This is literally in my top five episodes because I love everything about it. I love Scully having a chance to be bad and rebellious and stand up for herself. For some reason Chris Carter won’t let scully have anything like he even makes her personality seem boring when she’s really every complex. Like we know everything about Mulder. We want to know more about Scully
I think the entire episode is basically summed up by Scullys monologue about how her life goes in a circle and basically the symbolism of her tattoo. The episode opens with Mulder talking to Scully while she isn't really listening. Then the silence is interrupted on Scullys part by the subject of her desk and how she doesn't have one. Mulder jokes about it (cause that's what he does) and eventually tried to force her onto some dumb case that isn't even a case because he's forced to leave. In the process of this, Scully argues with him and he basically insists that this is his life's work. To which she replies "And it has become mine". The parallels from the beginning and the end are supposed to signify the never ending cycle Scully wishes she could break herself out of when it comes to relationships, her life and generally authoritative figures. The ending again opens with Mulder again, making jokes (Because AGAIN, that is what Mulder does). Then he goes on rambling about something while Scully is obviously either lost in thought or just not paying much attention. But this time, Mulder is the one to break the silence with the subject of Scullys desk. She then replies with "Not everything is about you Mulder. This is my life." To which he replied "Yes but..." It's a subtle way of looping back yet again to the previous conversation they had in that office before she left. Just how Scully said Mulders life had become hers, he was going to say her life had become his. I just love how the entire script just centers around the idea of an endless circle, just like Scully talked about.
Your analyses are fantastic and so important, because the X-Files date back to a time when shows were still very male-centered and while Scully is always read as a strong female character, she is also always framed in relation to Mulder. This episode kind of put a finger into that wound and I think that's why it's considered an unpopular or underrated one.
Season Four is just beautiful, dark momentum and I LOVE that this episode breaks up Leonard Betts and Memento Mori -- it becomes this dreamlike interlude and that wonderful last scene then flows right into Scully's opening monologue in MM. If it were ever going to happen, it would been then -- but now she has to tell him she's dying. It's SO good. I really could never figure out the controversy that surrounded this episode. I'm glad you love it too!
I can't really decide, but I think that season 4 is my favourite season. Great acting from both, sweet moments between M&S.... Then I love the two episodes "Tunguska".
I realize that I'm incredibly late to this party but I can't tell you how thrilled I am to have found these reviews! I to love this episode and your analysis is so detailed and we'll studied! I couldn't agree more that the placement of it between LB and MM is brilliant and really benefits the rest of the season. I hope you plan on continuing forward with the rest of the seasons! Again, thrilled to find these!
Scully doesn't need a desk! She owns that office and Mulder knows it. All their work can pile up on his desk and she just has to walk in ready to go. I get the whole equality thing and maybe in the early seasons it mattered but by the time they get to season 4 she is clearly the one who brings order from chaos she keeps him in check so he doesn't run off in any direction. She brings focus and balance. So, Mulder can keep his desk and she should be putting her feet on it. Love these two and the characters they bring to life.
In the end of s 4 e 12 (the previous ep) Scully has reason to believe she might have cancer. I think that gives a lot of context to this episode and why Scully is acting in this way. Ideas about mortality / running out of time etc
Apparently the order of episodes was changed after production wrapped as a way to justify Scullys actions but originally Leonard Betts came after - so that isn’t quite the justification some might hope for.
It was about time. Presuming that she hadn't dated any other men between this episode and S1, where we saw her being pursued by guys.... Well, by she'd almost certainly worn out the pocket rocket by time S4 rolled around
Oh my goodness. I just discovered your channel and these vlogs and I have SO MANY FEELINGS! I'm only just watching the X-Files for the first time and I have so many opinions but I'm like 25 years late to the discussion so I am SO glad for these videos. And I absolutely agree on literally every single thing you said. Also the tidbits from the script!? Holy fuck, thank you so much. I didn't know I needed this information but I did. I love your passion for Scully and her independence and existence as a woman outside of the X-Files and Mulder and I feel absolutely the same which is why this is one of my favorite episodes so far as well. I think I'm now going to go through all of your vids of past episodes because not only do I love your opinions but also your style of editing and really it's just giving me the discursive content I've been craving since I've started watching this show.
