Yes, GPS assist is perfect, IF you use the correct settings. I may be sold on swathing, but only when we have a 3pt hitch on her harvester so I can pickup swath and bale at same time. No way am I gonna run same field twice, manually. As swathing goes at 9mph and pickup is 7mph, plus 25% BONUS, can be lucrative but only if you manually do field once, not twice....and remember, you HAVE to run grain cart manually as well.
I preordered the game months ago but had no plans on swathing. In Fs22 I grew one field of wheat for my chickens and bailed the straw to mix into TMR for my Dairy Cows. Based on this video and its results, I conclude that I WILL BE SWATHING.
So I tested this on Hutan Pantai Field 2 and the Results are Disgusting! in a good way. I had enough Grains to fill the MAPS grain mill, Oil mill(canola only) and I filled the smallest forage bunker with straw 3 times over I had to rent a HUGE bailer to deal with the rest of the straw and I was still feeding chickens, and providing bedding for my Water Buffalo's and the TMR... this thing get alot more grass I turned field 35 into a grass lands & again in a year filled 3 bunkers with Silage & hay then mixed a bunkers worth of TMR lol
Personally I’m not a fan of swathing giving more yield; it should allow you to harvest your crop sooner. It would be more in line with real life and just more realistic in general.
@@C20F in practice if you’re producing a second crop in a year when you’d normally only get one you’re practically doubling your income in the same time frame.
I can't wait until modders add old swathers, maybe bundle binders and stationary threshers :D I'll be able to play FS the way my parents farmed the land in their youth. Though not quite, as my parents were born before tractors were in their families' farms
When/if courseplay comes to fs25 it might be worth it. I rather have 25% less yield then do the manual work that i rather spend on making silage, hay and grass bales for the animals. On hard mode it's going to take alot of years to break even on the investment.
hi farmer cop, dropped a like and full watch on your video, thanks again for showing this because i forgot how the swathing works since i havent swathed for a while in farm sim 22 so this refreshed my mind a little bit on the subject. thanks bro.😀
I think the mower attachment can mow the crops like an forage harvester...but instead of loading it in a trailer i think maybe you can pick it up with a loader wagon
Not sure if you have contact with mod makers but I believe a measuring mod so we can build exact farm layouts to resemble ours would be neat. Getting exact acerage for made fields and designing a farm layout that is close to exact that we have.
Questions.... If you bale the same field as you tested on, was there a difference, or do you get the same amount of straw, compared to the pickup wagon? And is there a difference, from using additive on both the pickup wagon and the baler in wheat straw?
Any chance you can select dropping the swath on the left or right? If you can then you can set the harvester at 24.4 meters and pu two swaths at the same time.
If you mean the weird thing where the license plate had an afterimage looking thing, then I'm pretty sure that's just youtube compression being crap, and isn't actually visible in game. RUclips REALLY doesn't like fast moving details, and causes motion blur and artefacts when things move quickly across the screen, such as the license plate when he was panning the camera around.
I'm no expert nor an IRL farmer, but I imagine the bigger combines are needed because you're still harvesting 12.2 metre's width worth of grain and straw. A smaller & less powerful combine can only cope with so much material at a time, hence the narrower headers.
@TheBrainios ive done some research, and the consensus i found was that swathers increase the quality of your product by initiation the drying process before being "harvested" thus allowing unripe patches to ripen aswell and giving a higher quality end product. But since product quality is not accounted for in farm sim, its a good solution to increase yield to simulate an increase in quality.
Irl we swath our Canola to get it to dry out uniformly and have it all ready to swath at the same time, otherwise you can have part of the field starting to shell out while other areas are still green
i wish they actually just had mechanics that would support why swathing is done IRL, stop making me roleplay every aspect of farming in a simulator game
So why do they farm swath IRL? For context, I am a truck driver IRL, not a farmer. Also, you said "Stop making me Roleplay every aspect of farming in a simulator game." Maybe I misunderstand, as to me, that is EXACTLY the purpose of a "Simulator".
@@jollyrogerhobbies2386 in real life swathing is often done in wetter climates, as crops will often not stop growing in those climates. So what they do is cut it when its roughly time to harvest, then it can dry out on the ground for the harvester with the pickup header to pick it up a few days later. The way its implemented here is kinda weird, because swathing doesnt net you a greater yield, it just makes it so you're able to harvest your crop in the first place.
@@linux_doggo I wonder if swathing would actually do this in game as well? Like, if you wanted to RP being in said wet climate you set the storms probability much higher, and thus it rains far more often. You can't normally harvest crops in the rain (Or do so at a much decreased yield. I forget which). In which case maybe swathing would allow you to chop the crop down even while it's raining, then you can let it sit on the field and sleep until the rain stops, without worrying about the crop withering in the field.
Do any one Know why i cant store Straw in the hay loft building?! it's in the description that it's for hay and straw. but i can't use it for straw and it's pissing me off so much, thanks :D
Whether it's actually worth it or not calculation NEEDS to include the 300k investment in order to do this in the first place. How large is your field and what economy settings you're playing on. It's not as simple as 25% more. If it takes you entire playthrough to make it even, i wouldn't say it's worth the investment.
For someone like me that exclusively plays on hard mode it seems to be very hard to justify it. Especially when you consider the extra work i have to do without AI workers. Could be working on grass, hay or silage to feed animals while the AI harvests the field. That extra productivity might be worth more then the 25% extra yield. With courseplay it might be worth it.
I cant possibly include the calaculation in a test, that has far too many vafiables from equipment to game mode to crop type. All i can do is tell you what it does and let you make an educated decision
@@FarmerCop Oh it wasn't a stab at you. I was in general replying to everyone because there were some false-ish comments to this video. You're good farming officer!
Has anybody figured out how to use the pw8 header for the regular combines to pick up the windrows on a header trailer? The combination screen says it fits on the bardo 20t but I can’t get it to lock down when side loading. If I unfold it, it tips the header backwards
After all these years they still dont seem to understand farming and why certain things sre done. They could have made this mkre realistic and better game play imstead of just adding an extra step for a but more yeild. Like mowing oats with the grain still on it to make oaten bales.
That not real tho I farm and u would get way less straw by swathing it and picking it up vs straight cut and u also get loss when swathing it thats completely backwards of real life
It's not worth the time and capital investment for me. It's a game to me, not a second job. I'd rather put my money into the Case IH Axial Flow and harvest the field once and be done with it.
Your 12.2 looks a lot like 11.2. 🤣

The mower on the grain crops that leaves straw swath might be useful to use on a withered crop to get some straw out of an otherwise wasted crop.
Ya that was my thought, hopefully don't make that mistake though.

Is there a conditioner option for the grass mower to produce hay right away?
I’m definitely going to be swathing for that bonus to wheat for my chickens and straw to put towards TMR and bedding for manure
I would have thought the straw volume would have gone down not up, thanks for the info.
Can you check if the 25% bonus works on collections from orders?
What is with the flying artifacts in the game, Ive noticed them in my game as well? Looks like shooting stars accross the screen at times.

Thanks for this informative video. Seems like swathing with the mower would be convenient for grass--eliminates a windrowing pass.
Still quicker with the Krone BigM

Great video, really good information, thanks FC.
What happens if I were to mow the wheat? Does that give me the same amount of straw that swathing would or will that give me more straw than swathing?
will swathing give a 25% to grass aswell?
Can't wait to try it all out myself in three days
