    Alright, I think it’s time I get my Heteroscodra maculata (Togo Starburst Baboon) out of this enclosure. I have still zero clue on what these white powders are, so to be safe, I think the best would be to get her out of this enclosure and into another.

    @exoticslair these are wood beetles or mites. Creating powder to fall out. Please cut the wood open and see! Because you could have used another piece of wood in another enclosure and they can stress your Ts out! 😫

    It's weird, seeing videos of giant spiders has actually helped me get over my fear of spiders. Honestly, the giant spiders are kind of cute.

    I think you should disassemble that woodpiece. Just to know, what is that causing these droplets. Perhaps it is a tree sap, or a larvae inside.

    Pull the stick out and place it in boiling water for fifteen minutes or so. You can also microwave it until it is hot enough to kill the larvae boring inside it... or just get a new stick LOL

    Can u do a video for the 2nd channel cutting that piece of wood on that spot it is doint that, just for curiosity. I think u got wood mites inside and they r digging inside and that is the wood dust. Just a wild idea i had when i saw the other video.

    @Exotics Lair it is a beetle burrowing in your wood. The eggs can survive very cold temperatures so putting your wood in the freezer wouldn't have helped. If you go back to the previous video, people are telling you where the beetle is actually visible.
    They are really harmless but will destroy any wood. So if you take the wood out DO NOT LET IT LAY AROUND!!!
    Go throw it in the woods, far away immediately.

    Watching your videos has gotten me through quarantine and inspired me to love spiders and insects so much! In the fall, I’m going to the best school of entomology in my state as a biology major with a focus in entomology, in part because I want to learn more about these tarantulas. I never really thought much about tarantulas until I stumbled across you in my recommended. You have been such an inspiration. Keep it up, bro! We need more people like you.

    Him not starting with saying that it's the beetles that eat wood and can potentially eat the wood in his house like termites is stressing me out worrying about his house lol. Those are top comments on the other vid now so I hope he sees.
    Edit: Also I used to work in a greenhouse and took some education programs on gardening. This is to say, that is DEFINITELY not mildew and is probably the beetles.

      @Rayneworld is it okay to ask how would you treat the wood?
      Because I used to build toys for birds and what I would do is dehydrate the beetles by putting the wood in an oven.

      @@thebirdfantasy I'm not an expert with the beetles, sorry. The oven sounds like it might work? I bake wood for my snakes like that, and I think EL said he froze his wood and still had this issue so maybe heat will work?

    my man is that a pile of sawdust? check for a little hole on the stick. it could be a bug making a tunnel in the wood and pushing out the wood dust
    if so just toss the stick

      There are insects bruh. In the first video about white powder, you can see some of the bugs during a close up. Exotics didn’t see them though.

      @@MeMelon4u I'm not sure what kind of insect it is, but woodworms eat a part of the wood but also dig tunnels in it, so one thing doesn't exclude the other, also you can't say if that's most of it, we need EL to cut open that wood to find out 🤷

    I think it is awesome how you take animal parts and put it into your enclosure. Like with that dog skull. It’s not disrespectful and your honoring this animal by incorporating it into your design. It makes the enclosure feel more natural and it is just amazing to see the anatomy and to teach people about different animals.

    She is stunning!!! I love how you care so much for all your beautiful and wonderful critters. I do believe the wood had bugs burrowing in it, very small ones and the dust was chewed up wood. So your t is ok but definitely good to clean it out to be sure to be rid of those pesky bugs.

    On the last video you could see a small bug crawling on the stick. That is your culprit, it's make a nest in that stick and that pile is just wood chipping.
    Still don't know if it's dangerous but you'll get a bug nest in your spider nest and that probably isn't a good thing.

    Cut the wood open to see if there are little bugs in it! I have to know. In the last video, I saw a very small bug crawling on the wood around 2:19.

    The dust could be sawdust.
    I think there's something like a beetle or a worm digging inside of that piece of wood and the white dust is sawdust coming out of the hole they dug

    First things first is definitely a beautiful tarantula she has a beautiful coloration to her and beautiful patterns. She didn't seem as crazy as you thought she was going to be. She didn't bolt or anything of that sort. I do love you reactions though when you start to re house these beautiful arachnids.🕷🕸🕷🕸

    Maybe termites! Or other insect that burrows in wood. You can see the exit point of wood shaving output.

    well... i dont think those termites attack bugs but they will transfer to his shelving. as long as he gets rid of the wood it should be fine.

    Yours is so calm, mine chucks a threat pose the moment i go near it. If i open the enclosure to feed and its out 100% it will try bolt out the opening unless its chucking the threat pose and actually striking.

    Get rid of that wood. It's quite possible it's infected with bugs that eat wood which is why it won't stop or go away because the bugs are eating the wood.
