My 17 year old son went on a scuba diving trip to the Bahamas he called me all excited and told me he had been about 10 feet from a 6 foot shark. I told him that was what every Mother wants to hear.
Society, including mass media, fosters the belief that people aren't attractive unless they do or buy some product or service - honestly, consumerism is largely made of artificial desires! These people all have very low self-esteem, so they seek artificial means of changing their looks in the vain hope they'll be more desirable. Just a hunch, but I'd be few to none of hem are married, having found someone they can spend the rest of their life with.
There are games that have characters looking more human than all these people. Almost 2 years ago I discovered that my new phone can hold filters (the old one might have had that option too, but as a person that doesn't care about it, I never bothered to check). I said "what the hell, I'll try it". I proceeded in making my eyes a little bit bigger. The end result scared me because that little detailed changed a lot of who I am. My photos might be bad, but they reflect the reality as it is (or I should pay more attention and clean my phone camera before taking a pic).
What bothers me is not that people want to change themselves (that's a personal issue and somebody else telling you you look beautiful as you are will not change that), but the fact that they do this horrible job, look at the disaster of a final result and then make the conscious decision to post the pics on the internet (where everything is forever) and assume everyone else is dumb enough to fall for their obvious lies. Makes me question if these people were the ones who worked on the Cats movie...

I remember believing that noses are ugly and if you wanted to make a lady really beautiful, it was best if she had no nose at all. Just a smooth piece of skin there. I kinda see exactly the same mentality with some of those influencers xD They wanna just photoshop their noses out.

She will show what her pictures look like with the filters, Photoshop etc and will always post without too, advocating for natural beauty, posting videos and pictures etc...! I can't imagine that she finds it easy to face all the criticisms that she already receives so I think sometimes is best to do more research to avoid any further upset!

As someone who used to photoshop the absolute hell out of my pictures, you're absolutely correct. At least in my case, I definitely had self esteem issues.
And social media just exacerbates the societal problems we already had with appearance before the internet (& God knows we have a fuckton of them). I've never felt like I was photogenic, although I feel reasonably okay with my looks otherwise, so I only put up a couple of pictures of myself (my few that I think look okay, have never photoshopped one but can totally see where people would & get addicted to it) online, otherwise I avoid it.

Honestly sometimes I feel self concious trying to even edit out a zit and recent face scar I got from a car accident recently its minor and my demertalogist said it could be removed with a chemical peel but still ashamed to show it in profile photo I have to upload for school but I'm not altering anything else other than the zits and scar on my left cheek honestly I hope I'm not morally wrong for using the tool just to take it off my photo before I get my appointment done. It's frustrating b/c I want to be proud of my face or just use the tools without guilt but b/c of people like this posting photos I don't want to feel fake by taking a scar and blemish from my face . Scars CAN be removed, but they lighten over time, and honestly aren't repellent to ME at all. I've heard there are creams with Vitamin E and others that are bleaching agents. That seems way more sensible and legit to ME than someone bleaching their butthole! (Who the F is gonna see it, or care??)

When I was younger photoshop was supposed to be minimal and the make-up was the only pore erasing tool people used.
Yes, it was meant to hide a zit or smooth out crows feet, not reinvent human physiognomy.
Honestly sometimes I feel self concious trying to even edit out a zit and recent face scar I got from a car accident recently its minor and my demertalogist said it could be removed with a chemical peel but still ashamed to show it in profile photo I have to upload for school but I'm not altering anything else other than the zits and scar on my left cheek honestly I hope I'm not morally wrong for using the tool just to take it off my photo before I get my appointment done. It's frustrating b/c I want to be proud of my face or just use the tools without guilt but b/c of people like this posting photos I don't want to feel fake by taking a scar and blemish from my face . Feelings intermixing sucks.
@@maggiequinn. You are excused, dear. It's not a lie or moral failing to edit out a zit or lighten a scar. Why have lifelong reminders of a temporary blemish? Scars CAN be removed, but they lighten over time, and honestly aren't repellent to ME at all. I've heard there are creams with Vitamin E and others that are bleaching agents. That seems way more sensible and legit to ME than someone bleaching their butthole! (Who the F is gonna see it, or care??)
