnam. It’s important to keep these stories alive and remembered like we do with WW2. Hopefully someday soon people will also start to do the same with Korea, as besides a few important battles, many, including myself, know little about it.

I helped provide inner security for the 20th Tactical Air force Squadron (TASS) at DaNang 1971 as USAF Security . Had a 12Ga humping them and a M16 when at the entry point.
A Cessna, OV-1s and OV-10s, if i recall correctly. Once I talked to a crew member, and learned their mission, It seemed very important that they had their own dedicated security..
The area was obviously important to the VC/NVA?, as their flight line area had some hits from those "inaccurate" 122mm rockets. Had to bury into the concrete with my helmet.

@@budgibson185 I'll mention that to him although it's highly unlikely as he's very humble. He's the type of man who would never bring up his military history in conversation. He did write a 40-page book about his experiences in Vietnam just to share with the family. If a person were willing to put in the work and read some books about LRRPs there's a great opportunity to make some quality content about them. Not much exists so it's a pretty interesting and untapped subject. LRRPs were actually the most effective teams operating in Vietnam and had the highest kill ratio out of all units operating at the time. It's a huge misconception that they were strictly reconnaissance, they were routinely used for pow rescues, direct assaults, ambushes, enemy harassment , prisoner snatchess and calling in air strikes. I believe only a couple hundred LRRPs operated throughout the war and they were credited with over 10,000 enemy kills. You can find a lot of good books about these teams on Amazon, many of them in audio format. Would be really cool to see someone put out some quality content on them

@@tac6044 There shouldn't be any books about them. Vietnam veterans should just take their stories quietly. Tell their friends and family about it if they must. But they don't need write books and do interviews like these or make movies. No more videos. And so the highest kill ratio you say? So killing 10,000 who were simply defending their country against invaders such as themselves. Good job America.

You might want to be careful doing anything with modern military historian. I don't know if it was allergy season or he just smoked too much weed , but his wild carrot interview went horrible. I was really interested in it but even with several attempts , I just couldn't watch it. he just constantly interrupted him. You never want to leave your audience wondering what he was going to say before being misdirected by a goofy question. The early Team House interviews used to do this a lot too after drinking too much. You are obviously very well prepared for your interviews so all you have to do is let them tell their stories and be prepared when it starts to wind down, run out of steam, get repetitive , or go off the tracks. Maybe that MMH guy has gotten better but you are a natural and it would be a shame if your access to SOG guys started getting limited because of an association with somebody with a bad rep.
