This is my #2 solo game (two-handed) after Mage Knight. It's so fun!! And yeah, the stats thing is a bit of a bummer, but you always need some skills and it increases the replayability of trying out different builds. But I do play on easy mode just to save me a stat bump or two 😄
I agree with the snowball effect, but it doesn't happen that often. I love this game and can't recommend Gasket enough! He is such a fun character to play.
I'm loving what you add to the channel, much more of the games I'm interested in and also a bit of retroyfeel by revisiting older games in a newer style. Plus with the benefit that it will have been played more and errata is known.
Amazing game! I do agree with the con that the game lacks a mechanism that would allow players to “fail forward”. I wish there were a way to implement one or at least mitigate the difficulty of future encounters if the team is struggling. Otherwise, the game has a lot of depth.
Regarding putting a lot of training points into stats, It is pretty clear to me Chip Theory intended it to be this way and I believe they even warn you not to overdo skill dice. I personally try to end up with about 4 skill dice, but some characters do need more. I think this is good because it plays into exploring different builds. If you had most of the skill dice, you wouldn’t really have different builds. Our group of 4 played a lot and we always made it to the boss fight and won well over half the time. The difficulty suited us fine because we like a challenge in a coop game. TMB is still one of my favorite games.
cool final thoughts for a more heavier game. The snowball its a bummer. But on normal mode you have a good window to loss 1 or 2 encounters and still manage to Win.
The game's fun to me is experiencing tactical scenarios with a fun boss fight at the end. My house rule is that, win or lose, you get the rewards. I still find it challenging haha.
It's a very good game but the egregious price is a no go for me. To get the most out of this you're going to want Undetow and the 2 card expansions which will run you north of $350.00
A great overview and happy to see you on the channel! Maybe you need some more XP with the game, but some key points to mention: If you keep gearlocks health the same - say boomer and picket - players get to decide who baddies target. Staying at 6-8 quite easy. - you get TONS of training points in this game. It’s really zero to hero. You kind of glossed over that. - just going stats will hard fail you once you run into baddies with skills like Break, Hardy, thick skin, flight, composite etc. you need utility skills or damage skills to not get wrecked. These can show up on 1PT baddies as well.
I've played all of the characters in the base game, but none from the expansions. I love the variety, so I'm sure they did a great job with all the extra characters as well.
Hi there, Good video but I got a question. You are not the only one who is doing video regarding this game at this time. Is there a reason why now? This game was not available for a long time already? Just wondering :) Take care
no particular event. it's been a game that i've been thinking about covering for a long time, but i just didn't have the stamina to take it on. recently i started having shea cover games, and this was one of the first ones i thought of for him to do, and it just took us quite awhile to get a copy! :)

If only im in US or UK. I would have ordered gasket in a heart beat. I really want to try that one.

hehe, i'm going to go out on a limb and assume you mean what shea adds to the channel! :)
@@rahdo could be!
(plus I corrected typo!)
One of my favourite games ever.
Incredible fun and with crazy replayability.

Yeah the difficulty can really snowball if you fail at the wrong time, but if you can stay afloat, it's great!

Gameplay wise, it’s one of my favorite games. But the story and lack of immersion made me sell it eventually.
Good review; I've heard about the height of the learning curve and difficulty with the escalation, but still looks like fun.

Nice. I actually quite like this. Have you tried the other characters? They stay very very unique

@@RTFM yeah I picked up the 2 player set and I love it. This reminded me I need to get the base game characters