Happy birthday! I have mixed feelings about this episode. I love that this entire episode is all about Scully. I hate Ed, but I have to admit everything he did with Scully was so hot. Thank you for including the script. It really gave a new perspective to it. I think Mulder was just finding a way to open up something at the end when he said “all this because I didn’t get you a desk.” My interpretation is that he’s just really upset and wants to say to Scully that he’s hurt and jealous about what happened (and they should just be in a relationship and get married so no one can touch her girl), but he’s afraid that’s why he didn’t get to finished what he started.
Here’s the thing about Mulder’s line, “All this because… I didn’t get you a desk?” Most men base their reasoning on logic and grounded material, whereas women tend to lean more towards the emotional, inward realm of understanding. Mulder may be a believer and Scully the skeptic, but that doesn’t stop them from thinking and understanding things in their defaulted ways. As someone who’s been hellbent on solving the mysteries of the world since he was a kid, Mulder tries to figure Scully out; to make sense of her rebel ways and “solve” her logically, like an X-File, when she’s so much more than that. Aside from some chickadees in his past, Mulder doesn’t really have a grasp on women, something his work left him without once he started going in deep. As a woman myself, I love this episode to pieces for all the reasons mentioned as it explores this side of Scully; her emotions, needs and wants as a woman. She and Mulder have such layers to them and it’s why they’re my favorite couple of all time. Wish we could’ve gotten more psychological exploration of Scully like this, esp while Doggett and Monica were in the picture. The dynamics of that partnership had amazing potential for chemistry with Mulder away, leaving Scully to fill the void of his absence somehow in any way that she could. Alas, we didn’t really get any of that 😔 I plan on exploring this through my writing and hope to share it with you and other X-Philes someday 🙇♀️ Keep up the great work!
So would have liked to have watched Gillian's performance of this episode had she known it was airing after Leonard Betts, but oddly it still does work well showing Scully questioning huge components of her life. Such a great episode and so unlike anything on TV at the time.
Happy birthday Candice!!! You dont have to read this absolute novel of a comment but, I would just like to thank you for helping me through some tough times. I've struggled with pretty extreme anxiety since I was 10 and I was recently diagnosed with OCD. Your videos and your energy in these videos give me LIFE. So, I just wanna let you know that your videos mean alot to me. So thanks for being great!
Your analysis of the scene with Scully and Ed and #teambanging is on point. Telling that story of sexual needs/wants from the woman’s perspective is so needed in culture. Also, yes straight up fanfic lol. Can we just transfer that part of the script to”all things”? Kthanks :)
Scully used Ed. She just found out she has a rare difficult to treat cancer. She wanted to do something out of line for her. A meaningless tryst with a stranger. Even if he had been "normal" she wasn't going to let his shoes get cold. Scully needed Mulder not just as a partner but as a PARTNER someone to challenge her on every level. She is such a Betty Badass and we love her for it.
Agreed. I am a huge shipper for Mulder and Scully but I actually have no problem with her getting with Ed. She’s frustrated and has needs and Mulder hasn’t made his move yet.
This episode is in my top 5 of the entire series! I love it since it aired . The first and last scenes are my all time favorites! Having said that, I am really glad I found this reviews ( years later 😅) since I am rewatching the entire series ( I do that once a year). And It was amazing to see these details of the script !!! I am losing my mind like it is 1997 again! 😅❤
Also, seeing that line at the end of the script “if it was ever going to happen , it would be now!” 😮😮😮😮 I never saw that moment this way and my jaw dropped!
I can't watch this episode without getting different kinds of feelings. In fact it makes me angry. Mad at Mulder for not seeing more than his work, upset cause Scully's tantrum could have made her killed because one doesn't run to someone's bed just to prove something. But at the same time glad that she stood up for her feelings. My head isn't prepared for seeing Scully with another man, but Mulder.
I think it has more to do with her needed to feel alive. She knows she's about to be diagnosed with cancer because of what LB told her. The question of life and will she survive it is front and center. Mulder is safe, she knows he'd take her in a heartbeat but she needs to get reckless out of her system, to live, to do something unlike her.
