I'd be honored if some David Byrne & Talking Heads fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performance of THIS MUST BE THE PLACE (re-interpreted as a ballad) on my YT channel in tribute to one of the most unique & iconic bands of the late 70s/early 80s era. Raw acoustic with no digital editing. Thanks and peace.
What a guy, surrounding himself with top notch musicians and rearranging his famous songs tastefully, and taking well care of his voice, and collaborating with younger, exciting artists as well
Reminds me of my dad. The Talking Heads was his favorite band along side of many other bands. The car rides with my dad was epic and full of wonderful music. Now I get to pass the car rides to my daughters. I really miss my dad. The Talking Heads is a nice reminder of my dad and my childhood.
you 'got light in 'yer eyes....and 'yer stand'n here beside me, I love the passing of time, always for love, never for money... cover up 'an say good night....
I ain’t ashamed to say it watching the strings and percussion instruments along with that voice got me all in my feelings. Such a special song. Gratitude
Someone introduced me to this song more then 2 years ago, and I’m grateful for that! Its a masterpiece, makes me dance while swinging my hands in the air. Total freedom 🤍🖤
Dancing in the kitchen wile cooking dinner and playing this over and over again. Nothing like real talent, real music, and the sublime David Byrne. It does not get better than this, folks.
Agree across the board. And his "does anybody have any questions?" at the end of Life During Wartime is one of the great moments in cinema and video...
So so good. An amazing tune then that has only improved with age. A remarkable talent. Loved reading all these comments. It seems this song holds a special place for so many people as it does with me. Best song ever? Its certainly up there..
This is one of the very few songs that make me want to combust in joy as well as drown in misplaced sadness at the same time. I can’t quite put my finger on why it triggers so many buttons in me- is it the composition, the lyrics, his vocals, what is it I don’t know. Or does it have to do with that tendril-like bassline that loops on from front to end... It can’t be explained. It’s one song I really want to listen to if I were given five songs to listen before I die.
My mother visited me in 1985 when I was living alone. 'must get lonely here with just your music"... But Mum I had music like this to listen to. It wasn't too bad.
How could one not get up and dance to this song? Me and my dance partner would share the floor with David, swaying to the rhythm. Because...this is where I'll be.
Still watching this from time to time....its just pure magic and my fav lyric "you got a face with a view" love it and this arrangement so uplifting and above all entertaining
No pretension. Pure art. Genuis and total inventiveness along with Bowie, Waitts, Zappa etc etc etc Pop art, ingenious, humorous, cynical but sublime snd and never replaceable !
This is brilliant, got my scar on my leg going to see talking heads Edinburgh. Last night of the festival, pissing with rain, sliced my calf on a chipped glass table, no taxi so had to get an ambulance to hospital asked them to stitch very quickly as going to see talking heads. Stitched, sorted made the gig.
Um, I'm sorry, but this is perfect music making. Everything about it. It's a stellar performance by a genius working with talented musician. I cannot love this any more than I do. I love this guy!
One of my favorite songs. I love the strings added. I love it when David takes music and improves on it. He certainly improved this song for me. I loved the song to begin with then this version turned my head again. ❤🌼😍
Heard this again after many years on a trip to Barcelona in May this year in a market. The stall holder was just playing it, I went over s we ended up dancing to it for 5 minutes including a repeat. Played it everyday since in between tears as it is quite possible one of the most beautiful songs ever made.
there's a chance that this is the best song of all time and i don't say that lightly ..cuz i listen to a lot of music ..i got a lot of time on my hands
Easily the most beautiful version of the most beautiful love song ever written.
Possibly the best song ever written.....
Great live version but for me the best version will always be the one in "Stop Making Sense" where he's dancing with the lamp
yeah but that's also the best thing that happened, ever...
That entire concert was brilliant, I grew up with that!!
Agree across the board. And his "does anybody have any questions?" at the end of Life During Wartime is one of the great moments in cinema and video...

My favourite version of this record...
David Byrne is a musical genius
What about that voice, damm after all this years and he still sounds great.
Violins make everything sound more epic. Even pieces that are already epic. They merely make them epicer.
Come on 3 years later and it still rocks
One of the greatest love songs of all time. "I can't tell one from the other. Did I find you, or you find me?" Gosh, just so beautiful. ❤
Sing into my mouth, love me till my heart stops.
The insane string arrangements get me each time. It's superb.
No words to convey my love for this song or David Byrne.
