    FYI For those older as I am 50 first time owner. The bumps in the road will translate into a little bit of a sore back and as I have no cartilidge left in either knees it make a somewhat rough ride on dirt or uneven pavement.
    If you have ridden on motorcycle (I've never have) I'm sure your back is used to the jiggling.
    Might I suggest one with shocks. Gave this one to my daughter.

    UNAGI SCOOTER RENT/MEMBERSHIP REVIEW
    I was super exited about this one but i didn't expect it to be a disappointment because there are so many amazing reviews on it and most of them are not being paid to give a good review. Since they have no place to review it on their official page, i'm sharing my thought with you here. So if you are like me, looking for the right/perfect scooter, i think you need to read this.
    So the cool thing about this scooter is that you can either rent it for 40 buck a month or buy it for 990. The membership is too high in my opinion, that’s where they actually get you with that “one-time registration” of 50 dollars!! But fine, at least you get to try it out and rent it before you go spending a 1000 for a scooter you might not like. So the delivery was super fast, that was a nice surprise. Once i registered I received an email asking me to pick the time of delivery for the following day (options were between 10-2pm or 2-6pm). The next day i received a link where you can see the driver’s location in real time. That was a cool thing and who doesn’t love a 24hr delivery, right?! It seemed promising so far! But, ehh not really.. The driver arrived and handed me the scooter (out of it’s box) the charger and cable. No manuals, no instructions or booklet, nothing. So i called customer services just to make sure that i am not missing any paperwork or instructions, but there was no one to speak to, instead you could leave a voice message, your phone number and name and the reason you are calling AAAND if it is urgent you can email them. LOL really? Email for help? what if it were an emergency??So, their customer service is non existing, so that was very disappointing as i had to go back online and read about instructions.
    So first let’s start now with the things i liked about it:
    The design of the scooter looks sleek, modern and sexy, so yes it is pretty. It is a little bit lighter than other scooters of similar specs (no wonder there are a lot girls riding it), it is suuuper quiet (if you like that) although ppl sometimes get stunned when they see me ride past them as i appear like a ghost all of a sudden. And the one-click fold works great, so unfolding is effortless. There are 3 speeds, and you have the option of turning on the dual motor function, so those rides up the hill are effortless.
    Now sadly i do have more things that i disliked about it..And i was so hoping and really wanted this this one to be THE best scooter for me.
    First of all, whoever said this scooter was a smooth ride must have been drunk! For those who are not familiar, the tires on this scooter are “made of solid rubber and puncture proof, so they’ll never foil your morning commute.” I’m guessing they were scaling between ‘Would you rather never get a flat tire? or would you rather have a nice, enjoyable, smooth ride??’
    Honestly, i would now pick a flat tire once in a blue moon than a super rough, bumby, and unpleasant ride every day! I kid you not, the ride is so damn bumpy that i started having headaches every time i would ride it. Because the tires are so hard, you feel every single crack, bump and rock on the road, all the way from your jaw to your forehead! So annoying! So i would constantly have to watch and focus on the ground, avoiding any cracks and bumps and the continues vibrations from them made me feel tense while driving and it kills the fun of it. It definitely did not make the ride enjoyable. Recently i even fell because i thought it could cross a thin hose on the street, even though i lowered the speed. Now on top of everything i don’t feel as safe on it. Even my partner who has an amazing scooter (no i will not mention the brand name, but if you ask i will tell you) and he tried it and said it truly is a rough ride. His scooter btw is so smooth on the road as if you are riding on butter! Also there is no cruise control, which i think they need to incorporate as you have to keep your right hand on the accelerator non stop, and if you need to fix your mask or glasses (i’m a righty) good luck if you hit a bump!
    But at least now i know exactly what i am looking for in a scooter. So i will not be extending my membership after all, even after only a month of using it. I guess the good thing about it all is that you can rent it and see for yourself. But i would not recommend it, in all honesty. Best of luck and if you do, wear a helmet!!!
    Pros:
    fast delivery / lighter than other scooters with similar specs/ super quiet / one-click easy unfold / emergency manual back brake
    Cons:
    came with no manual or instructions / tires too hard, terribly bumpy, definitely NOT A SMOOTH RIDE/ no cruise control / doesn’t not show how many miles you have left, only the battery bars / glossy finish (looks a bit cheap in my opinion, i think a matte finish would be sexier).

Off course the range isn't as much as the competitors but it makes up for the light weight. I ride the UNAGI more then my m365 or ninebot.

    I always wanted the Unagi when it first came out. I got it a month ago as my 2nd scooter for promo $50 per month subscription plus $4 extra for insurance $0 down free extra charger , free carry bag, and free lock. I put on about 180 miles. My 1st Scooter 40lb Plug City 500 watts rear motor , front and rear suspension(comfy ride) got about 4 months ago. I put 500 miles. My daily commuter to work 5 miles round trip except for rainy days I use my Unagi very good water proofing even in pouring rain. For me Real world range 220lb 6ft Unagi 7 mile ang Plug City 15 miles. Unagi is good as a 2nd scooter I use it on my shorts trip that I know the road is mostly smooth. It's a work of art agile little fun scooter and it's worth it with the subscription.
    The charger the Unagi came with is 2 amps black generic looking a little bigger and the free charger 1.5 amps white and much nicer looking.