Love love your interpretation of this. I was in high school when this epi first aired so I saw it more through the frame of Mulder/Scully's relationship than anything else. Now that I am older and have experience working in an office, and following #metoo, your blog helped me reframe it as a Scully introspective piece. CC is totally man-centered and his episodes have always bothered me for that although I could never quite put my finger on that. Scully is Mulder's 2D mirror in the episodes he wrote episodes and here she is finally her own 3D person.
Just finished watching this episode and I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said! So refreshing to see this side of Scully, from her perspective. It’s wonderfully written and shot and acted too. One of the reasons why I love the X Files. It’s not just a procedural series but it goes deep in character development too. ❤️
10:13 (haha) she is rebelling with the same intent now - she's hoping to get caught. She wants Mulder to react. Just like she wanted her father's reaction when she was a kid.
I understand what you mean about Scully being "too perfect" but this is SO out of character for her. To me, it feels like they're writing controversy for the sake of controversy. Morgan and Wong had left the show for a while and when they came back I felt they were out of touch on where the characters stood at that time. After this is Memento Mori and this is never brought up again. I've also kind of taken from it that Scully was punished for straying away from Mulder because of the ending. He can definitely be selfish and self-centered but you know Scully is his life. Idk...not my favorite episode.
You seriously nailed it. This is one of my favorite episodes and back in the day when I used to frequent chat rooms, people would give her so much crap. And how this is not a good episode and so out of character... blah blah blah. For me this episode went a level deep into Scully and we get to see her be a woman. As I became an adult and have had my own experience with relationships, one night stands, and the confusing layers of emotions that arise by just existing in those moments.... I love this episode even more! So thanks! I feel like I have someone who totally gets it and I will rewatch this again. Now. Best!
Happy Birthday to you and thanks for our present-3 episodes in a row! I love Scully’s push back in this episode. While I find it hard to watch in scenes, it’s essential to her character. I always thought at the end that Mulder was trying to say “Yes, but it’s my heart.” Thank you for another great review:)
Thank you for this great review! This is also one of my favorites. My X Files friends are all guys; I love em but it is so great to get a deep, thoughtful take on this episode from a woman. And I learned a lot. Thanks again.
Candice-I just happened upon your channel last night and am subbing for sure after seeing this one. Every time I watch this episode, I always finish Mulder's sentence, "But it's..." in my head, in Mulder's voice with, "mine, too."! I have been looking for someone to watch with me from start to finish and discuss every episode after. I've seen then all I don't know how many hundreds of times- I'm old enough that I watched them on FOX when they were first on television. It was a revelation! It's so hard for me to pick my favourite episodes. I would probably have to choose from each season, or have a top 20 or 10 each from the mythos and 10 from monster of the week. If anyone wants to watch with me, let me know! Even newbies- I can help explain what you may not understand! I just loved the way you dissected this episode, Candice! It just happens to be one of my faves. Question- Are you as disappointed as I am that they never referred to Scully's tattoo again? Even when there were natural chances to! I don't know why that killed me so much. You? Love your channel!
First off, Happy Birthday. As far as this episode goes, I always took what happened at the end of the previous episode Leonard Betts where it was discovered in the last shot with Scully bleeding from her nose and what we would find out about it later as the reason for her change. She had every reason to be upset with what her life has been at this point and she wanted to break free. Hearing you describe what was in the script was an eye opener. It always makes me wonder what would have happened had Quentin Tarantino been allowed to direct this. I think the reason that scene you described was cut out was due to at the time Fox had a bit of a leash on the show for what happened with Home. Just speculation. Anyways, this one is a hidden gem for me. It's very enjoyable and great to see Scully on her own.
I just got into x files again. Watched it when it originally aired in the 90s but I was in middle school and I just missed a LOT. It’s like I’m watching it for the first time and I had no idea how truly good this show is. All that to say I love your analysis and wouldn’t hate it if you did more 😬.
