I set out with the intention of making a gen t100 video, and it ended up being almost a character study of Clarke? with a very anti-Clarke lens. So, yeah. This video is pretty heavily anti-Clarke, but also it's a critique of the show and the characters. I hope you can enjoy it, and if you don't like my view of Clarke, I ask that you don't dislike the video, just click the little x button on your tab/window to stop watching. Maybe because despite being a huge Clarke fan (or maybe because of it?) I've never tried to excuse her behavior, I don't feel that this is an anti-Clarke video, but just a Clarke video. A really well done one.
Thank you, that really means a lot! And to be perfectly honest, I'd be the biggest Clarke fan if the show and the fanbase stopped trying to excuse her actions and actually let her be a flawed, morally grey character, since flawed, fucked up characters are my *jam*!
I called it an anti-Clarke vid because I was tired of her stans coming here and being angry at me fkdljsf, but I'm so glad you enjoyed it!!
thechøsenøne I love morally grey characters too! They are always my favourites, but I hate when people try to excuse their behaviour. Understand yes. Explain the why, sure. Condone? That’s usually me; but excuse? Nah ah. Just because the end “justifies” the means, doesn’t change the fact that the means are foul. Just because the reasons for dirtying your hands are righteous doesn’t mean you can just wash them off afterwards. If I forgive them, it’s because there’s SOMETHING to forgive.
One of the reasons I love Clarke is because she knows “there are no good guys”. She does what she does “for her people”, for what she believes in, or just for survival; but she always carries the guilt. “I bear it so they don’t have to”. And yet, despite saying a few times that if she could’ve she would have done things differently, I feel she means if there was another way to get the results she wanted. That if there wasn’t, she would still do what she did despite knowing the way it’ll weight on her soul.
Btw, if you love morally ambiguous characters, I think you might like James Flint from Black Sails (he’s my favourite character EVER) and Melanie Cavill from Snowpiercer.
@@redcolouredwings no. I don’t think everything she does is excusable however I understand why she did it and don’t hate her for it. I also think a lot of what she did was justifiable in a way. Clarke is every layered and complex. I think she’s the best character and I think she is very flawed but I love her flaws.

I've always seen from episode one that Clark is a very big hypocrite. Either she's saving her people, or she's sacrificing them for her own agenda.

Bellamy. 320 people died in s1 because he didnt want to be arrested, in s2 he too pulled the lever with clarke, s3 he helped pyke kill 300 people, leading to lincoln's death, s4 he let clarke to die,s5 he put madi in danger even though clarke asked him not to, s6 he again ignored clarke was killed and s7 he screwed everyone to be cadogan's bitxh
@@erebus1005 Bellamy only pulled the lever so that he could comfort Clarke. That’s it. He didn’t leave Clarke to die, she got left behind. There’s a big difference. Bellamy was actually the last one waiting for her. In season 5, Clarke didn’t trust Bellamy enough to let Madi become commander. Madi wasn’t in danger until Clarke made a deal with Octavia to sabatoge the plab that both her and Bellamy agreed on. She put one person before all of Wonkru, when that person wanted to help her people by becoming commander. Idk what you’re talking about in season 6. Bellamy was about to kill all the primes because they killed Clarke. He was the one who brought Clarke back! In season 7, even though he basically betrayed everyone, he was still right in the end. Again, Clarke and the others didn’t trust him enough.

Octavia tried to kill madi even when she made a deal with octavia, thus proving clarke was right that madi would be in danger. S6 bellamy thought clarke was dead and did nothing, he even lied to Abby so that she would help the primes... yes he saved her but he didnt try to get justice for her...s7 he did betray everyone and he was right about trancedance but he was wrong about "the last war" and about Bill, because he couldnt pass the test, and it doesnt matter if he was right simoly because he would have his family executed just to become tje light.
I love Clarke and she is one of my favorite characters... but even I can see and appreciate when a video is fantastic and very well done 👍

