    Me and my wife got new bikes. My wife got another cannondale hardtail 29r. Her first she went from 27.5 to that. I got another 29r. Salsa hardtail. With a dropper my first one. I’ll be doing a video soon on them when it stops raining.

    Hey guys, love your videos. Im looking to get myself and my wife in to mountain biking and wanted to get your opinion on what you would recommend between the M1 E11even and the Able Sport? I know you did a comparison on with the Able core, but the Sport has an advent 1x9 group set and hydraulic breaks. Wondering if those upgrades help at all. Having to buy 2 bikes keeps me in the "budget" range. Again, love the content and keep the videos coming

    My preferred method when using the headset press is to only remove one of the old cups, and use the other one with the stepped taper on the tool to ensure it’s nicely centred. Then remove the other old headset cup and repeat using the already fitted new cup .
    That way the tool doesn’t skate around so much when pressing in. 😊

    hmm, I wonder what model of FSA headset that is. The FSA headset I have on my GT Aggressor Pro uses sealed bearings. Also I wonder if this headset will need to be shaved down a little bit to fit flush to the headtube. I guess I'll see since I haven't watched the whole video lol. You could probably put the fork on the Royce Union, even though the fork is 27.5 it should fit a 29er wheel you just won't be able to go crazy with the tire width.

    14:50 I think you are right, the plastic spacers are probably a bad idea. especially with the way you ride.

  • @mtbboy1993
    @mtbboy1993 11 месяцев назад

    Long time since I saw a silver headset on a bike. Nice to see.
    But I'm skeptic towards the FSA headset as I've had a bad experience(crushed headset on new bike, metal shavings, another rough in 1 year), and read bad stuff in Facebook groups.
    Maybe this one is different, I guess time will tell. It's a budget build anyway. But as long as it turns it's fine I guess.

  • @mtbboy1993
    @mtbboy1993 11 месяцев назад

    11:39 That was likely due to bad tolerances on the head tube it self. Sadly common issues, along with bottom bracket not being flush, brake mounts too, paint over spray. So it requires tools that costs 4 times as much as a a cheap frame like this to fix. If not too bad or oversized all of this is fixable.
    Like undersized head tube, or not round head tube, you can ream it, even integrated head set style head tubes too, both insides and outside.
    face brake mounts, clean the pain off and make BB shell flush, clean threads so it's all aligned and flush.
    I'm glad I don't have to deal with this on quality frames. But has to done to many frames out there, or at least it should be.But the customer sohuld not have to deal with all that crap, or pay for work that costs as much as the frame, but if it's a bike from the shop the shop might do it for free included in a build.

    Awesome video😊

  • @mtbboy1993
    @mtbboy1993 Год назад

    3:11 Unless the tolerances of the head tube is off, which can happen. if undersized, and possibly ovalised, you can ream it, that's an expensive tool, but if it's oversized that's not something you can fix as you would possibly need a oddly sized headset, and head tube would be weaker.
    Sometimes head tubes might not be flush, so they can look weird, like skewed back side or one of the sides, I've had that on a frame, head tube was not 100% round, but the bottom was flush apart from the rear, so had a small gap. That's 2010 Trek ''quality''.

  • @kenetics1344

    I found it helps to spray some penetrating oil on the head tube. Makes knocking out the cups super easy

    I actually don't like that crown race removal tool. it usually leaves some deep scratches on the fork for me

    • @NonLegitNation2
      @NonLegitNation2 Год назад +2

      it's better then the jacked up alternative I use which is throwing some gorrilla tape on the top of a utility knife blade then hammering the blade down to pry the race up enough to fit a screw driver in between it and the fork crown. It works 100% of the time but it's pretty dangerous, make sure to don your safety squints to prepare for flying pieces of razor blade.

  • @mtbboy1993
    @mtbboy1993 11 месяцев назад

    you sohuld return the fork as it's not what you ordered. But you if you really want to it's possible to the steerer with a straight steerer conversion steerer, some suspension tuners do this. Rare, but I saw it on Instagram. I'm not kidding. But forgot who did it.
    Or replace whole CSU.
    Maybe replace the lowers and put it on another bike or with wheels with adapters, maybe those wheels with hope hubs.

    @WOLFTICK VIDEOS, This is unrelated to the video but can the BUCKLOS F32 27.5 suspension air fork fit on the mongoose ardor x1? I have this bike and I want to upgrade the fork but I don't want to spend alot of money. So can this fork fit on the mongoose ardor x1?

    • @WOLFTICKVIDEOS
      @WOLFTICKVIDEOS  Год назад

      It will as far as the tapered headtube is concerned. But if saving money is a biggie be careful. You will want to get a new headset because the crown race is not removable, so that's a little $ then you will have to look at a thru axle front wheel to accommodate the fork. Either you will need a 100x10mm or a boost 110x15mm axle. Depends on the fork I know it's a thru axle just forget which one.

    • @noahpierce4191
      @noahpierce4191 Год назад +1

      @WOLFTICKVIDEOS Thanks alot is there any budget air fork you recommend that will fit the bikes headtube out of the box without buying a new crown race?

    • @WOLFTICKVIDEOS
      @WOLFTICKVIDEOS  Год назад

      So we do not recommend things, but if it was me lol I would look at a budget tapered fork with a 9mm qr. That way you could save a little without having to purchase a new front wheel. You will need a headset, as well. You will need a 44-56mm Headset. A Jessica will run ya about $20. Here is a compatible fork that should hold up over time, a little more $ but it's not a bad deal at all.Here is an affiliate link

    I am looking to get my 1st bike and have the opportunity at a Ozark Trail Ridge for $300 thats barely used or should i go with a brand new GT Aggressor Pro at $299 from Dicks? What would you guys recommend for $300-$400 budget?

    • @WOLFTICKVIDEOS
      @WOLFTICKVIDEOS  10 месяцев назад

      We don't really recommend one over another. Both have pluses and minuses. A new GT with a warranty at $299 is hard to beat. However, the Ozark Trail has a tapered headtube, and if you plan on upgrading the fork, it makes the world of difference on selection. I know this ain't what you wanted to hear, but it's also what makes the "budget biking" culture soooo fun.😉
      Let us know what you decide.

      @@WOLFTICKVIDEOS thanks for the feedback. It was actually what I was looking for. Although, I may have decided to put a bit extra on my budget and look at the Canyon Grand Canyon 5 as well as the Kona Lava Dome or Kona Mahuna. Those seem to get me more in the place I want but obviously come at a steeper price even though all are on significant sales at the moment.