Ooooh Giiiirl!!! Im like the latest at the party but whaaat a party!!! Im just 5 minutes in but let me tell you... you’ve just validated the ensemble of my formative years, my X-Files obsessed teenage years, shaped by my admiration for Scully, moments in my life where I thought i was a bit mental to find so much depth in a tv show. I hesitated between « I want to believe » and « Faith » when i was deciding what to engrave inside my highschool graduation ring. This serie, particularly Scully’s journey has left an imprint in me like very little else. It helped me understand so much about life. It brought me to dark spaces as much as it gave me hope. And « Never Again » is definitely one of my favorites if not my favorite... heck i got a Ouroboros tattoo many years after the end of the X-Files!! Ok I’ll resume watching your review but so far you’ve got me hooked and subscribed!! :D Why didn’t I find you during quarantine??😩 Now if I fail my semester it’s your fault 😉
A super happy birthday to you, Candice!!! 🌻🌻🌻Auguri, from Italy! This is a must episode to me, and I HAD NEVER SEEN THE SCRIPT BEFORE!!! 😱 I need to rewatch it like... now?
Non pensavo di trovare un'altra italiana in questi video! Io ho finito di vedere XFiles circa 1 mese fa... Mi manca troppo, infatti lo sto già riguardando ahahaha
I recently finished watching the show for the first time and it's all I can think about right now so I'm loving your video discussions about it! I loved this episode too for the same reasons as you. I love any episode where we get to know more about Scully's personal life.
At the Emmy awards ceremony (I think, I don't remember very well), Gillian, before going on stage, kisses David before her boyfriend. After a short time Gillian and her boyfriend break up. I think that the two things are connected lol.
@@elisagiambartino3483 I don´t know whether this is a correct information, but I read, GA and her partner seperated shortly before the Golden Globe and because of this, DD accompanied her to the ceremony :) - i think, they made the best out of the situation
Happy belated! Always had mixed feelings on this episode, but that last shot always made me so sad until now. Thank you for including the script-- big eye opener!
even after this episode, scully never had a desk. she never even had her name signed on the door. CC very much set it up so that it was “mulder’s space” and scully should almost just be grateful to have a chance to occupy part of it. one moment that always stayed with me was when doggett joined the x-files in season 8, (after scully initial possessiveness over the office and making it known to doggett that his time there was just temporary until mulder was found). she turns to doggett at the end of the episode and tells him how she never was given a desk of her own in all the years she worked the x-files, but she would make sure he had a space to call his own. even 4 seasons later it’s clear that she still sees the value in being able to officially occupy a space, and it still affects her at how she was never given that :/
Both Scully hore and DOGet asshole came to Mulder's office his job not away around. Mulder should have kicked them from his office. He was best working alone.
Happy Birthday!!! Wonderful review- Scully/GA getting the acknowledgement they deserve for this episode! James Wong and Glen Morgan were great writers when it came to honing in on Scully’s psyche, and whether it was CC or the network who eventually cut out some critical pieces, Morgan and Wong’s introspective work (especially paired GA’s brilliant portrayal and input) really laid down the foundation for Scully’s legacy as a empowered female character.
Love this review and have loved this episode since it aired! I am an angst lover though, so of course I love a complex Scully centered episode. What always throws me is this though...after she tells Ed that they are going to the hospital to get tested and she bends down to pick up her fallen badge on her way to the bedroom to get dressed, they show a close up of her feet and she is wearing nylons! So if they had sex, as you assume since she's wearing his shirt, why the hell would she put her nylons back on to go to bed? Right?! Like - hell no, I'm not putting those things back on! So that is where I always struggle on the 'did they or didn't they' drama. But, yes- that last scene is hands down one of my top 5 favorite M&S moments. The air is soooo heavy and it is an almost Mulder confession that he thinks they belong together. He just doesn't know how to tell her how he feels (like she cheated on him)... and then she tells him she has cancer and he knows it's not the right time again.... and then there is alllllll the touching, hand and cheek kisses in "Redux II". I always think of "Never Again" - "Redux II" as the time period when Mulder realizes that he does, indeed, LOVE her, but it really takes this episode for that to sink in coupled with the thought of losing her to cancer.
