Yo tenia uno de estos cuando era más joven, cuando tenía 20 años!hasta ahora lo extraño,siempre digo que mi sueño es ir a Estados Unidos a buscar uno y traerlo para mi país.Saludos desde Asunción 😊💪
You can see the shift points are slightly higher on the 85. You provide great info! Keep doing what your doing. I have a couple of years left before I can get one. I hope there are some left.
Shift points are all just a little bit different depending how the Bowden cable is set. Each car is totally unique however they all correctly shift somewhere in the low 4,000 to mid 4000 RPMs
That's cool. The black Benz comes to Holland 🇳🇱 congratulations for the new owner. Gefeliciteerd Eric 👍 Again compliments for John for the wonderful work on the black beauty 👍 Greetings Helmer
I enjoyed this! You’re in my old stomping ground and I grew up seeing w123s everywhere. There was a math teacher in high school that drove a signal red one. When I was a Freshman in the early 90s there was a girl that drove this exact color combo and year to school (was her parents car but she drove it). Black w123s are bad ass.
Now if you were doing this test in a 280E you could check whether the fuel sender was working since you would actually see the needle move in real time 😂
Enjoyed this series and will use it as reference when I take my 85 out of the garage. I have the same palamino but with a light gray exterior. I plan to change the color and now thinking about black 🖤 . It high lights the palamino. But , the temperature 🌡️ here gets pretty 🥵 hot in the summer .
In the service manual it says the play in the steering wheel should be about an inch left to right. Totally normal. There's actually an adjustment screw on top of the steering box and the adjustment is opposite of what you think. Counterclockwise actually tightens the box and clockwise loosens the box.
@@woodsandbarclay Thanks for saying that. And I must say it is great to have such a channel on RUclips as you work on and show W123s which the best car ever in my opinion. So thanks a lot for that as well and I wish you keep going. Let me please ask about another problem I have with my 1983 240d with manual transmission that some again claim that it is normal which I kind of struggle to believe. You had one same car too as I have seen in one of your videos. It is that when I pull off my foot from the gas pedal while driving the car shakes for like 2 seconds or more. If I push the throttle again it shakes for a few seconds. In low rpm it is more obvious than in high rpm. I have heard some saying the diesels with manual transmission are like this but what about yours? Do you experience such a thing and more importantly is it normal? The shakes is so obvious in my case and I can't think this car being new from the factory and having such a disturbing driving. I would really appreciate to hear your say on this.
@@MuttakiNL sounds like you're just getting a little vibration when you engage the clutch. don't put too much thought into it just drive the car and enjoy it.
@@woodsandbarclay In fact I get it when I don't use the clutch pedal at all; I am taking off my foot from the throttle while driving without pushing the clutch and there comes shaking. It is a bit unenjoyable unfortunately because there is no way what I am experiencing is a little vibration. I would say it is almost a huge vibration. I have tried a 200d once which didn't have any issue in this regard; but I don't know if it was because it is a 200d. That's why I wanted ask you about your 240d.

Awesome I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos!
El mejor auto del mundo w123!💪😍
Well done, my friend.
Caution is warranted, sergeant Evans isn't sleeping, ticket for overspending is there, lol.
Definitely didn't overspend on this car! This is an extremely nice low mileage and very rare black color 300D. It's also a 1985 ;)
this is how these cars should be driven!
Hahaha I'm a race car driver in my spare time ;)
Pretty. You should paint those needles orange. They would make the instrument cluster pop and add a nice touch.
That's a good idea Jay

I'm glad you're enjoying the videos! Yeah black is now my official new favorite color for these cars.
Now if you were doing this test in a 280E you could check whether the fuel sender was working since you would actually see the needle move in real time 😂
I actually removed the fuel sender from this car and cleaned it to make sure it's working 100%. It actually wasn't even dirty.

One thing to add about the performance. You can have a good engine, but the transmission could be not adjusted well and rob performance as well.
That's an excellent point!
👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
Seems like a little bit gap in the steering box. Mine has too. And some say it is normal in a w123, is that true?

@@MuttakiNL check your transmission mount, your flex discs and your drive shaft center support bearing. Something's loose and vibrating a little bit.
is the turbo original from factoy?
Yes absolutely it's the KKK turbo they only did that one in 85 instead of the Garrett
An unfortunate initialism, KKK.
That black paint looks amazing I can't believe that is single stage original paint! Gives me some hope that possibly I can polish mine up also.
Oh yeah these single stage paint cars will polish up beautifully!
