- I bought one of the many dental handpieces that are floating around on EBay - I want it for fine carving/modelmaking work. Still waiting on the control unit.
The handpiece claims to be a NSK Pana Max PAX TU B2. However, I'm unsure whether it's genuine or not, since it only cost £18, and the actual retail price of branded NSK handpieces is well over £300! Regardless, it looks very well built and spins smoothly.
For those who have never used a dental handpiece before (like me) - the bur is held in a clever little friction-grip collet. Pushing the button on the back of the handpiece releases the grip, allowing the bur to be inserted/removed. It's gripped sufficiently tightly that it'll never budge during normal operation.

@@deivsonsantos1634 I only used it a few times before switching to an electric spindle (the application was engraving ceramic tiles on a router using a diamond bur)

Haha, I'll book you in ;-) Brief history of why I'm playing with these - last year we started making glazed ceramic tiles by machining designs directly into the ceramic with small diamond dental burs. I needed a really fast spindle, and found a 60,000rpm spindle from China which works great. However these tools really benefit from higher speeds, hence why I wanted to try a dental spindle, which should managed a few hundred krpm. I suspect the power level won't be much to do anything serious though - generally they're around 20W.
Currently waiting on a control unit for the handpiece, which has all the connections, foot switch, water bottle etc. It's crazy the stuff you can find on EBay!
I hope for some video of this thing running and making stuff. Yes, eBay is really great source for everything.

What's different between fake and original??
@@ducegokul3852 fake is lower quality and wont last long. I have both fake and genuine and quality is very different. Its like asking whats the difference between a Lexus and a chinese BYD knockoff car lol. You get what you pay for though, you can buy a highspeed worth $13 that is chinese made and compare to a $5000 high speed that is german made.

Of course it's fake! But it works very well.
@@imajeenyus42 it does actually work good, but doesnt last as long and towards the end of its short life time, it will get loud, vibrate then stop spinning. I will say its good for using on typodonts for school as it will last a couple of years vs. clinical setting.