I am so glad I found your channel. You are so fucking cool! You're a bit younger than me (I'm 34), but I grew up watching X-Files and was immediately hooked. 25+ years later, the love has not died. It is refreshing to see another female who has no shame in showing her passion for this amazing show. Keep it up!
My personal favorites (and I'm only about a quarter of the way through season 5): Redux II Detour Jose Chung's "From Outer Space" War of the Coprophages Dod Kalm Darkness Falls Ice
@@elisagiambartino3483 Love that episode! When i wrote that comment, I was only through season 5, hadn’t seen that one yet. I’m on season 9 now. Those are still some of my favorite episodes, but i have a few more now.
@@elisagiambartino3483 I miss Mulder a lot! But i actually love Doggett and Reyes, so i still love the show overall. I’m looking forward to Mulder’s return, though.
@@carlyphilpott269 This was exactly my problem with season 9. I don't know, even if I truly liked Reyes and Dogget, I just missed too much Mulder for focus on them. And I felt like if the show wasn't what it used to be without Mulder.
Hmmm I have mixed feelings on this episode. I’m not a huge fan of it. But I like where it’s placed. To me in season 4, it’s the second in a unique trilogy. It takes place after Leonard Betts where Scully learns of a possible diagnosis of cancer. Never again takes place after that and Scully is having a crisis in spite of this and other issues are coming to light like the desk. Next Memento Mori takes place right after and Scully is officially diagnosed with cancer bringing things full circle. :) So while I’m not a huge fan of the concept of this episode I like its placement
Happy Birthday! About 15 years ago a lovely person on idealists Haven called Tud was putting together dvds of directors cuts of some of the shows. I have an extended cut of this episode if you're interested and if it's not available anywhere else. There's a few different director's cuts of various eps. Holler I'd be happy to send you the dvd.
Squeeze, Tooms, the Human Fluke Worm, and a few others scared the shit out of me as a child. Closure made me cry like bitch. The one where Mulder meets the Lone Gunmen and the one with vampire Luke Wilson were pretty funny. For all those who say sci-fi nerds don't like strong female characters: Dana Scully, Ellen Ripley, Kara Thrace, Sarah Connor.
Haaaaappy birthdaaaaay! Wishing you all the best! I agree so much btw about unrealistic expectations about getting a tattoo. LOL! I got a tiny one last year on the side of my wrist and I had the poor table in a death grip start to finish. Had to tell the tattoo artist to stop a couple of times. Always looking forward to your videos. Your reviews are always on point! :D
Firstly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! ❤️❤️❤️ Secondly, Annie’s my girl! Love her! Yes!! #TeamScullysDesk! I like that. I love Scully in this episode. I’ve always loved that she finally opens her mouth in this episode. I agree with what you said about Mulder’s reaction (spending time apart). It was a good move. I’m always surprised she hasn’t killed him by this point lol. #TeamBanging Scully deserves to get laid. I wouldn’t be surprised if the network didn’t have a say in taking it out because of the time and what was “appropriate” for network TV then. I think people often forget - or don’t know - that. I agree with Mulder not finishing the line. My interpretation was always something the lines of it being theirs but definitely in a possessive sense. He loves her and was hurt. I don’t think he knew how to articulate that so he just didn’t. But, that’s just my opinion.
How’d you get the script to the episode? I know my dad said tower records used to sell certain episode scripts to the X-Files I got like three. FIRE DARKNESS FALLS THE LIST I used to have IRRESISTIBLE but think I gave that away since it was a very nasty secular episode. But the script was a bit different. Like the script just ends with Scully breaking down after Mulder rescues her....while the episode Mulder does a little voice over closure...showing Donnie Pfaster over the years growing up....looking way more sinister. He closes with “it could happen to you.”
Hey Candice, hope you had a great time making NA. Happy belated birthday. Also I need to ask you about the script, aside from Twitter, where i can find it and I do not remember when you said it but in one of your videos you mention to this great fanfic but I dont remember which one is it. Pls, let me know haha... See you and take care
We know Sculls is a "librarian" in disguise. I didn't care for the episode because he's a stranger. I get it she knows the cancer diagnosis is coming and she needs to know she's an attractive woman who is desired BUT, a stranger.....ugh Scully, several guys at the Bureau would love to be your "danger" stranger. I think she also rebelled 'cause Mulder was being a *ick. She wanted his comfort but got pissed because he lorded over her. Thankfully they both came to their damn senses. AS always great video and analysis Candace.
