Hi lord muck, greetings from South longford southern Ireland 🇮🇪. My hubby William is a big fan of yours and George Saunders and loves to view your videos especially on the vintage trucks and the jcb fast tractors, keep them coming, cheers Helen.
Lovely. In the late seventies i hauled silage and spread muck with 384's / 270's . They certainly pulled well .As others have mentioned the brakes could be troublesome. There high road speed made them ideal for haulage.
Leyland always acquitted themselves well at the Long Sutton ploughing trials, the secret was Ballasting the tractor correctly , old photos show heavy front chassis weights, inner front wheel weights as well as water ballasted rear wheel weights. Having said that they suffered with poor brakes but the 4.98 engine was brilliant.
I agree with you on the 272 pulling power/grip thing. Contractor for my Father bought a new Leyland 272 (1977). It easily pulled the 4 furrow 14" conventional plough on slopped land. Despite a full set of weights the front wheels were 4 foot up in the air ploughing up the slope bits but still pulled away like a train ! Great machine in its day.
speaking from New Mexico USA - i love the channel - your eclectic activities are very instructive and fun. i didn't know you supported the collie rescue society - good show.
Good on you Mucker for what you are doing for the charity, I have a collie Jack, daft as a brush but wouldn't be with out him. What great breed. Great video keep them coming.
I'm new here too and love what you do and how you present it. The people who watch, don't like and whine about it (and watch again) would be the sort who deliberately colour outside the lines in their colouring book because the "lines are wrong". Cheers mate.
Great what you are doing for the dogs home, I’ve had collies for a long time the last one went blind but it never stopped him getting about the estate i work on, and I never thought of giving him up. Keep up the good work cheers 👍🚜
they were a great tractor! grew up driving a 255. would happily plod a long with a round silage bale on the front loader and one on the rear! steering was the main issue there :D
What a great thing you are doing. Love the old laylands and marshels. My dad used to drive for a haulage company in North Yorkshire called J D Ireland . They had a Leyland/ Marshall dealer ship on the same site as the wagons. I remember going to work with my dad in a morning and if we arriving back at the yard early enough he used to let me sit I tractors. So this video brings some amazing memories. Keep up the good work.
Loved it…funny, educational and entertainment in its own right. As a pilot I would love to see more of your aviation related stuff…but quite honestly love everything you do. Keep it coming please!
What a great cause and a lovely idea. I enjoy all your videos, so much variety of topics. I grew up in a rural community and remember the old tractors, Masseys, David Brown etc. Keep up the good work mucker.
Good evening me lord, It looks like it’s going to be a great Project looking forward to seeing it finished, you take care of yourself and stay safe and well. 🌈🌈🚜🚜👍.
Well done with your purchase we had a 272 synchro it was a great tractor pulled and gripped really well. Our only issue was the brakes used to play up when we left it unused for a while. New master cylinders sorted that problem apparently it’s a common fault. I know you’ll probably check it before it leaves your workshop 😊. Looking forward to seeing your progress. Good luck 🤞
Nice vid great to see such a kind hearted gesture for the dogs home good on you We had the same problem with a old Massey 185 the engine cracked the block and we got a replacement engine out of an insurance claim for a excessive oil usage 4 pints of oil a day on a loader tractor the old guy let it idle all the time to save fuel and glazed the bores We put it in the 185 straight on the mower conditioner for 3 days went from 4 pints of oil to near nothing boy did it stink of burnt oil for the first day or so it was running out of the exhaust but cured it
It's actually a mud-out, not a muddo. Similar, but more polite than a rake out or rod out. Polite enough to use at tea with the vicar. For example, it's perfectly acceptable to exclaim "Jeez Vic, I've over-done the tea and biscuits something cruel and must hurry off for a right good mud-out before choir practice this evening"
Funny how I knew there was a fresh episode and it didn’t come up in my notifications so I typed you in and hey presto! Great news and I had a thought about my childhood and how my life was all about BRITIANS TOY TRACTORS and boy I had a collection!!
I heard from a farmer his Leyland has a great turning radius for its size and power. You don't see many in Canada, but they are around if you look for them. To be brought across the pond must mean that some farmers thought a lot of them.
Razzle, now that brings back memories, stopping in lay-bys finding old w#nk mags, only thing was that all the pages were stuck together with pva glue...
Wow, that was a terrific trip down memory lane , had a friend many years back who was leyland mad, had quite a few & those experiences had set my mind thinking about your mystery tractor 🚜. Had an idea it was an explorer cab , but was surprised it would be a 602 model, not come across that until now , for some reason don’t know why really but I love leyland stuff, lorries, vans , the god dam stuff seemed to never die, just the body work around it rotted away ????? Perhaps it’s that it’s easy engineering , reliable if maintenance is done & no technology interfering !!!!A wonderful thing you are doing for the collie dog charity & now going straight to buy my t-shirt to help support your channel, Thankyou for what you do for the viewer !👍👍👍👍👍👍
@@LordMuck oh, CHEERS MATE! I actually figured given the size of your channel, you probably would never get to even see my comment, so, very much appreciated! What's the next project in your thoughts mate?
Well done on the tractor for the collies. I will buy a couple of T shirts. I'm down in OZ so not sure if you site accommodates that. I will speak to my daughter in Cornwall.
Fair play to your dedication especially all things mechanical wish I had your enthusiasm and skills enjoy watching but wishing I had the ability to do what you do.🪄🪄🪄🪄
Good on you Mucker, hope you get to raise all the funds you need from the T-shirt’s, I’ve ordered a couple along with some other bits and bobs, so hope it helps you out a little on getting the Leyland were you would like it to be. Good man 🐶🚜👍👌
Great cabs the explorer..my first experience of driving a tractor was a Marshall 802..they had some leylands but blue 272 and at farm college sheep farm had a 1290 which I got to drive…
Took a rescue collie for walk.Got to safe place and let him off his lead.Off he trotts,i called him, nothing,i ran after him(lol)no chance. Then spent half an hour driving round trying to find him(stopping asking people ect ect)and getting very worried.Eventualy went back and found him in his wendy house.I have never been so releived in my life.It turned out he was deaf, and i mean stone deaf.Cheers mate. thumbs up.
I have always thought that the Leyland engines were underrated, Leyland made some of the best engines in the world but as is the norm people judge equipment and vehicles by therire arses so the likes of Volvo and DAF etc won out, I chose those two because at the time they started to gain favor over Leyland trucks Leyland made the engines for them or at least the blocks.
Great channel, great tractor choice for great charity👍nice working clothes Leyland tractor. I see you have vid of MF combine, my uncle had MF 860 with Perkins V8 diesel with 24ft front, do miss old girl harvesting but he now operate a MF 8780 XP.
Is there a way of donating to the tractor fund without receiving any merch in return? More profit that way.