From my conclusions up to season 6, I have realized how much I hate Clarke’s character. From season one she was portrayed as a hero, someone who knew the right thing to do... which was get peace. I liked her back then. By second season, I didn’t even blame her for killing all of the mountain men because she was “saving” all of her people, yet after that, she kept constantly making bad decisions. How come Clarke wanted peace and wanted to share the bunker with every clan, but the moment they were having a fair battle for it, she deceived everyone and kept it for her clan (the only people that will survive the radiation). She left valuable people up there, and even though they found a way out of it (thanks to Octavia) she still had selfish intentions. By season 5, I had full on rage against her. This time she cared about no one, not her people and not even her friends, just one little girl. And I get that she is important to her, but Clarke was willing to hurt her just so she could be safe and the rest of the human race could perish. She’s a backstabber and always thinks of herself first. Like even that time she let the missile bomb the hundreds of Grounders all for their “plan” not to be disturbed. All over, I hate her a lot because although she had been there to lead several times, she made selfish and harmful decisions for herself and her “people” because she can never seem to see the bigger picture. Yet, no one has confronted her because she is portrayed as some sort of hero, Wanheda.
You say she always thinks of herself first but if that was the case she wouldve let everyone die multiple times over in order for her to walk away unscathed. Even when she does backstab everyone she makes the right choice and saves them. You're pretending as if Clarke wasnt around that any of them would have survived at all. Everyone likes to blame her for her actions and pass judgment on her but yet when they need to survive she is the one left with saving them even if it means killing everyone else to do it.
Jacob Morris yeah just like you said... she kills everyone else for it. Okay I agree she was the protagonist in the beginning and she helped people survive, but it all went downhill after that. Countless times she sacrificed the grounders lives and even her own people’s just for Maddi!! Like in season 7 she literally killed Bellamy, who has done so much for the team, just because he practiced a different religion and took Maddi’s notebook of drawings??? Like what. She’s become so reckless after season 3 and doesn’t value morality and equity among all.
Noone has confronted her? Really? Everyone is throwing shit at her and she doesnt deserve it... yes she wasnt perfect but she was always trying to save her people... you think she doesnt see the bigger picture? If the mount weather hadnt used the missile then they would have used it on the army headed to them 3 episodes after thus killing thousands. S4 she ended up being right because the farm had a problem and they had to EAT EACH OTHER TO SURVIVE. You didnt mention she was left to die but somehow she should ignore that... in s5 she asked bellamy not to make her child a commander basically making her a target ehich they did and octavia tried to have her killed... let's see eho clarke is... she is the one who was willing to put the flame in her jead to stop alie even though she knew she could die, she was eilling to become a test subject for the nightblood serum, she chose to take her helmet off and give it to murphy although she thought the serum didnt work, she chose to die to save her friends when she could get back to the bunker. She was silling to die and gice her body to joshephine so that her people could live, to pretend she is joshephine in order to save everyone, to bluff about having the flame knowing cadogan would kill her...
@@erebus1005 the farm never had a problem. The reason they had to resort to cannibalism was not because the farm was malfunctioning. It was because they couldn’t get out of the bunker. The farm was only meant to last 5 years, but since they couldn’t open the door, they had no food.
That being said, Clarke had no right to cheat in the conclave. She didn’t believe Octavia could win, and she left Octavia and Kane outside (not to mention Raven, who was still alone on Becca’s island), even after Octavia told them she had won. All because she wanted to “save her people”. But right before the conclave she was all in Roan’s face saying “that’s the difference between me and you, Roan. I want the human race to survive, even if it’s not my people.” And then she goes and takes the bunker for her people 😐
The last episode of season 7 PROVES that it doesn’t matter if she was trying to save her people. The damage is too much. She killed too much. That’s why she failed the test. The reason why people get mad at Clarke is because she always decides for everyone. She decides whether someone lives or dies. She chose to kill Bellamy. She didn’t have to! She didn’t even get the book that she killed him for. She chose to betray everyone in season 5 just to “save Madi” when Madi wasn’t even in danger. She even tortured Madi so she wouldn’t run away!! That’s so selfish of her! She got Raven and Shaw tortured.
@@darartumusse1303 go watch the season again. The farm had a problem in less than 5 years and the resorted to canibalism. Yes clarke did a selfish action not only because she didnt believe in octavia but because she didnt believe the grounders would keep their word. Was it selfish... yes... and maybe wrong too... if we consider the fact that in those 5 years the people resorted to canibslism because there wasnt enough and then no protein then what is everyone in the bunker? As bad as clarke. In s5 madi was in danger... octavia almost had them killed. Yes clarke chose to save madi over everyone else just like raven and murphy chose to save themselves over everyone else... you do realize that if they have killed the prisoners then earth would still be safe... but no they thought "screw everyone, i want to live" just like bellamy decided to make a kid the commander and put her between a civil war... woncrou and those who still believed in the spirit of the commanders... yes clqrke has done things and has decided who lives and who dies as she says "i bear it, so others dont have to" do u think anyone would be alive if it werent for clarke? Nope. She saved them in s1, she saved them in s2 "genocite", s3 she stopped allie, s4 she chose tosave bellamy and the others even though she thought that she would die, if you remember they thought the nightblood serum didnt work. If clarke hadnt saved them then everyone would have eventually died in the bunker.... s6 hmmm woncrou was in cryo and who saved them? I know... CLARKE. Who stopped madi/sheiheda again proving tjat madi wasnt ready for the flame as she wasnt trained and she was almost killed by it. S7 clarke was willing to die to save everyone from bardo and bellamy would have them all executed just to become the light. Well everyone trancended and came back so that says a lot about clarke. She sacrificed her soul so that other people didnt have to. Bellamy killed people too... s1 he let 320 people die just to save his own ass, s2 genocite, he agreed so equally responsible, s3 he helped pyke kill 300 gtounders and led to lincoln's death, s4 let clarke die, s5 betrayed clarke, s6 again betrayed clarke at first, s7 betrayed everyone...
I love Clarke but this video is so so good even if you say it's anti-clarke I really liked it, we all have different opinions in the characters and the things they've done to survive and this is a really interesting character study so kudos to you girl 💜
Thank you, I am really happy that you still managed to enjoy the video despite my (admitted) anti-clarke bias! Character studies are my favourite thing to do, and hopefully I can do more (of all the characters) once the show is over!

