This is in my top three favorite Ben improvs... I can watch it again and again and never get tired with its originality! You always dance in the music and with the words which makes no two dances alike... Superb job! :)

If this type of course was a college course I'd wonder what degree you are pursuing
Take a ballroom dance class. West coast swing is a form of ballroom dance. Let the instructor know you're interested in West Coast Swing(not East Coast). I take it at my college for an elective as an engineering major and it's a blast

My opinion has always been that the trademarks of WCS are seduction and sheer joy, and they've captured both beautifully here.
Tessa is great at following that which Ben is leading and their musicality is top notch. I would be lying if I said that you could dance like this after a few classes. They have clearly put in the time to get this good, but dancing like this with a complete stranger is very doable with enough practice. While I was never quite at Ben's level in West Coast Swing, I had put in enough time into social dancing that even when traveling for work, I could I could find a club and have a blast dancing with people even if I didn't speak their language. It is also a great way for geeky awkward engineering type guys (me) to get over their shyness enough to interact with women.
Engineers leaders know how to spin followers. Can always nail that axis. What more could you want?

I love this so much. Wonderful talent on both parts to be able to dance so well together on the spot like that. Both of them looked like they were truly enjoying themselves. I hope I can get close to this level of talent some day.

So hard to believe this is improv! So much talent. So I see that all the ladies are wearing black, and some of the guys are in just a bit of colour. Is that competition etiquette so they don't clash, or just a coincidence?

As long as it's a song you can dance WCS to, you already know the timing. Now, hitting the breaks can sort of be intuited but it's most consistent if you know the music. And each of them definitely knew the second song thoroughly (the guitar section and 'hops')

This particular dance showed me that Ben, who was always a favorite dancer of mine, to watch, and admire, was totally attempting to throw Tess's timing off and instead, SHE countered every "strange move" he threw at her!!! What a honey of a dancer SHE IS. -slo-d-

That's what thought , but, really only 5 base positions : 😅# 1. start box step, man left foot back for triple step # 2 left side pass # 3 sugar push # 4 inside turn # 5 cradle wrap around. EVERYTHING ELSE IS JUST A VARIATION OF THOSE 5. just pretend you are an windmill holding hands out connecting with another person. Learn foot patterns and don't overthink it. 🙌 you got this ......😊
