I can understand Gen Z and Gen Alpha not knowing about Pearl Harbor. It was 83 years ago, and they have so many distractions today. But, OMG!!! Don-Old is an early Boomer. The Pearl Harbor attack occured only 6.5 years before he was born. How could somebody who grew up in the 1950s live for 70+ years and not know about that??? Not only that, but the man is obsessed with TV. The NYC market had 7 TV channels (CBS, NBC, DuMont, ABC and 3 independents). Three of them were already on the air when he was born. The other four signed on within 3.5 years of his birth. During his childhood, they all played lots of movies and TV series about World War II. Did he think it was all fiction???

Due to mini-Trump Desantis policies, my (FL) home insurance inexplicably became non-renewable just weeks before Milton, despite being paid up and no claims. Now, our house flooded out, we're camping with kind friends, no insurance, facing huge unknown expenses and delays before we can return to the house. Even apart from his anti-woke fascism, Desantis has crippled FL homeowners. Impossible now to sell and leave the state.

As an employer, you will want and are expected to fact check your employees on their work, and employees can't oppose it or they will lose their job. Now why should this be different for the (aspiring) President of the US, being an employee of the people, and why would they as (potential) employers not want to make sure and verify whether he is or is going to do a good job? A President has many ways to delay money that Congress has allocated to US states and territories. Trump held up $20 BILLION meant for Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. He didn't release it for 3 years, and then not the whole amount.

Will trump just had another chaotic disaster following his Coachella rally last night because they couldn't even manage to have the buses gassed up and coordinate to make sure the people they bussed in could get bussed home. And this is not even the first time it's happened just the first time it's happened in excessive heat conditions. It happened in Omaha in excessive frigid cold conditions. You can try and blame it on anybody you want but the true measure of the leader is that they have qualified people that can take care of things that need to be taken care of and Trump is elected plans on firing millions of federal employees and replacing them with Trump loyalists instead of people who are competent to do the job assigned. I know there's got to be more people out there that can manage to pull up their morale inner core and use their long dormant critical thinking skills and realize they need to vote for Harris not Trump. It happened multiple times toward the end of his 2020 campaign. Thousands of people were left for hours in freezing temperatures in an open field in PA. Several dozen were taken to a hospital.

FEMA used to have a policy (late 90s) that when powerlines were repaired they had to go underground. Is that a thing of the past?
It turned out that wasn't always a good idea. In some cases the lines were MORE vulnerable underground, and it was also more expensive.
There are areas where it is not feasible. Costs can be staggering, so some places are doing it in stages.

Corporate media like this needs to start reporting on the energy self sufficient housing developments and not just focus on improving the grid. There is a development in FL right now where they built the houses to withstand these storms and solar and other methods mean they don't depend on any grid. The houses are all standing even though they are near the ocean where the storms came on shore and they have electricity still on. Stop subsidizing corporations and let the people figure out better solutions!
