- "Music is born from silence" -Zlata Chochieva
PIanist Zlata Chochieva, of Ossetian descent, is winner of numerous awards, over a dozen competitions and has five highly-praised albums to her name. She appeared at the Miami International Piano Festival, the Gilmore Keyboard Festival, the festival «Progetto Martha Argerich» in Lugano, the Lucerne Festival, and the Berliner Klavierfestival.
Filmed in Berlin in May of 2021 at the b-sharp studios, she reflects with quietude and introversion on her days of intense study with her teacher, the living legend Mikhail Pletnev, as some of the happiest of her life, and what she learned about curiosity for life and a broader outlook on the world of stage. We ask her about what it took her to learn and prepare the Chopin Etudes on stage, and to be well with whatever happens in the moment.

She made probably the best Rach Chopin variations recording. Great interview as usual! 👍
A charming and insightful young lady. In my opinion she is one of finest and complete young pianists before todays public.
Although we are biased, we completely agree with you! Thanks so much for watching and for being in touch! -zsolt
@@Living-the-Classical-Life Thank you, your bias is entirely justified.
Zlata is such a “sparkling” and “scherzo” musician - with all the limitations of comparisons... Her signature approach of (re)creation and reinvention of musical masterpieces by changing the optics and looking at works of one genius with the eyes of another (Rachmaninov - Chopin or Skriabin - Mozart, to mention just a few) is fascinating. Thanks, Zsolt and your team, for this glance into yet another unique universe.
Thanks for your amazing support, dear Olga!
The lady is right. When i wake up in the silent morning all I hear is music in my head. What a special piano-lady she is. 💗🌷🌷🌷 That 1st. Sonata by Rachmaninoff is so difficult and glorious. (Holland)
Amazing pianist. The best. Strepitosa. ❤
Zlata Cochieva's two recent recitals in the Kleiner Saal of Berlin's Konzerthaus have been among the most memorable in my 70 years of attending concerts...in the line of.." coincidence "?? of many great Piscean artists: Chopin, Moiseiwitsch, Guiomar Novaes, Lily Kraus, Myra Hess, S.Richter, Arkadi Volodos, Daniil Trifonov...😊.
Such a wonderful series. I enjoyed this interview particularly.
We are so delighted to have these words from you--thank you so much for watching and for being in touch! Stay tuned next week for Misha Maisky's episode. -zsolt
Thanks to both of you!
Thanks so much to you!!
I love your interviews and your guests. Thank you
Thank you so much for your truly meaningful words of support! -zsolt
Yes! Finally, Zlata on LtCL! She's a fantastic musician. Looking forward to watching this right now!
Thank you so much Daniel!! I really loved everything she has to say and she is a pure delight-I hope you like this episode!!
Great interview as always! Thank you
So glad you liked it-thanks for watching!!
The Queen of Chopin etudes. An incredible pianist and human being, if she counts as human…
She’s truly astounding!
30:07 my favorite part !
Lovely lady, both inside and out. And exceptionally intelligent. Enjoyed this programme very much. Thank you. (Something to love about Russia is that it recognises young musicians and other artists very early in life, and provides them with education of exceptionally high quality.)
So so happy to have, as usual, your incredible feedback--always makes our day to hear from you--thank you! -zsolt
Agree! I truly wish I had access to that type of education here in the US. So many of us were told music was foolish to persue, thus music has always been my first love but such a struggle for me. But it’s never to late.
Great interview!
Very happy you enjoyed it-we are grateful to hear your feedback!
Amazing series and wonderful pianist, Zlata is so beautiful and so is her playing. Her story is inspiring and her passion for concert music is magnificent. Thank you for putting this out to the world. Please do Hélène Grimaud, Janine Jansen, Khatia Buniatishvili, or Sophie de Bardonnèche🖤🖤🖤🙏🏻🙏🏻 You really are the best! Thank you.
Thanks so much for your words of support! We will do our best to pursue episodes with your suggested guests!
What a humble artist! And her playing is brilliant too. Thanks for sharing this and your excellent questions.
Thank you so much for your feedback--we are so delighted you enjoyed her episode!
Hello! Can you please try interviewing Martha Argerich? I hate stating the obvious, but she's 81 and we might not have her around for too long.
She has said yes on two occasions! However the very tricky thing is scheduling… we well continue to try! Thanks so much for watching! ✨
Fantastic. Looking forward to it happening. ♥️
@@Living-the-Classical-Life I hope it happens. I would love to see that one.
What a brilliant woman.
Agreed! And so down to earth and reflective as well-one of our favorite guests so far. Thanks so much for watching! -zsolt
Very interesting artist. To an outsider like me it’s fascinating to hear how a professional like Zlata looks at at the world, to learn what inspires them. Great insight into her student-teacher relationship with Pletnev, and into the teacher himself. Excellent interview, Zsolt, as always!
Thanks so much for your words, Bud! Was great to have you on set with the team in Buffalo!
Never even heard of her…not really a fan on the Scherzo but her playing of it is amazing…is there anything more difficult?
Thanks so much for watching and for giving your feedback-we are grateful for your support!
I was unfamiliar with this artist. Thanks for introducing me to her. Her perspectives on selecting repertoire and developing her pianism reflect a great deal of artistic maturity. I'm eager to hear her play the Rachmaninoff 1st Piano Sonata.
Hers is an amazing recording! And thank you so much for writing to us and watching. 🙏🙏✨
New generation of the piano superstars: Zlata, Yuja, Kathia. Martha should be proud.
Kathia is just for entertainment, Yuja not far. Not the same league as Martha. Zlata is more artist.
Zlata is great
Agreed!