    Thank you for the review but the hill climb was the info I was really seeking, so thank you. So, why don’t you compare it to the next best brand model but it needs to be a dual motor for hill climb and same or closest similar weight so it can be easily carried in a subway or 3 flights of stairs by a female. BTW, the 2023 Unagi Voyageur is now out. Look forward to a review.

    • @ElectronSurfer
      @ElectronSurfer  8 месяцев назад

      The closest scooter I have seen to those specs that I've reviewed is the Vsett 9+R, RevRides does have the Vsett 8 in a dual motor as well. Actually portable with good hill climbing is still a bit of a niche, I think dual 500 watt motors is a great concept however most go with much higher wattage, and heavier motors.
      I will reach out to Unagi about the new model, thanks for the heads up.

Most scooters i tried was able to turn at 90 degree angles, however the unagi couldnt turn past ~30 degrees on both sides. Please help! Since im not sure if i got a dud or is that a part of the build, again thanks for such an amazing review! You should do more on other scooters! 10/10!!!

      @ElectronSurfer  4 года назад +1

      @Alex Luo, I always measure handlebar rotation and put it in the description. I got it at 40 degrees, so I think you got it as designed. The idea is if you got your tire stuck in say a railroad track that the handlebars could do a 90 and sent you flying. I dont know if I like the limited rotation but some scooters have it. @@ElectronSurfer i was attracted to the unagi e500 of course for its looks and it being marketed as ‘the iphone of scooters’. As an iphone owner, i was like cool.I’m looking for an electric scooter and it will be my first but i only need to use it for 4 months for school. Renting would be my best option for that cept i find only certain companies rent to either Los Angeles or nyc. I’m in neither of those two.
      My needs: lightweight, portability. I have to be able to carry this up/down 2 flights of stairs at least twice in my day, twice a wk.
      I prefer a smooth ride but i don’t want to deal with flats even on my short 4 block commute that has a couple rough points and some gravel on the concrete sidewalk. I can go around but there will be pedestrians as this is a college campus, so might not always be able to go around. So strong brakes would be important.
      Here’s what I’ve been looking at as most of these are on sale atm/some aren’t:
      Fluid Mosquito - this has dual suspension built in 8” solid wheels by 2” diameter. I’ve talked to prior owners bout it and they say it’s a good beginner scooter/lightweight. $999 price tag (and that’s the sale price too). It seems like a big step up from the unagi in terms of suspension and the bar handles fold down, big plus there is adj height on the bars. Most entry level scooters don’t even have this. IPX5 - doesn’t beat the unagi on everything or other brands. I’m not looking for speed but it can go 28mph and it’s not an unlockable thing either. I think its slowest speed is 10mph. I’m highly leaning towards this. They say it’s lightweight and portable at 30lbs. It has a carry strap which users say it makes it highly easy to carry. I believe it is made from aluminum. I don’t want it to get stolen because of where i will be riding it, hence why i am not looking at a G-force or a Zero scooter. Fluid also offers a great warranty and 50% off parts for life. The parts cost are not bad even without 50% off, so it’s nice to see this.
      I’ve noticed the better spec’s scoots aren’t just heavier but faster too. I don’t need that. I just need point a to point b.
      Aovopro M365 pro ES80 - this seems to be the best clone of xiaomi 365 and i think it’s better spec’s then it actually. On sale for $249 (yes for the authentic one). Has the best IP rating out of all i am considering, IP65. Anti-skid tires, and the sine wave motherboard that’s patented to this brand, it seems like it’s anti-wobble and pro stability which is interesting for its solid 8.5” tires. 350w dual motor, advertised weight is 26.45 lbs. disc brake and e-brake. No adj. bars but it seems like a super great choice at a cheap price. I’ve looked at the other xiaomi clones and this one beats them all. But i don’t know material its made from or deck length/width. If it’s a mi365 clone i guess i can look at the mi 365 and see how big their deck is etc since a clone is gonna at least be same size if not more.
      I wear size 9 shoes (9W) so it was helpful when you placed your shoes on the unagi deck. I prefer a width of at least 5.7-6+ if the length is short.. but if it’s long like the fluid mosquito then the width won’t be as much of a bother then.
      I love the specs of the g-force s10 but it’s not lightweight at 33lbs. At least not for a 1 hand carry which is what i need to do. It’s $899 and has beautiful specs but is it able to be carried. The downside for me is if i see it and change my mind, i have to pay for the return shipping back. And it has to be unridden too. I don’t think g-force stands behind their products.
      Bustin boards & laScoota Skate-X Pro - this one has a skateboard deck, so width/length no issues. Aluminum/steel, drum brake and assisted foot brake, can handle rough terrain for sure, pneumatic tires, ipx4, 36v dc, 500w, 22mph. Can’t try before buy, it’s like g-force, it has to be unridden and you have to pay return s/h if you change your mind on it. This is the only pneumatic one i am considering due to deck space.
      I used to skateboard so i am spoiled by wide decks. I love mountainboards and considered even building a mountainboard scooter (like flexscoot by flexboardz). I don’t have the balance to skateboard anymore hence why i would love a flexscoot. Why can’t someone just build a mountainboard scooter for me or a skateboard scooter. My weight is over a morfboard so that’s not an option. Trust me i have researched a lot.
      I’m under the 220lb mark but w/ a backpack it will bring me up to 210lb and I’m looking mostly at scoots that have a max load of 270lbs + b/c whatever i carry is gonna factor into range, power etc.. so i don’t want anything at the 220lb mark. Tempted though on skate-x which is on sale for $299 b/c its at the 220lb mark and similar to the pro but at least i won’t feel bad about spending $300 instead of $550 and i could prob resell it easily too..but still.
      I hate that this choice is so hard. The plus is unagi lets me try before i buy and they will pay return shipping. I can test it for 30 days but i am 42 yrs old and i read the other review of the other woman in her 50s. I don’t want my head to hurt nor my legs and cartilage and back to get messed up either. She says it’s not worth even a test ride. There’s tons of ppl selling their unagi 500’s - idk what version they are but that’s gotta say something. There’s only 1 person selling a fluid mosquito. No one is selling their skate-x and only 1 person i found selling an aovopro.
      Ugh i still don’t know what to do. Wish i could test ride all of them. Certainly don’t want to buy all of them and def don’t want to have to pay for shipping either.
      I really wish the ES Board electric scooter (3 wheel) was portable. I think i could totally rock that but it’s heavy like the cycle board. Don’t want it to get stolen either.
      Someone help me. Sorry for the book

