12. Shotgun Slug - The bizarre NIPPLE-LIKE projectile

- In this "you make it, we mach it" video, filmed safely at a proper range, we test out a batch of Evan's newest creations. No two were exactly alike, but remarkably, they all functioned much better than I would have ever guessed. If you think designing this stuff is easy, it isn't. Evan continues to impress us with each new design.

there's nothing worse than trying to aim with inconsistent ammo. Danny did a great job at shooting.
Loading that stuff is a challenge too, good job Jeff
My life sucks
@@danr5704 very true also. I've never loaded slugs but I'm guessing it takes a lot of maths.
@@Enes-wj5xq feel you
"There's nothing worse"? Really? lol If inconsistent ammo is the worst of your problems, you're living quite the over-comfortable life. The real world is gonna hit you like a brick eventually lol.
Ok I know he missed the intended target but shooting the shotgun hull out from under that target was nothing short of amazing
Such a beautiful slow mo shot. Uninteresting at real speed, but mesmerizing in slow motion. Amazing how "long" gravity takes to start accelerating the ball towards the Earth.
I have to blame that miss on the round. Looks like Danny's windage was perfect, but the elevation dropped due to the round's weight.
@@chaos_omega gravity starts accelerating it towards the earth the moment it leaves the barrel.
@@MODElAIRPLANE100 Not the bullet, the ball they were trying to hit.
@@chaos_omega Yeah, it reminded me of Wile E. Coyote always hanging still in the sky for a while before actually falling. Slow-mo can make some things almost cartoonish.
Those were really surprising! Merry Christmas to the entire Taufledermaus crew!
I'm sure you read a Lot of internet psychic commenters; "I knew... everything". But personally, I still feel like a kid watching your videos. Even after all these years. Thanks for your effort guys! It's appreciated.
Morale of the story : Dont buy the helmet, the atomic defense patch is enough. Also dont make fun of hollow nipples.
I love a story with good morale. Sometimes they even have a moral to go with it. 🤭
all nipples are hollow, it's how they work
Another band OG was in.
Nah, I'd actually really like to have the helmets, especially for going to a public range. You never know if the guys at the neighboring lanes are morons.
Great shooting.
High quality face armor.
Sick ammo.
Awesome episode!
Another big thank you to the team at Taofledermaus.
🍁✌
They're screw caps for a ceiling light fixture. The ones with the holes through the middle are for fixtures with fans.
I think so too
First thing I thought too.
The cap that actually holds the glass to the fixture.. 12 gauge style not at home depot😤
So literally the nipples for the "Boob-lights"
No they are not. Certainly look to be inspired by that sort of design though. This guy machines all sorts of strange shit.
That slow motion footage of the big boy hitting the shotgun shell holding the ball was amazing! That ball just sat in empty space for eternity!
Lol, yeah that was surreal
This reminds me of the THV handgun projectiles we shot in the 1990's. They were supposed to penetrate body armour. We would fill the case of a 9mm Para with a fast burning powder and top it off with the 50ish grain THV. Mad speed and penetration.
47 grain in 9mmP. I tried loading the 45 versions only to discover PMP clearly had 3 different machines making 45 ACP cases and the thinnest ones simply tore off instead of realising the THV. Bum idea really..
I’m also impressed with your ballistic table repairs
Thank you. 👍🏻. 🇺🇸
Interesting as always. Good to see Danny's ugly mug :)
Lars!
Good morning Lars
Thank you Lars! Nice seeing you here!
@@Grim-HEX Morning!
Danny’s not ugly.
He’s just tied for second place after Breanna 😁
All things aside, the joking around, O.G.'s finger wiggle in the through shot of the target medium, The point is, "What will it do and what can we learn today" and the is sewn into every video. that's what I enjoy and is the entertainment in what you and your crew do in every video. I take something with me when the video is over. I can't speak for others, however, that's what I look forward to in the videos on the channel. -Dave
Getting a Danny video on Taofledermaus is like when you get to see a Curly episode of the Three Stooges!
If it fits it ships. Danny is great
So who’s Moe, Larry, Joe, and Shemp?
Think you mean Shemp .Danny has more hair.
@@spacewater7 whos Shemp
@@crazysilly2914 Shemp Howard was the third Stooge with Larry and Moe when Curly wasn't there. Shemp was much more of a 'straight man' than the bumbling Curly.
Brideless Groom and Sing A Song Of Six Pants feature Shemp instead of Curly. Hold That Lion! featured all four.
Those are very interesting and worth further testing.
" sometimes our efforts aren't appreciated though "
Don't assume that because it's a small company, that they aren't doing the same dumbass thing that large corps are doing and just shotgunning their products out to every channel out there that's vaguely in the same topic. They tend to know nothing about the channel. They just want you to advertise their stuff.
Good point
@@alifesh isn't that called a California howdy
Really "testing" their stuff, shooting it with things it could no way be certified for (how often do you really shoot standard rounds?) It really does show the product in a better light.
I for one, gave the mask a little credit in that it didn't do the bullet proof cup thing by immediately deflecting the bullets into a worse place than they were (such as straight into an artery, or in this case, directly through the collar bone area and into the heart). Sure, you can joke how much it would hurt surviving a .45 in between the eyes (when would it not?)however, it still technically did Its job beyond the "1 shot, 1 mask" approach. Of course it would stop ONE shot, why even film that?
In other words, they should look at your video as more of a stress test than a false sales pitch. If they complained, thats their own bad judgement. Keep doing your thing, if they're actually making good products, they'll keep sending them to you, to show just how much abuse they can take.
For what it's worth, I figure the mask actually did pretty darn good. Even if they only wanted it shot just once, it did not allow penetration with the abuse Breanna put to it. The takeaway was that its going to suck to get shot in the face no matter what, but it would probably save your bacon. Can't see how they would be disappointed in that.
Yea I was really impressed by how well it did. Especially how well it held up after the first shot. Kevlar armor is basically fabric. Having it hold up so long speaks well of their product.
Pretty awesome seeing the "THV" design in 12GA.
Good job guys.
"Supersonic nipples" was my band's name back when I was in college
lol
Killer band 😊
Best ballistic testing channel on the Tube.. keep going!
Wow, thanks!
Atom Defense people sound like a delightful bunch.
Edwin Sarkissian's tests will be intersting lol
@@taofledermaus
Maybe he'll throw a "grenade" at one.
If you don't want a fair test then why send it to people that try to test to destruction. If you want a shill, you have to pay for it and expect people to call you on it!
Did anybody else find it fascinating how that ball floated in what seems like midair for forever
Haha, yeah I thought that looked pretty surreal.
Title has me dying. This'll be great
Looks like a Sorry piece. Call it the “Sorry, not sorry.”
Hey atomic defence,
I didn't know about your products before watching these videos.
Yes, I know your products loose integrity after each hit and multiple rounds are outside your design specifications.
Yes, I know your products are not rated Vs shotgun slugs and I do not expect them to perform in such tests.
We understand what the boys do to targets more than you seem to have and we judge on what we see.
Don't give the boys a hard time, I thought your masks did a good job of stopping penetrations...
Well done.
@@CS-zn6pp exactly, as bad as inside of masks was damaged they stopped penetration way better than I expected
My first thought as well
Right on! Evan projectiles are always fun! The either work great or fail great. Never dull!
12:47 I thought that was the coolest shot of all. The ball is completely indifferent to the whirling cylinders of death and destruction.
Evan's mad science slugs never fail to impress

