  • Today I am going to figure out how to sequence the Soma Pulsar-23 with the Elektron Digitakt sequencer through midi. It is fairly simple to set it up. Hope this helps a bit with some tips and tricks.

    thanks for the video. Did you figure about the clap ? I think something is wrong...

      No, not yet... I am looking into it further... and then will check with Soma...

      I found what the problem is! The clap-delay thing is only being triggered by a full velocity trigger... as well as through the internal sequencer, as well as via midi. So standard on the Digitakt the velocity is set to 100 instead of 127 which is full velocity. So put it on max velocity and the "Clap" knob works fine :)

      @@SupahDupah Cool! I'm happy that you diagnosed the problem. I was doing my best to squint at your video and try to find some patch point or indication on the panel. :) I already knew that getting a Pulsar 23 is essential to my survival. Now this cements the fact that I will be buying a Digitakt very soon. I was already seriously considering it since I really need a decent drum machine and sampler. These bits of gear plus a Porsche 911 GT2 and a 21 year old 1/4 Japanese, 1/4 black and half Swedish girlfriend is all I need to be truly happy. Enlightenment, here I come! Namaste.

      It is the way to go imho... although the internal sequencer is cool for just standalone jamming... the things becomes useful when you midi sequence it, for use in tracks and stuff

    Excellent video - was up and running quickly with these tips! Not being a midi expert, I was curious about the decision to use only one midi channel for the various drum tracks vs. separate channels for each. Thx!

    • @SupahDupah
      @SupahDupah  2 года назад +2

      Well not really a well thought off decision in a small setup like this, but I often work in my studio with lots of synths, and then a midi channel is very precious and 4 sounds occupying 4 channels is not needed in this case. Hope this helps!

Especially since I can sequence it with the Deluge or the digitakt (and even the Digitone, with which I can add the Digitone fx on the audio output of the Pulsar!). It's a dream of a synth. Hi, thanks for your video it helped me a lot to connect my new Pulsar to my Digitakt, can you please let me know about this issue i have, i have been writing Soma about it and ask for a replacement of my unit, the Digitakt when is sending Midi Notes to the Pulsar 23 on 4 channels when i put the volume down on on the 4 voices i hear those cliks noise coming from the incoming midi, they are quite loud i can hear those also when the volume of the voices is higher, so i tested CV and finally internal connections but i get same issue.. cliks and noise everywhere, do you find that problem? just want to know if i have a faulty unit, thanks a lot for your work, Fabrizio

    • @SupahDupah
      @SupahDupah  11 дней назад

      I don't have the Pulsar anymore, so I cannot test this... I think I mostly sequenced with midi on the Digitakt, so never ran into these issues... when I mute a channel, there is no midi being send... if controlled from the Digitakt

  • @kieran4512

    Can you do this same type of midi sequencing with Elektron’s Analog Rytm MkII, or the elusive Machinedrum? I want to add either to my setup to control Pulsar 23. Which, if either, would you recommend?
    Only reason I am not considering Digitakt is because I want on-board sound engines, just need to choose analog or digital.
    Thanks so much, the video is super super helpful!!

    • @SupahDupah

      Yesss the rytm has midi out, if the machinedrum has midi out it can also do the trick. What about the syntakt? Analog/digital machines… with all the dreams of someday they release a sample machine 🤓🤩

    Just received my pulsar 23 and tried sequencing with Digitone. Good to know about full velocity. The hi hats seem to be triggered as gate, can you kindly explain where to get the gate out so as to put it through the gate-trigger converter? Thanks a lot!

    • @SupahDupah
      @SupahDupah  2 года назад +1

      Well, you can't intercept the midi and make a trigger of it... But what you can do, is change the note/gate length in the digitone sequencer, to make it a really shot gate mimicking a trigger... Hope this helps!

    Excellent video, but I can't get mine to work. I can play Pulsar with the keys on my Digitakt, but once I'm using the Digitakt sequencer, the midi is not transmitted to the Pulsar at all. Nothing is muted. Any ideas? Thank you!

    • @stujay
      @stujay 11 месяцев назад

      When I hit Play on the DT sequencer, the midi light next to the volume knob on the Pulsar flashes red, not green, which I believe means it isn't receiving midi. Hm.
