Fantastic video! I had been clearing out ice build up every other month and couldn't figure out why. I pulled off the back panel and sure enough, there was gunk in the black rubber valve. Really appreciate the pro tip!
Very grateful for this video! I called months ago a GE tech and paid a lot of money for nothing, he only told me to disconnect the fridge to to melt the ice … it didn’t work…. after living months with a constant puddle I saw your video and problem solved…. There was a “nugget” of insulation foam clogging rubber valved I assume from factory… thanks again!
Awesome video! Probably saved me about $500! My problem was the grommet in the back. Once I took the clogged grommet off, there was a flood of water that came down... for others with this issue you may want to be prepared with towels and a bucket.
This video helped me out immensely. My grommet was clogged with some shards of the insulating foil which then backed up the water and froze up and caused water to pool up outside of my freezer about once a month.
Three weeks ago I emptied the freezer and refrigerator, left it unplugged for about 24 hours, and started all over. Alas, same problem. Today your video told me about that gasket in the back. Sure enough it was clogged. Hoping this is the solution. I am still leaving the darned thing unplugged for 48 hours. Thank you so much for a great lesson!
My fidge is doing all this..I haven't checked out the grommet yet. When I do can I just make the 2 little holes 1 big hole? Will that help it from getting clogged?
@@trisk_7398 I did drill it out. In addition, cut the smaller bottom off the plastic tube to allow it to be larger. Been a month so far no problems. Its been a month with no issues
I have no idea why they designer made the grommet hole so small that common debris and dust would clog the hole so water would stop flowing and then freeze. Just removing the ice does not fix the root cause. One has to clean the clogged grommet.
I would not remove the duckbill grommet. Small rodents could, theoretically get inside the freezer if it is removed. A house mouse requires only about a 1/4" opening to gain access, and I'm sure it helps keep the compressor fan from blowing dust and debris up into the freezer.
I killed the power to the fridge and then used a hair dryer to melt the ice that built up in the tray. Can’t just leave my frozen goods out for 24/48 hours. Haven’t had any issues, been about a month.
It did solve the water leaking! Short video, to the chase and accurate. Thank you so much.
If you re-install the grommet, the problem will happen again. Cut off the restrictive duckbill feature and this problem will go away forever.

Wow mine grommet was so clogged ! I can’t believe no one else told us about this I really hope this fixes the problem.
Thanks so much for this video. The rubber grommet/valve was exactly my problem.

Why are the tube holes designed that way? Why not just cut the middle part so it's one big drain hole? Is there a purpose for it to drain slower?
Best do it yourself description I've heard thus far. Thank you!
My man! This video was so helpful. Exactly the issues I was having. Thank you sir!!
I get also ice melting from the ice dispenser and water on the floor
Once you get the drain unclogged, should there regularly be water in the drip pan at the bottom?
this was really helpful...fixed mine and saved money
This was it, thank you!
Thank you so much, most concise explanation I have seen for this yet.
You saved me 380.00
thanks needed that know how

Thank you. I was hoping for back panel removal video

Is there any reason why I can't drill this out to make a larger hole? Is there a reason for making the two holes so small?
Bump...same question.

The worst design of the drain grommet.

Hello, was curious how you got that white plastic panel off inside the freezer door?
I have the same fridge/freezer and same leak. So any tips to get that off is a plus. Thanks in advance. Great video fyi.
Two small screws on top of plastic cover. My first high signal low noise video. I may not of had enough signal.

@@gregmercer7435 Sorry I have not tried yet. I will reply here once i figure it out.

Great video! This solved my problem. Thx for taking the time to post
Thanks for pointing out the part about removing the back plate and cleaning out the drain tube did not see that another videos
Same situation here, I’ll give this a try. Thanks
This happened to me the first week I got the fridge
Excellent explanation !
Thank you so much for sharing.
What model freezer is this?
THANK YOU
great video helped a lot...
Thank you! Great video. One tip, please put safety tips at the begging of the video.
Thanks for the feedback. Safety at the beginning not at the end. My bad. Unplug the fridge from the wall outlet before you start unscrewing anything.
Thank you.
Thanks!
Can you just dispose of the duckbill grommet, or does it have to be installed?
I assume it’s there for an attachment of the pipe. I assume you can open the hole.

if you want to damage your fridge, than use hair drier. inside the freezer area is an evaporator not condenser.