Thanks Homer 😁. 🇺🇸😎
SuperVideo!!! Wonderful shooting of camera and mass accelerator, Jeff and Danny... :)
Really, I have no idea where and how Evan comes up with these oddball desings...
But his slugs are Gorgeously made and work superbly every time - really brilliant machining and design.
Wonderful!!!
He's got a creative mind for sure. I don't know if he has a lathe or uses a drill press to shape this stuff, but he must have spent a LOT of time making them.
@@taofledermaus That is a lot of work - even with a lathe!!!
That's actually really impressive that the rounds were stable at both subsonic and super sonic speed.
So no speak of that awesome ricochet. Thank you Evan Perry and the TAOFLEDERMAUS team for this great vid.
I only have one question... What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?
Out of a rifled or unrifled barrel?
African or European?
Ain't that about as fast a s a nekkid rabbit runnin backwards thru a cornfeild?
Having watched many of these Tests now I'm pretty seriously impressed with the in flight stability of Evan's ideas, like Percentage wise his designs did remarkably well. Perhaps not the hardest hitting - and maybe I'm biased from watching heavy hitters like the tsar bomba and that brass one that went straight through the lead plate, but overall pretty good stuff. Also: I never blame Danny for not aiming properly because I'm pretty sure based on how many times I've watched him shoot- he could hit a lifesaver at 25 yards with an accurate gun no problem. Great stuff as always! Merry Christmas Jeff, Danny, O.G., and all of the rest!
"The aliens are attacking"
"Deploy the alien nipple gun!"
Another fun video. Always love watching the crazy stuff you guys shoot. Companies that send you stuff should watch your channel so they know what to expect.
"Helmet, meet Nipple. Nipple, play nice with Helmet."
Full nip penetration.
DANNY YES GOOD TO SEE HIM . ALSO GREAT LOOKING PROJECTILES 👌. Most of the item used are very artistic looking.
It's about time you promote Danny, he's earned it.
Your videos are always entertaining. It's fun to see what the projectiles look like, and perform like. I always get a kick out of your choices of targets. Keep it up, please.
I have not seen THV rounds like this in forever.
Glad to see Launch Director Danny at the controls once again!
We use aluminium here in Europe Jeff, we cant get aluminum as its too expensive, Merry Christmas mate.

