true, but in some situations, they kind of really have to handcuff first and then check the ID and 5 minutes later you're free to go. I'm not saying that all of these clips were like that, but sometimes they're looking for very dangerous people and they can't take any risks.
That Patrick Mumford case made me physically angry, how tf are they not fired for tasering a guy after 38 seconds and also didnt give him one chance to pull out his ID
I feel like whatever they do to an innocent person that person should have the right to do to them like the first video those deserve to be roughed up and tazed
Simple: Put the police officer in front of a jury, have them decide whether or not to proceed to a real trial, and what charges should be in that trial.
It's actually HEEIST, which is his fitwear brand. But at first glance I can totally see how it could get confused; I thought it said heist at first too.
"All you had to do was give me ID!"... well I am glad we have footage, because they never asked for ID. That is wild to me. Of course I am going to resist when you are UNLAWFULLY arresting me, and using a taser on me. Also, absolutely horrible that he was about to lose his LIFE all because of their mistake. Getting kicked out of school, and losing his job, just because they didn't ask for ID, and escalated the situation.
you're a little kid who watches little kid baby videos... don't come in here with your nonsense of "I'm going to resist" when you just learned how to dress yourself 🤦♂
And considering he was in his yard and they failed to properly identify who they’re suspect was, failed to ask for ID, homeowners should be able to pop them. That’s trespassing and gang mentality. They were every bit of a threat
Cop in the 3rd clip is how all cops should handle these situations. He was cautious but also polite and calm, he did not jump to conclusions or automatically assume the guy he was talking to was the person he was looking for.
The cop in the third clip polished a turd and gave him lip service to excuse his behavior, that's why he blamed his sergeant for instructing him to detain the man. Don't be fooled by politically correct vernacular and a carefully choreographed activity designed to look harmless. Just because someone isn't slamming you to the ground screaming "Get on the ground Ni**er" doesn't mean that it's not a racially motivated act, and the same goes in reverse. Political correctness just hides the truth from plain sight. "Sir, please stop where you are, you are being detained for an ongoing police investigation. You match the description of a suspect, we need to confirm your identity and that you are not the individual we're looking for." It's that simple. The whole interaction about how they don't think it's him, but circumstances are whatever... That just makes the cops look unprofessional and shady af! Just be straight to the point, professional, and respectful. Patronizing people isn't respectful.
@@broobit7540Hopefully he’s NOT seeing how Patrick was NEVER even asked for an ID. Those POS cops were on a power trip and didn’t even follow proper protocol with the first being them properly identifying a person of interest.

Wow. So you think cops are delivering pizzas or something! What a display of ignorance you comment is! They are cops. They carry guns & bullet proof vests for a reason. Cooperate with them & they will cooperate with you!

He escalated the situation by being uncooperative and trying to get in the car and drive away. The police were wrong but i dont think they were being malicious - they had limited information and were trying to get more information from the guy. If both parties were willing to work together they would have quickly found out he wasn't the guy they were looking for. Police and criminals are people all the same, nobody is perfect. The general mistrust of both police AND felons does not lend to productive interactions between the two. This makes my blood boil. I was falsely arrested and charged for controlled substance once. Internal affairs is a damn joke, how about external affairs??? Situations like these will make you look at things from a different perspective
“We investigated ourselves and found we did nothing wrong end of story” like what a fucking wild way to look into misconduct of any kind. That’s like me murdering someone and then I get to look into myself as a suspect and say ‘I investigated myself and found that I did not kill anyone’ and that gets accepted as fact just because I said so, even though I’m covered in blood, wearing a tshirt that says ‘I’m a murderer,’ and I have a body in my trunk. It’s the most bizarre, nonsensical thing ever. Internal investigations are useless.
Thats not why she said that, apparently a guy driving the same looking car drove away from them during a stop or something like that. So she thought it was him

When they arrest the wrong person, and or do an unlawful arrest, for most of those victims it’s most likely never to trust an officer again, period…. Way to go!
I've been a cop for almost 30 years. When I was the supervisor of detectives I had a patrol officer come to me nearly in tears, because she was ordered to arrest someone by a LT, who was relying on a drunk victim's "positive ID" of a guy who just happened to be walking by where the crime happened in a gas station parking lot. She implored me to look into it, and I did, and I was able to exonerate the guy and get the charges dropped. I worked just as hard to prove his innocence as I would have to prove his guilt, if he had been actually guilty. Justice is finding the truth, no matter which way it goes.
Really impressive video! It's not often we get to see situations like this portrayed so clearly, but it really serves as an important lesson about how a mistake in law enforcement can affect an innocent person's life. Despite the tense moments, the way the video presents the scenario helps viewers realize that sometimes the system needs to check itself.
@@pierrettelaf9728maybe some suspects or smt has identical twins but ill doubt that’ll be a coincidence. They should at least look at their ids cause some people look the same. Honestly the cops should get fired and arrested for assault and false accusations. My opinion 🤷♀️
(Idk their last names, so I'm gonna use their first names.) If you're talking about the cops in the video, a few of them are actually not corrupt cops. One of the cops handled the situation very well, the one with the burglary thingy. The sedan the friends were in for the attempted robbery part, the cop was somewhat right somewhat wrong. Cops only get a little information before they are dispatched. It looks like both of Mr.Aaron's friends were white, and it DID say that there was a black and white suspect, so the cop did have a legitimate excuse of not stopping Mr.Aaron's buddies. But the rest of them did NOT have an legitimate excuse to why the did their actions, so they should be sued.

Cops only get a little information before they are dispatched. It looks like both of Mr.Aaron's friends were white, and it DID say that there was a black and white suspect, so the cop did have a legitimate excuse of not stopping Mr.Aaron's buddies. What a fucking dumb thing to say. The only reason why these ignorant tyrant types get in trouble is because they are guilty of committing an unrelated crime and act out unaccordingly out of shame.

We all could. I had cops trying their hardest to arrest me, all because my friend I gave a ride to earlier smelled like weed. Apparently, smelling like weed isn't even reasonable suspicion to be searched. They were going around trying to make up reasons to stop people. After harassing me and finding nothing, they still acted like I was a criminal. 😂 they literally should not want to have to arrest you or shoot you, but some seem to want to do just that.
Is that really true though? There care cases where that does happen (including to white people but those are on youtube footage, just not spread by media), but is it not pretty rare if the person does not resist or appear to be drawing a gun?
When measured per police interaction vs race (prob the most accurate way i can think of), the stats don't back up the popular attitude as far as i know (source: social researcher Heather Macdonald, MAYBE Coleman Hughes idk he may know too it is partly his field and he is not an ideologue......???).

Maybe a bit more common if your black & male, simply bc black people as a group, & all male as a group people both have higher crime rates and thus higher numbers of police interactions. Never thought I'd say this, but the FLORIDA cops look like they handled things pretty darn well. They were polite. They explained what they were doing and why they were doing it. They talked to the man like he was a person. They apologized at length for the inconvenience. They didn't take offense that he was nervous or that he was recording them as any sort of challenge. He was understandably nervous but they did everything they could within the bounds of their station to assure him that as long as he wasn't the suspect they were looking for he would be fine and when they let him go they debriefed him and explained that he was stopped because of how little information they were given to him.
If more police were like this all the time we wouldn't have ACAB.

As a high school student taking law classes to major in law, the first man had every right to ask to see the warrant, especially in case of a mistake like those officers made with him. As you stated as well, there are many different ways the police could have approached it especially because they decided to detain him because the didn’t “believe” the man instead of asking for an id. We even have officers come into the classes to answer questions and most cops will show the warrant and in that situation don’t have the right to arrest.