The t-shirts are legit-donate and show some LM PRIDE!
What an amazing thing to do Muck. The collies will appreciate it.

I've being watching from Mississippi, USA for a couple of months now, and, I love it !!!! 🔥👍🇺🇸🇬🇧
Cheers ! 🇺🇸🇬🇧👌🏼
Wonderful little tractor. As a kid we had a couple of 272’s and a 472 that I cut my teeth on. I would love to restore an 804 / 904. Terrific sound.

Great video, good on you for helping them out.
That’s an amazing initiative to undertake. It’s not often people give back these days. Tends to be a one way street these days.

Well done Buh take my hat of to you . i think the old Leyland was not such a bad tractor .spent a lot of time on a 272 and a Nuffield 1060happy days
Nice to see the 602! Dad used a 270 and before that a Nuffield 4/65, both pulled well and did have good grip as you say.
another great video, was loads of them and 702 in ireland in the 80s and 90s
Excellent video thank you for your time and consideration 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
thanks for doing this for the dogs. they need it more than some people do. and there more thankful for it. love all the vids. thanks mate.

Brilliant video kurt, what a great gesture for the dogs, as you say I'm sure there money would be better spent on the dogs than getting grass cut.
Fantastic cause, your a mighty man
A love border collie very intelligent dog used
to have one . I must buy some Mitch

A great mystery tractor and great idea to use it for . Mucker you are a star 🚜👍
Nice one. Underrated tractors. I've had a 270 and currently have a late 384 running my topper. Simple to work on and generally reliable.
Tom looks a lot like our Missy who isn't totally blind but near enough, she's happy out going part of the family.

Only found your channel this week while bored on an evening working away from home. Looking forward to watching ALL your videos.
Welcome to all the new people buckle up because your in for one hell of a experience
OOOH! Leyland. After County and Ford, my third favorite classic tractor brand.
That's a nice thing to do mate. Your very thoughtful. It's a nice old machine. 👍
Nice old tractor and another great video. Also great what you do for the dogs. The t shirt is a belter 👌

No doubt with the aid of a Stanley blade you persevered and were able to stretch your calf muscles
