Not sure if you ever see my comments on RCSinha. But if you happen to see, then add this small story of mine who dropped in this newly created Navi Mumbai, as I joined the Ispat Industry in 1995, Dolvi, (the shoddy management of which led to JSW taking over Dolvi, thanks for your many programs on Mittal brothers). From panvel I went to pune restaurants several times through express way which you spoke of. Earlier, you never expected people reaching the other side, especially during monsoon . Hats off to expressway ,my wife doesn't wait for me to drive. She drives alone with our family without me even, like many people. Thanks for refreshing my memories. Tons of thanks for your good job on any subject.. B M NANDA

Madam, I don't know if you are from mumbai. Do you have any idea how rapidly mumbai is changing. I was born in brought up in mumbai and I can't recognize today's mumbai. No infrastructure can keep up, if so many people keep coming to mumbai. I really feel sorry for people who have to commute daily either by local or by roads and even walking has become difficult. Even Mr Sinha would be helpless. After creating navi mumbai, the government is trying third mumbai. The only way to decongest mumbai is to remove all the employment generating business from mumbai and relocate to other parts of India. Even the film industry.

Indian infrastructure planning process is broken. For a city of Mumbai needs 2000 kms of metro and suburban train.
When planning the cross harbour bridge, they should have also built additional lanes for trains/metro to connect with NAVI Mumbai.
Now that the new airport is coming up in Navi Mumbai, it lacks direct metro connection from Mumbai and from existing airport. Such disconnected infrastructure development leads to unnecessary traffic jams as people are forced to use cars!
Infrastructure development must lead demand and not trail demand.
The fundamental problem lies in the overall planning process, and disjointed development planning with state government and central government doing things in uncoordinated ways.
For example metro depot at Aarey is a classic example of this disfunctional development process.

Excellent video, Sucheta. The joke is, inspite of the public embarrassment from the GAP between the bridge, they actually celebrated the event by calling a public event. All politicians are stakeholders in corruption, without any accountability whatsoever. Imagine, if accountability were to be inserted into their dictionary, they would be Pink Slipped time and time again!

It is worth reading more and understanding the context of this column rather than making allegations based on half-knowledge. NOWHERE have I said that Mr. R C Sinha planned CIDCO -- it worked and became financially viable (when it was hugely loss-making and on the verge of failure) because of a series of specific things that R C Sinha did which are well documented and publicly acknowledged repeatedly -- so I am stunned at this charge. You may want to update your knowledge by reading his recently released biography before using this forum to slander.
