I have just realized recently how much anxiety this and the rising lava video cause, with it constantly coming so damn close to his feet over and over again.
Honestly what I like about Level up videos is that they are not only well made and the characters use clever tricks to solve puzzles, but it is also the fact that his videos already show us these concepts earlier on, and others foreshadow other concepts with other concepts making all the videos feel connected from a lore and worldbuilding perspective, but also gives consistent engagement to both new fans sticking around to see the next new thing, and old fans a reason to stick around and some probably even guess what would the next video be about.

I think 2:39 was the most brutal way Mario died in this video. I mean, just getting crushed in between a platform and a wall. The way you kill the characters, even if they have more lives, even if there's no blood, get more brutal upon making more content honestly, and I love it.
@@Nosoulnopowerfrom what i saw in 2:39 mario was first crushed between the falling platform and the wall and just 1 or 2 milliseconds after that he got melted / liquified
but what makes it different than lava outside of just seeing a skeleton instead of simply dying normaly? also i recall there is that purple bubbly goop that could act like acid in forest stages IIRC or was that just Yoshi's Island?
This is more of a reply to the other replies here than the original comment, but what he's trying to say is that acid should be able to be used in more themes than just forest, and possibly as a manually placeable element in levels. Although tbh I'd rather this be done for lava instead because it thematically works better with more level types
The attention to detail is great; I love how the final boss platform is already slowly sinking into the acid the first time Mario stays on it, but it becomes most apparent when Bowser Jr. was left stranded at the end

When comparing Toxic Tower, Ripsaw Rage, and World 08~03 (Forever) to this, however, Mario's Rising Acid Escape is too technical of a concept for Nintendo's devs to deliver to the player outside of a Special World or Grandmaster Challenge: The ways that Mario perishes in this are too cheap for Novice and Amateur level players to truly react to quickly enough and that is what would concern me from a Level Design standpoint, there is not enough Warning in some of these traps and the layout is too delicate in a way that there is only one precise method to complete it, a factor that is also complained about with certain Mario Maker Customs; if we were to get this in an official capacity, it probably would be handled similar to Toxic Tower or Ripsaw Rage, there would be multiple routes to make it to the top but would also force the player to show what they've learned throughout the game, the stage is meant to deliver a genuine challenge but not to the point where north of Ten Chances (Lives) are lost in unpredictable fashions such as what we see here (though even I must admit that I did get a good laugh out of some of the ways Mario fails) and it would be nice to see how Miyamoto would approach this in a future Two Dimensional entry.
