      I will be teaching Contact Staff drills at a juggling convention near London on the 29th April. it's called the convention of distracted artist.

      On the long shot that you live anywhere near London.
      It'd be a hall all day for training and a fire show in the evening. believe it's £8

      Thanks so much. This was a while back. Now I make and use carbon fibre training staffs, which give you so much more control just from the way they play. Highly recommend getting a carbon fibre training staff 😉.

    love the energy man, i wish you had of been in some of the tournaments i was in here in australia our clothing styles are similar but different our flow styles are similar but different it would've been link vs shadow link, we could've competed against each other in the single events and together in the synchro events it would've been insane

      Hey. That's so cool that you're getting into contact staff. It's so much fun. I love it. Even after 8/9 years of playing, i'm finidng new moves and sequences still. There is actually a lot of cross over from hoop to contact staff, in terms on body roll pathways, I can pick up a hoop and jam out with it by applying contact staff theory to it. lol.
      As you already hoop, I'd imagine learning staff will be a lot faster than it was for your 1st prop.

      @@britishogo How do you you learn new techniques? I’m new to contact flow staff and I’m having trouble finding a consistent online teacher/tutorial.

    • @britishogo
      @britishogo  3 года назад

      @@Soccerchick077 I'm at a point now where I have enough control to be creative with new pathways. I have developed the foundation of control to be able to do this.
      I would advise you to drill all basic moves over and over. Do them slowly, really feel them, treat each move like a balance, and you're trying to constantly balance the staff.
      A strong foundation is everything. Then learning transitional moves will come naturally.
      Drill pendulums, where you use gravity and balance to go from horizontal, 180, to horizontal.
      Drill propellors. They are excellent transition moves.
      Drill fishtails.
      And do Steve as slow as you possible can. And speed up with shoulder pinches.

    • @britishogo
      @britishogo  3 года назад

      @@Soccerchick077 I will be making contact staff tutorials. And making a patreon, curated for understanding fundamentals, and how to evolve them into technical sequences.
      This is a long term project.
      If you're interested in something more immediate, I can offer you 1 2 1 coaching, in person (London based) or on zoom. And curate a training regime for you.

    I have the same staff. Love the grip! Was wondering if you like the bit more weight on the ends with the larger wicks? I found mine a little light...and a much different feel than my other fire-staff, but I am getting more used to it now. Looking great by the way!!

    • @britishogo
      @britishogo  8 лет назад

      Yeah I love the tube EPDM grip on the gora. Best in the world IMO. Shame it wares out quickly though.
      I have 120mm x 80cm x 3m wick. If anything it's to heavy. I have always said gora staffs are great but with bigger wicks. It's such a shame his baseline model is lacking in weight by only 15cm on each side.
      I've also down sized since making this video. I now use 130cm 3/4 thick alloy the same garde as the gora (7075t6) with 120mm x 70cm wick.

    I know I shouldn’t feel discouraged but it’s hard to look at this and try to be as good. I’ve been practicing for quite a few years, and I know most of the moves but I just wish I could flow like this. It’s hard to lead moves into each other

    • @britishogo

      Hey. I really like to fuse spinning style and contact styles together to really maximize flow. When in spinning mode Footwork is really important to bring that essence of seamless movement. Getting really used to spinning round helps too for contact mode.
      I have developed a confident mix of fundamental spinning framework, body tracing, footwork and contact rolls, all rolled into one which allows me to flow so continuous, switching between modes to draw out combos. This also really helps with transmissions.
      I have done contact staff for around 8 years. And poi for nearly 10, and much of what I learned from poi transferred over to Ctaff.
      Mlst of all have fun with it. I love to dance and express body flow, this really helped me open up style and movement when spinning.
      If you're ever in London, let's hang. I love spin jamming with people.
      Love and light.

      @@adznz11 Nice, I don't have any specific dance training. But i like to move a lot. I really love spinning contact fusion, check out my recent video.
      I am trying to incorporate more movement style into my spinning these days, but it's more in training, with mirrors. I struggle to bring strong body movements and shapes to my flow, outside of training, but it's coming slowly.