Great video and good to see Danny back you are so lucky to be allowed projectile accelerators best we get in the uk is a.crossbow
OG: Supersonic nipples was the name of my 80’s metal thrash band
I saw you guys open for Madonna at The Palladium.
@@sid2112 we’ll call it “Mach 2 Nipples”
Dammit i will delete my comment. I knew I wasn't that clever lol
I love the dry humor always incorporated in your videos, Jeff. Thanks for the laugh.
That darned wood caused the nipple to get stuck and prevented a patented finger wiggle.
Hey its Danny n Jeff, always good to see a video from all you guys👍
That's a perfect description of that mask: "Bullet-proof-ish."
12:45, that's talent knocking the cartridge off without hurting the ball!
When you let O.G. name the video and don't proof read it
Good video. Glad to see you making videos still. Keep up the good work. Always interesting to see what you shoot.
I’ll go ahead and cancel my Atomic Defense order.
Yea. Idiots. They get great exposure and then screw it up by being dicks.
can somebody explain what they did i don't get it
from the man himself "They didn't like the test on the squash, even though we hit a fresh area of the mask".
@@creepyendy they didn't like the fact Jeff highlighted the structural bone damage that would be done to your face if you took a round wearing one of their masks. Would you survive? probably. Would you be an invalent afterwards, most likely...
.. atom defense was upset with the helmet test... NOT the mask test guys lol.... which tbh I really dont understand, you guys gave them great advertising. You tested their equipment with what it was rated for and some and it held up. Personally I'd be proud if that was my company but some people aren't the brightest.
Awesome video guys I really enjoyed watching first time at your channel definitely subscribing!
I loved when it stuck into the freaking mask!!! That was absolutely hilarious and awesome at the same time!!!
Thanks 😆
Screw the Atomic Defense helmet I’m gonna cover myself with those slug proof patches.! lol
HAHAHA
10mm of pcb resin for me :)
That shot where you hit the shell instead of the ball was awesome on the high speed cam. The ball just hung there forever before gravity took hold.
Alien Nipples? So instead of two projectiles....WE GET THREE!!!
Merry Christmas, Jeff, Danny, Gregg, and Breanna!
Credits to Danny he's a shotgun sharpshooter
I just came across your channel and I love it so much, you guys deserve more subscribers than you have now
Thank you so much!!
Bring back the ballistic gummy bears!
yeah i was suprised on how bullet resistant the sweet gummy bear was.
Thanks Evan for your offbeat slugs ,they always make things interesting and Thank You Jeff and Danny for making another entertaining video
fanciest of fennels. I need to google what that is lol
11:02 you can see it still trying to drill it's way through even after impact.
They look like THV projectiles. The THV (Tres Haute Velocite - very high velocity) they were very light brass projectiles designed to deliver maximum hydrostatic shock with very limited penetration.
Looks like THV ammo was super popular in south africa in the 80's
Loved all the written comments threw out the video great stuff guys!
A partial nuclear explosion is a fizzle. I hereby nominate the term fizzle to be between a squib and full power shotgun performance.
It's so cool that people send you so many different rounds to test. The fact that it just so happened to be alien nipples this time is just a bonus
"Please make a 1 min advertisement of my product"
Have you ever even seen this channel before ?
I guess Atomic defense wanted to show that it could stop "A bullet" not give a thorough and honest review of its strengths and weaknesses.
*MERRY CHRISTMAS TO THE ENTIRE TFM GANG!*
Thank you for yet another year of wonderful stuff for us to watch.
I love visiting with our virtual friends on this channel as much as anything that's
being tested or "accelerated", truth be told - it's been a lot of years and hopefully,
many more to come!
Y'all be safe out there, here 'til I can't be,

