I have this item for just about a year, it's been great I have done a dozen models , I do plenty of painting with this spray booth , so far everything works perfect. I also watch rex videos which was a reason I looked into this model. Again no problems with this unit . This is maintenance for this machine but no big deal very easy to do. Again everything works just fine .

Hi! Just wanted to add my own 2 cents to this.
First of all, the video was very informative and I might reconsider buying this spray booth so thank you for that!
Secondly, the black filter under the waterfall is a carbon filter. Same kind of filter that goes above your average stove in the kitchen. It cleans and traps some "stuff", Google about it, it probably does more than you think.
Thirdly, you should never use a rattle can in booths like this, they're designed for airbrushing pretty much. A rattle can is far too aggressive and I bet those white chunks in the water is from the rattle can.

Thanks for your comments as they pertain to your situations. I didn't purchase this waterfall unit as I decided that the amount of work I'm spraying didn't really justify the waterfall expense or extra care in setting it up and maintaining the water bath. I did get the standard filter unit, 21" width and will replace the filter with a carbon type filter.

Seems overly critical and nit picky. Somewhere between this and Rex’s video lies the truth.

The issue I've seen is that this booth is great If you're only using acrylics anything solvent based destroys the plastic of the booth

@@alvodisco Never had that problem.. I spray both - maybe 60/40 Acrylic to Lacquer but everything is in working order.

@philski24 I use acrylics lacquer, and enamels but for that reason I purchased a pace stainless steel large volume spray booth

@@alvodisco Ok? Just saying that my observations of constant use with my painting habits, don't show any degradation in materials of this particular booth. I actually took it apart over the weekend to give it a deep clean for the first time since owning it, and there was nothing that looked in poor working order. Its not this doom and gloom, piece of crap that people are trying to make it out to be.

@@philski24 I guess it would really only cause issues if you used the harsher solvents exclusively

Mine works great! I won't go back.
Why are you using rattle cans..? The carbon filter works great and uber easy to clean.

After returning this waterfall clunker, I bought a booth from Pace Enterprises www.pacepaintbooth.com. These booths are most excellent. I bought the mid sized unit and I absolutely love it. It has a very powerful fan that sucks up the overspray with ease. I may post a review video of the Pace booth. I have the 24 inch “Super Mini” model.

i really appreciate this video. i have seen the videos robert has done and have wondered just how these performed. recently he did a video on venting the booth into a bucket with a few inches of water as a magic fix all and when questioned about using for lacquers he told the commenters that it was safe and it has made me question a lot of his advice now as i know for certainty that his advice is poisoning people and pets . i don't think he means bad but suggesting to 83.000 people to vent solvents into their living space is a bit naïve and cavalier

You don't have to clean it all the time .i have a drain i added so when i need to drain it every other week and add water its fine the black filter Material i remove it every other week also .you are being a little bit to picky its a good spray booth i have 2 of the big ones and im making a bigger one in my garage. Good luck if you want to sell it let me know.

Good video... jusy a few comments. Ive watched the videos you mention and it was mention to use a carbon filter into a bucket or a large box with some sort of filter material inside. I believe the real purpose of this type of booth is to reduce smell and dust. The design i agree isnt the best. There is a better booth out there that does a better job because it sperates the dust and fumes. Unfortunately it more expensive and not available at this time.

The waterfall idea is a gimmick way to suck your money. If this worked, all the commercial spray booths that painted cars etc. would use this. And, they Do NOT!! In my past life I used to inspect commercial paint booths. This gimmick was Never used. Its BS, vent to the outside is the only way.

    • @8145dwerdna

This is wrong. Waterfall booths are most definitely a thing. For auto body they weren't really used (if ever). But for factory/production line yes. Though they're not designed like this. They work very well when designed properly.
Auto body typically use a downdraft or cross draft. The booth will also have a heated option for quicker cure times.
