  • Controlled Demolition, Inc. (CDI) of Phoenix, Maryland, USA (acting as Explosives Subcontractor to the Main Demolition Contractor and their client) performs the planning for and successful explosives felling of over thirty (30), V-82 wind turbines located in the North Central United States from July 8th through July 12th, 2021. CDI designed the felling of twenty-four (24) of the units and protection of the foundations for potential reuse. The Wind Farm Owner inspected all twenty-four (24) units and approved them for the re-powering program using wind turbine generators of larger capacity. Those units have been installed and are in service.

    And off to the landfill… None of it can be recycled and they only get kickbacks on new builds.

    • @snagger2810
      @snagger2810 2 года назад

      All of it will get recycled apart from the blades. As of later this year 100% of turbines will be recyclable.
      Recyclable blades have been in the making for years but everyone is quick to comment on 'another one for the landfill".
      You really need to research this as you'll be really surprised at what gets made from recycled turbine parts.

      Sounds like it'll be easier to cut up with them lying face-down flat (almost) on the ground...
      If it's on the other side, you could have a problem. Since the generator housing can be larger than a city bus, parts of the blades that didn't snap off when it hit the ground could be suspended at a height roughly several floors up...

      @@TheLoizeauxGroupLLC I understand that in some situations, you can't share specifically why something was imploded. But, bringing down wind turbines? Are they outdated? Broken? They're being replaced with more modern versions? Often times when I watch one of your videos, I google the site to understand the history of whatever is being imploded. Anyway, I was just making a suggestion as other viewers probably would enjoy more background as well. 😉

    • @arneheins7716
      @arneheins7716 2 года назад

      They are an old outdated generation and are being replaced by more powerful ones. Instead of having 30+ of them, there will be around 20, which will still generate more electricity.
      Obviously newer ones cannot always be installed on existing towers, as newer models often require higher towers, but foundations can often be re-used.
      Some older models get disassembled and sold (either to be used elsewhere or as spare parts).
