- For Throwback Thursday I put together the best Leighton and/or Ed clips from the 2008 Gossip Girl Paleyfest event. There are some great Blake, Chace and Penn moments in it too!
I think everyone has seen the moment where Leighton says Chuck understands Blair better than anyone else but there a few other cute things I'd never noticed before:
Ed seems very shy. I was surprised by HOW shy he comes across here. Blake is the anti-Ed in that she's hyper extroverted and bubbly. Chace is perpetually bemused by Ed, like he's his oddball friend. lol. Josh has a running joke where he says he can't understand Ed's accent but it seems like a good natured joke. Ed does a terrible job selling his band The Filthy Youth but Stephanie and Leighton both try to help him out ( Leighton mentions when TFY will be playing next in NY). At the very end Josh says some interesting things about Serena and Blair as flawed characters. You can tell the whole cast gets along really well. I know most of them aren't super close since the series ended but I bet they all have positive feelings for one another and for their time making the show. I don't get the impression any of them is a diva or troublemaker at all. They seem pretty mellow.
Blair is the queen of Gossip Girl, without her it would be boring af. And Chuck and Blair are the only reason I watched till the end, they as characters and they as a couple.

I started out loving Serena and hating Blair, and as the show progressed, I started to love Blair and hate Serena. It's so funny how that worked! The dynamic is incredible!

That would have been interesting if Ed got the role of Nate in the first place. As both Leighton and Ed had amazing chemistry, that storyline would have been truer to the books. Instead they made one of tv history where they literally drifted from the original story, as in the books Chuck and Blair never got together. But everyone just saw Leighton and Ed’s chemistry , and that shifted the whole original story around which wasn’t scripted in the first place.. That’s why this show is soo iconic.
@@arlenec3983 I never read the books but I give the show runners a lot of credit for noticing the chemistry and leaning into it. Most shows nowadays would split them further apart to stay faithful to the source material. Nothing against Nate and Blair, but they just didn’t have the same energy. Chuck and Blair were electric and I can’t imagine the show without their love story.

I liked serena at first but then it was all about blair and since her character showed all the human sides i would say it was more "Blair and her friends.

Blair and chuck made the show they are the only two characters that had me seriously hooked and in love from the pilot till the very end 6×10 they are the reason I love the show so much and started and kept watching. they are king and queen and no offence but I was never on Serena's side I was always on Blair's and felt sympathy for her no matter what she did because it's true the complicated characters are always the best because there's usually always amazing character development that shows the character changing as the show goes on which is why I loove Blair and chuck soo much 😍😍😍

Blake is amazing and I love her but they really did her dirty with her storylines towards the end of the show. The show started with Serena being the It girl and it ended with Blair being the star and the strong beautiful woman who grew into herself perfectly.
Bella Kok that’s because Blair was a more interesting and complex character. Serena never had many layers to begin with while Blair was such a grey character. She had flaws and redeeming qualities as well

@luludd1- yes based on the books but the show drifted away from the books as Leighton and Ed had so much chemistry on the show. In the books Chuck and Blair never dated . The books was always a triangle between Serena-Nate-Blair.

@@fy61 from the interviews, and lack of acknowledgement for eachother, I don't really think they were ever "friends"... Apparently, Leighton was quite introverted, and kept to herself, while Blake was extroverted, and sometimes over the top... I feel like their vibes didn't match well together, and they weren't necessarily interested in making friends (that's more what I believe on Leightons account). Just like with most jobs, you often have to work with people, but that doesn't mean you have to ever really talk to, or befriend them :))
