Seville, Pearl of Andalusia : downtown and the Plaza de España

Why this idiom "Pearl of Andalusia" ? Seville represents, with Grenade and Cordoba, the Andalusian country, this region in the South of Spain, and shares a special story with North Africa.
It's easy to join Andalusia by Portugal. After Lagos, we wanted to visit a city we have always been dreaming of : Seville. I already had an idea of what it would look like : small streets, a typical downtown of cities who have an Arab-Muslim past (formerly called Al-Andalusia).
But I would have not expect of so much history : the Catedral de Santa Maria de la Sede for example, which is home to Christopher Columbus' tomb and has for bell tower a former minaret. But also the Real Alcazar (which we haven't visited because of too much people and a lack of time) where lived emirs, princes ... And finally the Plaza de España, unveiled in 1929 for the ibero-americano exposition, and narrates the story of Spanish regions (and is also a film set : Lawrence of Arabia, Star Wars II, The Dictator).
Seville has many other treasures : the food, as tapas and cheap bears ; the flamenco culture, with this lively music and captivating dance.
My Portugal-Spain road trip ends here, after 8 days of visiting. I keep in mind lots of wonderful memories and I can only advise you to come explore those beautiful cities on the Iberian Peninsula.
