Your feelings about the SOUTH is off base guys and gals!❤😂 Don't believe everything you hear or see about the SOUTH. If you haven't been to TENNESSEE, East TENNESSEE is where I grew up and now moved back. If you haven't experienced Southern Hospitality, first hand them all the stories, EXAGERATED stereotypes ( PER😂 USUAL), and agendas of certain people. Past is the past, and THERE IS UGLINESS , BIGOTRY, AND EVIL EVERYWHERE in the modern day, my friends. Not just in the South!!

Finally, you guys are watching a true cult classic that actually flew under the radar. Slither is such an awesome horror/comedy. Gross, gory, funny, great characters and solid acting. The pacing is honestly the reason why this movie is so much fun to watch. Things just keep happening one after the other and it doesn't stop till the end. James Gunn's first film and my favourite.

James Gunn is actually an avid animal lover. I think he understands how harmful animal abuse can be and thats why he shows it. He's expressed many times before how he loves all animals. Its conflicting for sure but the fact that he puts an emphasis on animals alone should show that he somewhat empathizes with them.

Re: your question at 40:12 - I've always assumed it's because good thriller/horror directors know how to keep characters likeable and sympathetic in the midst of extreme/absurd circumstances (which is also key to good superhero/fantasy stories). And they also know how to handle tension, rhythm, and pacing (which is also key to staging good action/suspense scenes).

And because they knew the movie would flop, they loaded the DVD with the most bonus features I have ever seen.

Funy movie. I remember saw it some years ago. But I have to say that this takes a lot of things from 80's movies that I grew up and I love them: "The Thing" 1982, "Night of the Creeps" 1986, "The Blob" 1988 , "The Stuff" 1985, "Society" 1989. Here someone put all those ideas together with the advantage of CGI that in the 80s the filmmakers did not have and that is all. If you wacht those 80s movies you will see clearly what Im talking about. Easy, the trick here is to let a few years pass. Take ideas from others, make a movie with them, not mention that in the credits and then let the new generations who don't know those old movies see the yours and get all the claps. I have 41 years old and when I see young people like you in yours twenties or thirties saying "this movie is so smart" and I see you so fascinated with this becouse you dont know where those ideas come from I feel so aagrrrr😬😤. Who listens to old people anyway. Sad.😟😒

After seeing Slither, I can see Gunn doing a character like Parasite for Superman:Legacy.
Also if you like this movie, then watch Night of the Creeps also, great 80s flick.

Really enjoy this channel and this movie. Disappointed to hear you have an antiquated view of the south. I'm a native american, look nothing like most people around me, lived down here half my life and never been assaulted verbally or otherwise down here.

You guys should watch The Rookie series. Nathan is the best in that and he’s real down to earth in that show. (Far from the cocky Dbag in his earlier roles, even though we dig it when he plays that.. the real life Nathan Drake 😂)