The only thing I dislike about this episode is the music over the Scully / Ed fight scene. It never fails to make me laugh as it’s so corny and out of place.
Happy birthday 🎂🎁🎉! I love this episode too! They finally explore Scully's wants and struggles. It was really cool to see what was written down the script 😁 Great video! ❤️
I liked this episode before, but you have completely convinced me into loving it. You are spot on in these observations and details. This is your best video yet. I'm inspired.
I think Mulder just kinda acted like a real dick to Scully this episode cause she isn't usually the type of person to show these sides of herself or to question Mulders tasks or motivations. The episode RIGHT before this one, Scully had that fight with the monster that eats cancer, and it tried eating something inside of her, so she had a good indication that something was wrong. But it wasn't until the episode after this one that she gets diagnosed and gets treatment. So Scully is kind of in this weird place where she knows something life threatening is wrong with her, but she hasn't gotten the confirmation yet. She is going through so many new emotions and showing such new sides of herself because she's questioning her existence. She's questioning her own life and how each relationship in her life has impacted it. Often times we as people don't see things without having something significant to push us to that, and Scully was the same. So I don't exactly blame Mulder for being confused on Scullys new attitude towards everything going on, because he doesn't know, but I do blame him for not being more understanding. And yeah, we're people and we make mistakes, but I feel like if I felt a big shift in my best friends deminor, I would ask them what's going on. I wouldn't assume they were upset with me or the life we were leading together.
But Mulder graduated top of his class from college as a fucking psychology major so he should have had SOME sorta insight into her character. Or at least the fact that she was obviously going through some mental turmoil. He has such deep insights into the minds of murderers but never into his own partner.
I didn't quite understand why Mulder was bringing flowers to Scully in the next episode. That doesn't sound like him. Perhaps this is due to this conflict (situation). I can't say NEVER AGAIN is in my TOP episodes. At the same time Scully centric episodes - my favorite. So here clearly shows the selfishness of Mulder. It repels me. He is so confident in their union that he forgets to ask for help or ask her opinion. It looks like an order from the warden. Not an equal work partner. It upsets and angers me. Because I love them so much together. Thank you very much for the video. This is a different view of the same footage. Interesting and for further reflection. Not for publicity, my channel is an old video for this series. And its parallel with the series "3" .
I have mixed feelings about what they show. Partly annoyed we know Mulder slept with the vampire girl in an earlier season but we don't get the same for Scully. But I am partly happy I didn't have to see her hookup with a guy. My shippy heart hurt when Mulder did it and it feels the same this time so at least I didn't have to see it yelling at the screen. But she so got some and look at that man. I would have too. And Mulder at the end being a hurt jerk. He really takes her for granted at times. But this entire episode is her acting out and secretly wanting to be caught.
Yea, I'm just wondering how he slept with that terrible actress (vampire) in his clothes. He woke up completely dressed and in a chair......I look at it like "Never Again" the two of them never completed the act they were just waiting for the other to figure it out. Geez, Scully come back nd Mulder find a way to get her a damn desk (even though we know it was never about the desk)
At first I didn't liked the episode. It wasn't like a "normal" x file. And the whole thing with Ed I was like "what are you doing Scully?! Stop it, you have Mulder!" But after I have watched your video where you gave some reason about why you liked it I started to like it too. It is not my favourite episode but I like it now
Ahhhh, yes!! 😍 This episode is sooo great, also one of my very favorites, even from the very day it originally aired. It added so much depth and humanity to Scully and made me love her even more!
I always assumed Mulder's unfinished sentence at the end was meant to be, "But it's become mine," the same line Scully gave him at the beginning.
Oh my this is great! Full circle again! Makes so much sense, thanks for sharing.
You're right, I never thought about that!
I sensed this too but he should be given credit for not voicing this. He knew he had no right.
