I’m black and I’m with you. Was raised democrat but I’m more of a centrist with high traditionalist values but the Democratic Party is by far the biggest problem right now. My dad came to this country legally, stayed with family, worked until he could bring us here. My mom worked her ass off as soon as she got here and now she owns a house, has travel the world. Back in the day when old generations of migrants would come to the U.S it was the male head of the household that would come, rent a room or stay with family, work, save up as much as possible, rent a place out, then bring the wife and kids. The issue isn't that people are coming - the issue is that in the City (in particular) and in the state (in general), there's not enough homes for people -- but that means the solution is obvious: Build more places for people to live, and requisition the places that are intentionally being left vacant. There are all kinds of places that have near-city access (e.g. MetroNorth, LIRR, etc) that have a lot of real estate that could easily be leveraged to establish housing for people coming to NY, but instead these properties are often left in disrepair and under- or undeveloped, because the property owners are trying to cash out on these properties for damn near double what the property is actually worth.
Greed and poor resource management are the real issues here.

I hearing rumors about greedy landlords cashing in on renting to migrants. One Chicago female senior said her landlord told her if she didn't like the migrants making noise all night she could move out.

my problem with this issue is that they aren't vetted for criminal history, vaccination status or even the very fact that if they qualify as asylum seekers who are supposedly fleeing prosecution. Most of them are here for economic reasons and our broken system is being taken advantage of. We give them temporary lodging, cash assistance for family with children, medical and laundry services. Gov. Hochul has committed to spending billions for migrant assistance, and where's that money coming from and for how long can we keep this up? Stop giving them incentives to come here.

I live in N.Y. I have family that live on LongIsland .This has been happening in NY for a long time now. This has occurred in the past 6-7 yrs. I have seen single and double family homes with 25-40 people crowded on them. Mostly illegal hispanics crowded in one place. The face of the nieghborhood has changed. Prostitution, drugs, gang activities, and illegal affairs. If you fight for change you are terrorized. The police, towns, and council members just look the other way. Personally it smells like corruption, but your not allowed to speak on it or bring attention to it. I literally had a nieghbor that had turned a 3 bedroom home into a 30 people flop house. They also buy the Home depot sheds and rent them out. So there is 2-3 sheds in there back yard with people packed in them. A lot of the times the homes catch fire, because of electrical fires, or the circuits can' t handle all that charge. The area has turned dirty, smells dirty, look dirty. People hanging out drinking and throwing garbage, trash, used condoms, beer bottles, and drug paraphenilia everywhere. Loud hispanic music or reggatone, all days and hours of the night. They come on your property and hang out , liotering, and littering. The cops do nothing. They have no respect. This has been an ongoing problem that has been kept quiet. Meanwhile, veterans, the mentally ill, american , men , women , and children, who fell on hard times, are on the streets. Many of them living at bus stops, behind the stores, and wooded area. They are not being helped. They are being told the resources have been overwhelmed due to" economic migrants" aka illegals.
These are not illegals. They are 100% documented asylum seekers. DOCUMENTED..Also immigrants generally speaking go to low income high crime areas in NY because that's where the cheapest rents are found. They don't turn a wealthy area into a poor area. That happens because the immigrants from the past generations started doing better after a few generations and become wealthy enough to move out and unfortunately they take their businesses with them along with the jobs. That's when crime and poverty start to rise. I worked for U.S. Immigration in NY in the criminal fugitive alien unit and we would get the detainers from the state and county jails for recently arrested criminals. They were rarely undocumented as we had to verify them or they would be sent to detention and deportation unit and eventually held in a jail just for deportees. 99% of the people who were arrested were LEGAL CITIZENS.

I just got back from Guatemala. People are being lied to and are given false hope. I spoke to many and showed them what is NOT being showed on tv. Many are shocked and surprised because they were told different positive things. I blame the president, governor and mayor. They should have kept their mouths shut and this would have been less impact on city resources.

I think that any and all New Yorkers that support the idea of being a Sanctuary City should sign up to house migrant families in their own homes. Those who sign up to help should get a monthly payment directly from the City of NY to help offset costs. But I almost guarantee that if this type of program was created, most of the vocal New Yorkers who say they support NYC as a sanctuary, will not sign up in great numbers because it is very different when you actually have to do something.
I support being a Sanctuary City and am currently housing a woman until she's back on her feet, not a migrant but a former neighbor who could no longer afford rent. My friends and I have done this with friends and exes, all of whom are working again with families of their own. We can all stand to help one another once in a while ... someday it might be us who need the help.

These are NOT undocumented or "illegal aliens". Otherwise the Texas Governor would NOT have been legally permitted to put even one of them on a bus or he'd be charged with felony human trafficking. These 200k 100% LEGAL MIGRANTS instead of simply hopping the wall decided to present themselves at a legal U.S. Port of Entry before a U.S. Immigration Inspector and were deemed to meet the criteria for legal entry largely because they are coming from the specific countries that are most likely to be granted TPS status. Once they've entry is granted THE ENTIRE USA is their "sanctuary". They are free to go to ANY state from Wyoming to New Hampshire to Florida as long as they don't miss their court dates which they will not miss because they need those appearances for work permits and to maintain their protection against random arrest and deportation. People who complain that the undocumented need to do it the "right way" are treating these migrants as if they are doing the wrong way. How ridiculous.
