My 94 Yamaha FX1 is all stock except the intake grate which was switched to a more aggressive loader style to eliminates Porpoising on choppy water.The stock nozzle is 85mm , matched to the 701 engine for a top speed of 52mph.....all the speed I need.

Physics. Engineering. -- When you increased the diameter of the discharge nozzle you decreased the water's discharge velocity (assuming the engine/turbine RPM stayed the same limited by electronics). Boat speed is related to discharge velocity. You removed those "lumps" or whatever you called them, as well as increased the diameter. The velocity of the discharge is area-related given the same volume/mass flow. Acceleration is proportional-ish to how quickly you can accelerate the water through the pump, so I imagine with the slightly reduced back pressure you'd get out of the hole faster, but with a lower top end discharge velocity boat will not go as fast. I have watched a bunch of your videos and haven’t seen anything about the Kawasaki 750. Do you just prefer the 650 to the 750? If so can you explain why? Is it because it’s a bit smaller and lighter?
No, We just need to get through the older stuff first, everything builds off what came before. The 440, then the 550 then 650. The 750 and the Superjet are next on the list. It is a lot of work to do these videos (a lot of fun too :-). If you notice the 750 I have in my shelves (I refer to it as the russian camo) That is going to be a fun project, as it has a rare factory dry pipe, and needs full resto. The 750 engine is my favorite. I run them in all my 650sx's and x-2's, which means we will go deep on them, so Stay tuned...
awesome thanks for sharing - am doing cdi stuff myself at present so interesting - keen to see the responses of the ski to using different cdi units - so like if an x2 will work woith a 650 - or a 440 will work with a 550 etc - the 650 cdi's available and cheap the 550 not available and need an alternative to stock - if a morobike older pulse fly type road bike like a z 600 or cdi would work - looks similar just a small bulge to deal with - the bikes would have had a 9k rev range maybne thats the way before beefing engine ? we used to layer silicone inside the nozzel on the stock class ski's to make em go faster in low to midrange for racing - would need anopther 60 horsepower to need a bigger nozel 🙂

6k on two stroke twin seems really low. Sleds of that era would be more like 7500-8k. Interested to see what your solution will be!

I thought boring the nozzle gave you more bottom end to pop out of the water.