I know this comment is 5 years old, but that was the intention and can be found in the original script.
@@JBSpookyReview How unexpected to see you here! And with an info I had no clue about!
Yes, Scully is an accessory for Mulder, and as the seasons go on CC and the writers mangle her story and annihilate her agency. Still mad about it.
We don't know anything about Mulder att all tired of Mulder hates
Didn't know until I watched this that Gillian had a hand in some of the details of the episode! That makes it even better 😊
I think she was dating rodney rowland at the time so.....
Lo
I can't really decide, but I think that season 4 is my favourite season. Great acting from both, sweet moments between M&S.... Then I love the two episodes "Tunguska".
Horrible 🤢 Scully files is overrated show
I realize that I'm incredibly late to this party but I can't tell you how thrilled I am to have found these reviews! I to love this episode and your analysis is so detailed and we'll studied! I couldn't agree more that the placement of it between LB and MM is brilliant and really benefits the rest of the season. I hope you plan on continuing forward with the rest of the seasons! Again, thrilled to find these!
I'm a bit late to this, but I agree about this episode. I would have to have the rest of Mulder"s last line.
Wow ! Scully was f**ing him in real life ! That explains so much ... the looks ... the lust ... the chemistry! It wasn’t acting!
It was about time. Presuming that she hadn't dated any other men between this episode and S1, where we saw her being pursued by guys.... Well, by she'd almost certainly worn out the pocket rocket by time S4 rolled around
She is gay
@@MechaJutaroScully is lesbian and Anderson too 👋🤣
@@LucasKent-bf5ul I heard/read that she fooled around with her roommate decades ago. That's not quite lesbianism
Binging through Season 4 again and I'm back here. I'm so grateful for this episode and this recap 👏🏼
The music of the tattoo … it’s everything
Yeah, there was so much hurt in Mulder’s eyes in the last scene. I’ve always found this episode difficult to watch.
Good take on it and I agree.
I agree with you. They should be married. Also for Scully, she is jealous of him a lot of times.... It would have been better for both of them.
Here’s the thing about Mulder’s line, “All this because… I didn’t get you a desk?”
Most men base their reasoning on logic and grounded material, whereas women tend to lean more towards the emotional, inward realm of understanding.
Alas, we didn’t really get any of that 😔
I plan on exploring this through my writing and hope to share it with you and other X-Philes someday 🙇♀️
Keep up the great work!
Lol another bisch Mulder hater just wow how many lesbian hores are there
To bad X files is Mulder show 🖕
So would have liked to have watched Gillian's performance of this episode had she known it was airing after Leonard Betts, but oddly it still does work well showing Scully questioning huge components of her life.
You are such a good speaker. I literally watch your reviews right after I watch an episode
"We were ROBBED"
omg 1000% A G R E E
P.s. Happy Birthday! 👽💗🎂
Also, seeing that line at the end of the script “if it was ever going to happen , it would be now!” 😮😮😮😮
I never saw that moment this way and my jaw dropped!
@@rogwarrior1018lol justifying a hore Mulder is nothing to her 👋
That script though 🔥 😍 Glad you somehow discovered it and shared it with us!
Hands down this is my fav ep ever!
Wooooow I had no idea Gillian dated the actor that played Edy! This is also one of my favorite episodes! Great review ❤️❤️❤️
Its cool to learn a lot of it was GA's ideas. The ouroboros pops back up briefly in her sci-fi books.
Lol 🤣 that's Mulder's office not Scully's or Agent Dog.
🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢
I love your XFiles reviews so so much and it would be so great if you did a video on Triangle! I absolutely live for that episode.
I am so glad I found your channel. You are so fucking cool! You're a bit younger than me (I'm 34), but I grew up watching X-Files and was immediately hooked. 25+ years later, the love has not died. It is refreshing to see another female who has no shame in showing her passion for this amazing show. Keep it up!
My personal favorites (and I'm only about a quarter of the way through season 5):
Redux II
Detour
Jose Chung's "From Outer Space"
War of the Coprophages
Dod Kalm
Darkness Falls
Ice
I agree, but maybe I would add "Bad Blood", I think one of the most loved episodes :).
