Kevin De Bruyne: "When I was 14, I left my parents to join Genk training center. The first year I ended up in a large boarding school, where you sleep with everyone. Fortunately, the second year, I was with a host family. But things didn't go as planned. I'm someone who is fine on my own, I'm kind of shy. I thought everything was fine, at the end of the year, everything was going well. My foster parents never had to go to school for problems, academic or disciplinary. I said goodbye to them without knowing what was going to happen. Then one day I come home and my parents were sad, they were crying, I asked, 'what's wrong?', And there they told me that my host family didn't want more of me. I asked them why and they said it was 'because of who you are'. I did not understand. 'You are difficult to pin down, you are very calm. You have trouble interacting with the other children. They just find you difficult '. ⠀
It's not nice to hear that when you're 15 or 16. That day, I kicked the ball against a wall for hours. I told myself that everything was going to be fine, and that in a few months I would be in the first team and that I would no longer experience failure. When I came back after the summer, I was in the B team and I told my parents that in two months I will be in the first team. I trained like crazy, I had fire in me. It was as if I had gone mad. I remember we were playing on a Friday night, I was a substitute. I came on in the second half and I scored five goals. That day changed my history in the club and I joined the first team."

Have you ever seen Laudrup play, or watched one of his passing compilations? Some of them are over 100 minutes long, with zero repeats.
On the FC Barcelona channel, Iniesta gives his top 4 legends. Schmeichel, Maldini, Laudrup, and Ronaldo R9. That was 5 years ago. Iniesta grew up idolizing Laudrup. No player influenced him more.
It makes sense he would say Messi is the greatest player now (he is), but I bet Iniesta would still say Laudrup is his favorite.

Coming from someone who players a lot of “soccer”, it’s a technique. You use both a particular side of your foot and your body posture to make the ball curve like that, takes a lot of practice and talent to perfect it tho . The “outer” the side of the foot you use the more curve you put on the ball.

Hey there! Thanks for the reaction, glad you were invested in the clips and actually were focused, trying to appreciate all the details.
Football is indeed a difficult sport, starting from athleticism and technique, along with work ethic throughout many years of your career and football intelligence. What Kevin does is world class. Imagine you start playing football when you are 5-7 years old in a football academy until you reach the age of like 15-17, when you get scouted by representatives of top tier clubs (surely you gotta be good for your age, the bare minimum is to display the understanding of a game). He is 31 now, and he has maybe 5-6 years more of his career as a player, maybe more.

That game last 45 min nonstop, 15 min rest, then 45 min nonstop. We add extra time, if it is stopped. Ex.. player injury
before, you had 3 subs, regardless of injury.
If it is a cup and tied, you play 30 mins more, 1 min rest before, to change sides. You fight 'til you die
no 7 games to feel good about yourself.
In the CHAMPION LEAGUES after the group, you get 2 changes to go to the final. Home and away.
Harder in the Euros and World Cup. After the group, you have 1 chance to prove it to the world, every game until the final
you get 3 days of rest
This is why FOOTBALL is the best.

He’s like a quarterback but with feet - left and right!
To curve the ball you need to hit it on the right spot with the right force but the thing is, that spot and force changes depending on the distance the ball needs to travel and the surface on which it needs to travel (air or grass). You also need to compensate for wind and density/humidity of the pitch.
It’s great to see Americans finally understanding football. There’s no American sport that requires the same level of sheer skill, coordination, speed and endurance in one package:
    - You need Track & Field levels of sprinting speed.
    - The balance and strength of a gymnast.
    - the coordination skills of a circus juggler.
    - the endurance of a triathlete. The average pro player runs 90 minutes non stop, with just a 15 minute break at half time, covering 7 miles of running per game.

Kevin DeBruyne is a legend and a beast BUT if you want to see some real world class passing, you need to react to the video with the trio of Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi together in the same video passing and creating plays between them. It is literally magical to watch. There are other midfielders that are or were legends in passing and creating plays. Franke De Jong, Andrea Pirlo, Lukas Modric, Ronaldinho (although he was a striker/Forward), Sergio Busquets and countless others. I recommend that you watch/react to all who I mentioned on this comment. I look forward to watching more soccer reactions from both of you. Blessings always.

About a decade ago, some scientists did some tests on Ronaldo (CR7) to see the skills elite footballers have, it's a great little documentary and it applies to the majority of sports too.
To play at the highest level requires massive intelligence, quick decision making and a calm demeanour. I imagine being a creative midfielder is somewhat similar to that of an NFL QB who needs to be able to predict the ball slight and perfectly match that with a players run, all while looking through traffic and being pressured and/or on the move.
