- Live performance by Pancham with his team ( Manohari Singh , Basu Chakraborty , Marutirao Keer , Babloo Chakraborty & other musicians ) , Jalal Agha & Amjad Khan in a programme organized in Delhi in 1976 for promoting family planning .
Probably this was the programme in which Kishore Kumar refused to sing due to differences with that time Government . As a result , his songs were banned on Govt. media like All India Radio ( Akashwani ) , Doordarshan , etc. w. e. f. 4th May , 1976 during emergency period in India .

@ 2:56 RD Da may have copied tunes or inspired from many songs but his rhythm pattern and rhythm controls were unmatched. Look at this place. He stops the rhythm while the lines are going on and starts with a gap and with a 2/2 where the songs is on 3/6. AR Rahman does the exact thing. No, I am not comparing RD with ARR but just saying ARR has taken this pattern from RD. RD Da was great and SD Da was the greatest.

Unfortunately so many of Pancham Da’s music is not original,this song is a copy of a famous Iranian bands composition. Though he could mix foreign music with Indian tunes.

I am 1960 born and watched the every Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada movies of those day, When ever I see these music shows. I always listen to the songs of erstwhile singer or musicians, like Lakshmikant & Pyarlelal, Shankar & Jaikishan, Kalyanji & Anaandiji, and he greatest of all Mr. Madan Mohan along with great singers like MOhd Rafi, Kishore, Manna Dey, Hemant Kumrar, Mahendra Kapoor so many etc., why Mr. AR Rahman had Oscar award why his music is not played in all these music shows. Because he do not have the basics of music. But as far as me is concerned I might have listened to the music after 1990's accidentally but it was never remembering. This video is published in 2014, that means the present generation is also liking the music of ester years. God bless those musicians Thanks if these music bands are creating the employment or "Rojgar"" for these great artists. Thank You.
I saw Sholay in 1976 or 1977 many times in the largest theater of the world as per the indices of those days in Bangalore the Kapali Theater, where this movie celebrated 365 days full House. This kind of Movie in Hindi fielddom , I get into some Sanskrit "Na Bhoto Na Bhayistahi". Even Bahubali of this era is Zero in front of this movie. I can watch Sholay many time after and after, but u can see the Bahubhali may be once or twice. That is the difference in attracting the audience to the movie.
A R Rehman does not have basics of music?? He is in the top 5 greatest indian music composers of history of Indian cinema...
I too have watched this film in Bangalore Kapali Theater several times and also some other theaters, which I don't remember now, maybe Sangam, Nartaki or Santosh. Those were the golden era of Indian Cinema. Good stories, fantastic music, excellent actors, etc. etc.
If you liked sholay then you would love Western movies. Like American Western films. Good bad ugly, high noon, once upon a time in west, Shane or some Clint Eastwood films etc. Also sholay was inspired by The Magnificent 7.
