this velvet glove is such a special track for me, one of their most beautiful and underrated songs in my opinion. the chorzow live version of this masterpiece makes me cry once in a while
Your tone is so spot on! You have all the right gear but I'm sure it takes a lot of time and study to tweak the settings. I know the amps have a major impact on tone, but how about pickups? Any recommendation for a set that sounds like John's strats?
Salveeee funkyyy!!
Awesome! Love how the 3 different parts compliment each other so much, while on their own they might not even be recognizable as the song. Very cool! 🌶 🔥🌶🎸🤘🏽👍🏽
Amazing man, this peppers song became very famous here in Brazil (yes, a Brazilian is your fan, bro) because of a series, it's my wife's favorite and within Californication it's one of the ones I love too! If it doesn't bother you, could you bring Strip my mind in a next video? stadium arcadium is a special album for me, all the success in the world to you and sorry for the huge text and if there is anything written differently it's because I used google translate to help me.
@@southport65 It was part of a collection with several artists, the series was called Malhação in the year 2000 (because this series had several editions, some continuous and others different)
Amazing! when you said you were about to upload californication songs, this song came first on my thoughts. I've been playing this song on bass quite a lot recently. It took me a long time to figure out the chorus part and I thought I was playing it right but I see you playing it better 🙌🏼 thanks a lot for sharing ❤
What about John's work with Duran Duran back in 2014 There are some crazy tones and lines in those 3 songs. First time I've heard What Are The Chances in the radio I thought it was Jeff Back but later learned that it was John. I think you're the man for the job. No one talks about it. Great work!
this sounds awesome - think the original recording might be a jaguar though! to my ear, it has the weird quackiness of the middle position or one of the out of phase selections
@@RedHotChiliRiffsno, that’s untrue. John and Josh met each other january 3rd 1997 when John played with Thelonoius Monster at the Delancey Street Foundation in Hollywood. But I doubt Josh played acoustic guitar on the recording
@@user66792 I agree with you, because the Chili’s didn’t inherit Josh in they’re live performances until the 2000s even. And they formed STILL (Joy Division Tribute Band) in 1999.
This cover is so perfect!!! How is the volume in the room? I see that u used CE-1 Chorus on High Mode on 1o clock, Major with the High Treble on 6 and Normal Channel on 4 and jubilee with volume master on 6/7 and Input Gain on 7. For me that would'd be so loud and distorted for those two amps with those settings, but i'm wrong after hearing those magical crunch sound you made.
@@RedHotChiliRiffs How the sound is to clean/crunchy and not distorted at all? using high volumes on both amps and on high mode on ce-1? Do you use some attenuator?
The guitar in both acoustic and electric sound very accurate and good bro! Excelent. It's difficult for me to get that sound on the acoustic guitar, since it sounds like thin on the original recording, but you got a really similar sound. Is there any trick to achieve that sound on the acoustic guitar? By the way, it is also difficult to make the strum so similar, since even in the original recording its strum varies slightly and accentuates some movements more than others in each part.
You are right, I cut a lot of the low frequencies on the acoustic with the hi-pass filter on my preamp. It’s more about the rhythmic attack than the notes. The body of the sound comes from the bass and the electric guitar.
While it's obviously more accurate with it, I felt like the song had more depth if the acoustic guitar part was there! Do you ever plan to get a Martin 0-15?

I just liked the pickups that came in my Strat when I bought it. I never experimented with changing the pickups so I can’t advise you.

Great song and totally agree with two versions. I wonder i you can play Eddie, i know is basically a super guitar solo but you are the man here!

Awesome work! You should play The Shape I'm Takin' at some point. It's a crime against humanity that it wasn't included on the album.

For those who don't know, Josh Klinghoffer actually played acoustic on the original recording in 1998 as well as some back up harmonies with John.
That’s untrue. John and Josh met each other on the Californication tour.
