I bought a 50's Road Worn back in 2009 in Fairbanks, AK... thing has been all over the world with me between deployments and traveling for work now that I'm out of the military. Solid guitar for the price.

I bought a Fender Telecaster Vintera 50s modded from Guitar Guitar before Christmas as it was on offer at £699 (reduced from £949 I think). Comes with custom shop pickups too. It's got a soft V neck profile which looks very similar to the Tele neck on the blue Strat. I felt that the frets weren't great, a bit sharp on the ends but I assumed that was "period correct" with it being 50s spec. Like the string tree, black pickguard, neck profile, body construction, colour (surf green) were all 50s spec. Oh and it has a plain neck plate no F logo, which again is apparently 50s spec so I think that'll be the reason why the neck plates are plain on those Strats too.

I got a Player Plus Tele from Guitar Guitar in November. I got a Black Strat tribute from there the year before, too. Great shop, and those guitars are fantastic.

I expect to have to do fret work on a squier, but fender is taking the piss on their fret work. Until people complain enough and quit buying because of it, they will never change. Its one of the biggest reasons i stick to squiers on my strats/tele, but dont mind spending the extra for my prs’s. That blue/silver version does get my attention tho. And i love a chonky neck.
Im going to have to check out the fat 50’s too.

I got the Firemist Silver one for £520 locally.... Yeah the frets are poor compared to my Sire but the pick ups sound great, the colour is great, and it just has something special about it. Had nunerous strats over the years, Silver Sky SE, Sire S7, Charvel promod dk24, Player series, classic vibe etc and this is the only one ive really connevted with.
But as yous say, the fret job is poor compared to other guitars I have but it still plays, sounds and looks great and I think its the one.

If you have the chance, please try the Fender JV 60s custom Telecaster, or the JV 60s Stratocaster.
These JV series are a secret gem, and for me, it's the best classic line in all Fender lines.
    Japanese perfect craftmanship.

Had one great MIJ Esquire. One crap 1990 American. Don't hate them but they are overpriced compared to what you can get from better manufacturers in Japan, Korea and Indonesia. Best Regards and Best Wishes!

I bought a firemist silver Mischief maker from Andertons a few months ago. Pretty sure it was advertised with Texas Specials. Now the website says they have CS 59s.. all in all i love it - but you're right the frets are terrible compared to two other 300 quid guitars I own
