    Here are some FAQ questions that I hope will help you more... Let me know!
    🌟1. What materials do I need to make a resin clock?
    You’ll need resin and hardener, a clock resin mold, clock mechanism and hands, pigments or dyes, mixing cups, craft sticks, gloves, a heat gun or torch, and protective gear like a mask for ventilation.
    🌟2. How do I mix resin and hardener properly?
    Follow the manufacturer’s instructions, usually a 1:1 or 2:1 ratio. Mix thoroughly for 3-5 minutes, scraping the sides and bottom of the cup to avoid unmixed resin, which can result in sticky spots.
    🌟3. How do I prevent bubbles in my resin?
    Mix slowly to avoid introducing excess air. Use a heat gun or torch to pop bubbles after pouring the resin. Ensure your workspace is dust-free and at room temperature for the best results.
    🌟4. What type of pigments or dyes can I use in resin?
    You can use mica powders, alcohol inks, resin dyes, or acrylic paints specifically labeled for resin use. Avoid water-based products as they can interfere with curing.
    🌟5. How do I center the clock mechanism?
    Using the resin mold, you will see a hole in the center of the mold. Once demolded, you can use this hole to insert the clock mechanism.
    🌟6. How long does it take for the resin to cure?
    Resin typically takes 24-48 hours to cure, depending on the brand and environmental factors like temperature and humidity.
    🌟7. How do I secure the clock mechanism?
    Insert the mechanism through the drilled hole, attach the hands as per the instructions, and tighten the nut to hold it in place. Make sure the hands move freely and do not touch each other.
    🌟8. Can I add embellishments like glitter or dried flowers to my resin clock?
    Yes! Add embellishments to the resin mix or layer them during the pouring process. Use a toothpick or stick to position them as desired.
    🌟9. How do I ensure the resin is evenly spread across the clock surface?
    Pour the resin slowly in the center and spread it outward using a craft stick or spatula. A heat gun can help the resin self-level.
    🌟10. Is it necessary to seal the finished resin clock?
    No, resin creates a glossy, durable finish once cured, so no additional sealer is needed. However, if the edges need smoothing, sand lightly and add a thin resin layer for a polished look.

    How many coasters (4-5") can we make with 1.5kg epoxy resin?

    • @FluidArtwithErika
      @FluidArtwithErika  3 года назад

      Hi. I’m sorry, this video is for making a clock with the mold I used in the video. For your question, please refer to your specific coaster mold you will be using.
      To help determine how much your mold will hold, add water in your mold and then pour the water into a measuring cup. This will help with the math for 1.5kg resin size.
      I hope this helps ❤️🌵👍🏻

    Would painting with black paint or sharpie on the numbers work too?

    • @FluidArtwithErika
      @FluidArtwithErika  3 года назад

      Hi. I haven't tried to paint the numbers with black paint or sharpie. I am thinking it will not work because the resin needs to go into the mold to make them stand out. Since this video, I have learned a lot about UV Resin and I think this would be a better option to use for the numbers. UV Resin cures with a UV lamp or outside in the sunlight and there is no real time limit on how fast to fill the numbers as long as you work away from UV rays. And UV Resin can be colored to match your project. I hope this helps!

    what kind of polish i can use for resin that my resin become shiny ?
    thank you

    • @FluidArtwithErika
      @FluidArtwithErika  4 года назад +1

      Hi, I have not had to polish my resin to be shiny. If your resin mold is shiny then your cured resin piece will be shiny. If your mold is matte or not shiny then your cured resin piece will be matte or not shiny.
      Here is a video on how to polish not shiny pieces to make them shiny: ruclips.net/video/Tkhy-XexCF8/видео.html

    Have you ever gotten bubbles in the numbers... if so how did you sort them out.
    Thanks

    • @FluidArtwithErika
      @FluidArtwithErika  4 года назад

      Oh yes! The bubble can be a pain, lol! For the numbered cavities I fill slowly but if a bubble gets trapped I spritz isopropyl alcohol on them and they usually release. Sometime I use heat from a lighter which also helps. I hope this helps you! ❤️🌵✌🏻

      @FluidArtwithErika  3 года назад

      Hi! You are busy and it sounds like you need some fun creative time!
      I’m thinking UV resin will work just work in small sections so that the resin will fully cure with the light.
      Also, when coloring UV resin, be sure not to make the color a hard opaque, the light can’t pass through opaque colors. Let me know how yours turns out! ❤️🌵✌🏻

      @@FluidArtwithErika ok I'm a beginner I have never encountered resin before

    • @FluidArtwithErika
      @FluidArtwithErika  3 года назад

      Here is some of my tips for resin for beginners: www.deserthippiearts.com/my-top-10-resin-tips-for-beginners/
      I would definitely start with a smaller project. Here is one using a Tic Tac Toe mold: www.deserthippiearts.com/tic-tac-toe/ and here is another making bookmarks: www.deserthippiearts.com/resin-bookmarks/
      Either one of these would be good to start with because the areas are larger to fill, not small and intricate like the numbers on the clock. You can also use single color resin and create something useful and pretty.
      Since you are busy, you can probably do either one of these projects in an hour, let it cure 24 hours then demold, which probably takes under 20 minutes unless you are like me... I like to look and touch all the pieces lol!
      Have fun with whatever you do! I hope this helps you. ❤️🌵✌🏻

    Hello Desert Hippie Arts, Here's a tip on how not to have your resin harden or clump up like that, if you have a heating pad with 3 settings. Place a towel on the heating pad, and set to a low heat your resin won't clump up...Keep crafting fellow artist.