The projectiles look like separate frames of an animation of a water drop or something.
Looks like lamp parts, machined into projectiles! Nice work Evan!
OMG when I first looked I thought it said: Danny - Lunch Director
LOL
Loved the hull being shot out from under the ball. Slow-motion is amazing
I'm glad he hit something with that shot!
Love how it took out that shell from under the ball while not trying!
BETCHA HUNTER WISHES THAT WAS HIS DRIVE..:)
So does Joe!
Always good to see you Danny. Stay well,
Ooh ooh - I have a question: I know that Evan makes jewelry, so could you shoot some of his jewelry at some targets?
Nice job Evan, they flew well. Great vid Jeff and Danny.
I'd love to get 32 pieces 16 the same, 4 of the same yet differant, another set of 4, one more set of 4, the 2 sets of 2 and build a chess set of slugs.
Have the expanded slug that Breanna has as a ring be the queen of the set.
Go to home depot/lowe's and look for light & fan fittings.
You'll find what they show here.
that heavy slug slomo was really cool, seeing the 12ga shell flying out from under it and the ball just hanging in the air
For all Dougies out there, we do not appreciate being called dummies. My inner snowflake is going to make me cry.
It's okay, I'll get you a decaf soy/almond milk vegan approved chai latte, hold the micro aggressions. Then buckle up and grab ya big boy pants cause we are doing whisky shots!
Dougie - I am so glad your able to take one for the team! And of course some snowflake will think Doug is actually a person and not our target! Thank you ALL!
at this point i'm surprised if the next wacky slug isn't from Evan Perry.
At this point I'm half expecting the next slug to be Evan Perry!
@@amorphoussolid8512 they get a package and open it to see 13 metal Evan's smiling up at them.
Evan certainly delivered the pressie's this time , a plethora of Pawns from the chess board , Danny spawned the idea , if you moulded one of the better slugs in silicon you could cast some in lead thus adding a bit of weight and of course meaning it will be easier to calculate powder loads and achieve even better accuracy , Good shooting Danny ! , brilliant Camera work as always and as interesting as ever . Thanks for all the great content and helping to keep Me sane during an insane year . Thanks again Guys ! . Wishing You All a Very Merry Christmas and hopefully an even Better New Year . Missed opportunity to have OG test these and say "Supersonic Nipples was my 80's techno band." 😂
I _need_ to see these against a block of ballistics gel... definitely an interesting concept

Dudes pure magic with projectile design, all the weird rounds I've seen fly nice I simply can't believe it, without the slow footage I simply wouldn't lmao
I know this is wrong, but when I see Evan's pic all I can think is "TIMMY!!!"
libinanlou libinalou! TIMMAH!!!
Same here! But I do love Timmy. Considering how internet-famous Evan is now, you'd think he'd send in a pic that wasn't some randomly-taken sort of thing.
he's got a natural 5 head.
That’s kinda cold blooded my guy.
12:46 That croquet ball levitating in mid air was amazing.

I vote we name it "Skywalkers green milk"
Cool video. My son and my mass accelerator tshirts arrived the other day. Look fricking awesome and all wrapped up for the big day. Merry Christmas Taoflederelves and a much happier New Year. Cannot wait for you to test the Space Force rounds in 2021! Lots of love from many viewers over the pond.
Merry Christmas To the whole crew! Danny still got that special place though.
Good work with the loading.
Great video! Thanks a lot for your effort!
I was starting to worry if ANY of them would properly light off after the first two shots.
Nice shirt, Danny! Oregonians salute you!
Mr. Taofledermaus I always watch your videos which are excellent. One can see with your excellent slow camera how the slugs work. I want to send Danny a hello, very friendly man. I hope he is in good health. Here in Argentina very few people experiment with slugs. Shotgun slugs are great!!!
The two projectiles in the center of your lineup look like THV projectiles for 12ga. I first encountered the THV design in 1985 or 1986. The design was machined out of brass for use in a .357. MV was reported to be about 2500fps as these were about 45 grain projectiles. The gelatin results I remember were: entry - .357" or so, exit around 2.0 inches (a real big hole).
Danny is the best! Hope you have him on more often.