@@elisagiambartino3483 Love that episode! When i wrote that comment, I was only through season 5, hadn’t seen that one yet. I’m on season 9 now. Those are still some of my favorite episodes, but i have a few more now.
@@carlyphilpott269 yeah I know right? That episode is awesome! Are you enjoying season 9? Even without Mulder?
@@elisagiambartino3483 I miss Mulder a lot! But i actually love Doggett and Reyes, so i still love the show overall. I’m looking forward to Mulder’s return, though.
@@carlyphilpott269 This was exactly my problem with season 9. I don't know, even if I truly liked Reyes and Dogget, I just missed too much Mulder for focus on them. And I felt like if the show wasn't what it used to be without Mulder.
All I got from this video is that the episode was basically about feral Scully and I love it. Haha.
So while I’m not a huge fan of the concept of this episode I like its placement
amazing review! didn't know a lot of the facts you mentioned here. Thanks is like going back to 1997 again
I would pay you for a copy of that director's cut and would not pass it around! Help a fellow X-Phile out!
Happy Birthday lovely, this episode is a special gem in a box of gems that is the X-Files
YAS, I'm here for my girl Scully getting it :D
Love that actor Rod Rowland he was a villain in the season 5 premiere of Angel
Squeeze, Tooms, the Human Fluke Worm, and a few others scared the shit out of me as a child. Closure made me cry like bitch. The one where Mulder meets the Lone Gunmen and the one with vampire Luke Wilson were pretty funny.
For all those who say sci-fi nerds don't like strong female characters: Dana Scully, Ellen Ripley, Kara Thrace, Sarah Connor.
Love your take on this. And fully agree with it all.

A small surprise: Jodie Foster appeared in person as Ed Jerse's colleague, whose office he trashed.
Jodie Foster provided the voice of the tattoo; she teases him, calls Scully a 'Doll' and tells him to murder.
Yeah! Finally waking up early paid off! I hope you have a fantastic day and thanks for posting
Firstly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! ❤️❤️❤️
Secondly, Annie’s my girl! Love her!
I have been obsessed with the x-files since I was a kid and really sad I never knew about your blog until just now
Happy Birthday! You’ve just reminded me I have some scripts in my attic..can’t remember which ones now. Will have to dig them out.
Happy Birthday! Love this episode!
How’d you get the script to the episode?
I know my dad said tower records used to sell certain episode scripts to the X-Files
I got like three.
FIRE
DARKNESS FALLS
THE LIST
I used to have IRRESISTIBLE but think I gave that away since it was a very nasty secular episode.
But the script was a bit different.
Like the script just ends with Scully breaking down after Mulder rescues her....while the episode Mulder does a little voice over closure...showing Donnie Pfaster over the years growing up....looking way more sinister. He closes with “it could happen to you.”
This is one of my fav episodes😋
Scully coming back to the office in the end is basically my favourite seconds in the entire X-files. Also - team BANGING!! I love this vlog
Happy birthday!! 🎂🎈🎉 🥃

Pls, let me know haha... See you and take care
Happy birthday Candice! 💐🍾Realy Love your videos
Happy birthday Candice!!
Happy birthday Candice 😁🎉
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEAUTIFUL ANGEL❤️
such a good episode
I loved it so much
The only thing I dislike about this episode is the music over the Scully / Ed fight scene. It never fails to make me laugh as it’s so corny and out of place.
I love Never Again and this video is my life now. Amazing!!!
In that last shot of the office where they just sit there, you can see that there is more than ample space for 2 desks. Just saying
Happy Birthday ❤️ I hope you are having a fantastic time in London!
Yay! Happy Birthday 🥳 xxxxxx
Happy birthday!!
Happy Birthday!!!! I didn't like this episode and thought Ed was way too creepy. But props to GA getting a voice about Scully's character.
Happy Birthday!!! Great Review!!!
All Things is very similar to Never Again
Perfect, Candice!!!
I love this episode!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This episode is sooo great, also one of my very favorites, even from the very day it originally aired.
It added so much depth and humanity to Scully and made me love her even more!
