As for the comment saying these sticky notes are reusable, that would only be the case if you used a pencil or a whiteboard marker. If you're a pen user like most students, the note could not be reused. I already know that's gonna smudge. We don't expect sticky notes to be water proof anyways because if the sticky note gets wet, likely the book is also ruined. Waterproof is just something that comes with using a material that makes it transparent, aka, plastic.

Theres actually a way to get your sticky notes lay perfectly flat.. For that u need to peel the sticky notes from the top and it will lay perfectly flat.

here’s a tip so the edges don’t curl. instead of pulling it of on the bottom peel the sticky note off on the top. hope this helped!