      @@lostintheclouds8719 That was quite a detailed comment, I'll try to help. If you have strong preferences like the deck and tires, I always suggest going with those. For your weight I would not suggest any motor under 500 watts and if possible get a 48 volt battery which will give you more kick for hills and fun. The Unagi isn't one I recommend for heavier riders, I just don't feel like it is sturdy enough even for me at 175lbs.
      The mosquito looks great to me, you will really appreciate suspension with the solid tires, even for short distances your body will thank you and it will be safer. It is based off the E-TWOW models which are honestly my favorite combination of weight, performance, and are great commuters with their compact fold.
      Some of those cheap options could be an easy way to get a better handle on what you want and easy to resell without taking too much of a hit. Ironically, I find the return shipping and restocking fee is usually close or more than what I lose selling used. When I sold scooters almost everyone who went cheaper or smaller with their first scooter ends up wanted to go bigger very soon thereafter.
      I hope that helps, please ask if I can help more!

    Just found your review. Wish I would had seen this before all the other ones that claimed high praises for this scooter. It’s all about the looks for this scooter, falls incredibly short on delivery for the states specs. Unagi SHOULD be honest with their advertised specs. My Unagi is disappointingly WAAAY short on the range they claim. I’m also 5’10 & 220lbs. Maybe they should tell you that their scooter jockeys are grade school kids, cause honestly those specs are so far off it’s borderline false advertising.

      @George Soto, this is exactly why I started doing reviews. I found it borderline deceptive the advertised range, especially at this price-point. Most companies put some caveat but they certainly bury it in their advertisements. I had thought about being a dealer for Unagi but I couldn't sell this to someone for list price with a straight face! Thanks for taking the time to comment!

    • @ElectronSurfer
      @ElectronSurfer  3 года назад +1

      This is a bit from memory since I don't have the scooter anymore. There are two small allen bolts (3 or 4mm) just inside the stem when fold, one of them adjusts the folding tension. You will get to a point that the button no longer clicks into place to hold the stem upright, when you get to that point back off partial turns until it will pop into place. There will likely still be a little movement, but it should be better. Please let me know if that helps you.

      I haven't dealt with any unagi issues, I can give some general tips. Can you measure the voltage that the charger is putting out. I have seen them show green but not at the correct voltage. If that's good then try the connections, the handlebar is shipped disconnected and I could see that being a source of not powering on. If it's not an obvious connection then it is usually a display/button issue. Good luck!

      @@ElectronSurfer after more time riding it I was able to get up to 6 miles. I've had it for a week now and I would say it's like a 5/10 it's good enough but it's definitely not the best. Also to get to 6 miles I would have to be careful using the battery and try to coast as much as possible. It's been good though. I took it to gnc and the gym in the same day and that was like almost 6 miles and I still had 1-2 bars. Thankfully every thing around me is in range for this scooter which is good because I don't want a car.
      Also when riding on side walks I would limit the speed to 10pmh or close to that because it's very bumpy.
