Opposite - there are much fewer here in the states (comparatively speaking to them, we have a bunch but nothing like them) but Carp are barely targeted here - most places consider them trash fish in the states (just a fact not my personal opinion I enjoy carp fishing). But reading down the comments and seeing the lack of hate, I have a feeling I answered my own question.
We've heard about pay lakes over here but that's not what these are. They certainly don't sound good. One of the things that is really important to UK anglers and the fishery owners over here is fish welfare. They certainly don't take fish from the wild, they either breed their own or buy them from regulated and registered fish farms. The water quality is regularly tested and aerated and the fish are well fed. Over here carp are highly prized. Many European anglers find it highly offensive that US "anglers" bow fish for carp and simply throw them away. I'd say respect is the key. To each other, to each others sports, to the environment and certainly to the fish. Imagine motorsport competitors hating on other motorsport disciplines. They have respect. Anglers seem to like to argue with each other.
Just catching a bunch of carp? We catch those in Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana. We consider carp a trash fish and knock them on the head, and throw them on the bank.
@@RobHughesTV I wouldn't say proud. More dumbfounded, that they consider carp a sportfish. To each their own! At least they're having fun, and taking people's money.
@@Ryanlawrence84 you were clearly being a smartass and denigrating their style of fishing. Fishing is different there for a reason, I've seen videos of people in the UK fishing the salt like we do but their freshwater situation is quite different than ours, they target carp because of that
@@RobHughesTV it actually IS conservation here because they are an invasive species here! But, to each their own and I'm sure this could be fun! I can get into any fishing! From spey rods for steelhead, pitching jigs for bass, ice fishing for perch or Kokanee, walleye, need to do more saltwater fishing for sure! Point is, each place has its own culture and challenges. I bet these carp get heavily pressured year round and are a tough customer to fool.
@@RobHughesTV I can hit the same size target that they are, but quicker and I'm not limited by the pole length, and I don't possess near the skill that many stateside bass tournament anglers have. Now the pole may have a quieter bait entry, but that stealthyness might be nullified by the shadow of the pole.
How incredibly strange. All of this effort and money for some dinky carp in a dinky pond with 50 other people all next to each other? 🤨 You can find bigger carp in a drainage ditch

They call them trash fish around here. Money fish it appears!
What the hell is this?
Just catching a bunch of carp? We catch those in Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana. We consider carp a trash fish and knock them on the head, and throw them on the bank.
You must be very proud... That's fantastic conservation!!!!
@@RobHughesTV I wouldn't say proud. More dumbfounded, that they consider carp a sportfish. To each their own! At least they're having fun, and taking people's money.
@@RobHughesTV it is conservation because certian types of carp are a invasive species in many areas
I bet these carp get heavily pressured year round and are a tough customer to fool.
only in the uk is all i can say.
What in the hell! 🤣🤣🤣
Wow a £100k prize, that'll keep you in maggots for a wee while.
how hard do they hit him on taxes over there
If the angler is a pro then they get taxed. If a normal angler, then it's tax free
unlucky jamie lad always next year
The fish do not stand a chance with all these human blobs going after them.
I gotta say, this is the most inconvenient way to fish for carp! It’s so stupid. The amount of equipment and cost for a bottom feeder fish is so dumb.
instead of using a 50' pole, they could just learn how to use a baitcaster.
@@taylorhickman84 Pole is hugely more accurate and precise
@@RobHughesTV I can hit the same size target that they are, but quicker and I'm not limited by the pole length, and I don't possess near the skill that many stateside bass tournament anglers have. Now the pole may have a quieter bait entry, but that stealthyness might be nullified by the shadow of the pole.
Ok I know im an American and everything but What the f%^#K am I looking at right now
Carp fishing 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣
That's an odd type of fishing.
It's huge in Uk
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Fed Testosterone
Awesome 👍
V
coisa ridicula isso de transformar tudo em esporte
i fishing to eat,not for a prize. WASTE MONEY.
Not a waste for Zak who trousered 100k
How incredibly strange. All of this effort and money for some dinky carp in a dinky pond with 50 other people all next to each other? 🤨
You can find bigger carp in a drainage ditch
This is wayyyyy too easy! Honestly
Not really. Ask the guys who didn't win
It doesn't matter if it's easy or super hard. It's a competition so that's what gives a challenge.
It's not easy there. They have a different way of fishing and carp are pressured there so they focus on gear and complicated rigs to present their bait differently. You probably think rockfishing is respectable when in reality it's much simpler than this
wtf is this lol, a 100FT fishing pole?!?! Why not just allow walking around? You know these dudes are slap wore out after a day of fishing with that junk :')
Ggggggg
Look at these copy cat fishing techniques for the Chinese! And they said Chinese copy.
Wtf is going on here……
hhahahahahhahahahhha
This is weird
Not a good time to discuss fishing when WW3 is at your door lol
fishing for carp? ... carp.
I feel like I can do better with a ugly stik and some worms.