The 1 season Clark was good because she was actually “saving people”. But the rest of the seasons she talk so big about saving everyone but end up doing the most selfish things that get people killed, and idc I don’t like her sometimes
yea she did make some bad decisions in season 1, but I'd give her a pass because she was just a teenage girl at the time who didn't know how to lead, and why would she? But by season 4 she should know better than to make the rash choices she made.

Count the number of people she saved and that of who she killed. And note that she killed people eho tried to kill her first... the people of mount weather... they had killed thousands of grounders and took the 100 prisoners drilling them alive just to become immume to radiation...the grounders tired to kill them like a dozen of times when clarke asked for peace...
You can’t invalidate the bad things she’s done by saying the good things she’s done. Eithrr way she’s still Wanheda. She still has the highest kill coubt in the entire show

I really dislike Clarke. I get that she is a strong character, which she is! Probably one of the strongest there, but she is such an all-around bad person! She is manipulative and selfish and she always screws things up and betrays her "friends" and then comes back and says "I'm sorry" as if it changes anything. I think she sucks sorry not sorry
I don't think she's manipulative: she can talk with and "convince" people who share oppinion with her, and those who don't she always fail to convice and then try to force them, that's what rapists do,

This is an ANTI CLARKE video! If you are a huge Clarke fan then this video is probably not for you. And if you actually watch the video, you'll see how I juxtapose her actions with the actions of characters like Lexa, Bellamy, Kane etc. - critiquing them as well. This is a character analysis of Clarke and her actions, and also looks into other characters too.
Frankly, with how many videos I've seen bending over backwards to absolve Clarke of all her wrong-doings, this video is merely a drop in the ocean. I'm really not interested in debating how much I dislike Clarke so if you're gonna leave a comment defending her or telling me how wrong I am for disliking her then it'll just be ignored & deleted. I don't really see this as an anti-Clarke video - it's just an honest assessment of her actions. People can draw from that what they like - whether they think her actions were justified or not. Personally I'm a big fan of Clarke, but I really appreciate how well this video accentuates her flaws.

murphy’s “maybe you should’ve been commander” quote alongside her almost-ascension works really well put together - i’d forgotten that quote, so i see where your theory about her taking the nightblood comes from. she’s distressed before that even in that conversation, so i can’t say i’m switching sides on that, but put together in the vid it works really really well!

I actually like Clarke but I really appreciate how complicated she is, being flawed and not always making the best decisions for the sake of her people. There's no question she has an authority complex needing to always be in control of the situation she's in. That being said I actually had an idea for making a video similar to this seeing her through the lens of becoming a villian and this really inspires me. Great video!
