Hey crew do you use orthotics? If so what kind?

I typically get custom molded from my local running store, but with COVID I'm nervous to go through the molding process. I just ordered a pair of Superfeet Run Comforts, we will see!

Since I made this video I've had a bunch of people recommend Superfeet. Definitely going to look it to them.

Good info.! Thanks! The orthotics my podiatrist prescribed have changed, so I may try the Dr. Scholls.

I have hear nothing but good things about those "custom" fit Dr. Scholls. are they perfect? no. But they are a nice cheap start.

You should never wear orthotics with stability or motion control shoes. They might try and correct your feet too much and thus make things worst

I do believe that you need to make your foot stronger, so you do need times where you don't wear the orthotics. Lately I've been doing no orthotics on easy day slow runs. Then wearing orthotics for all of my running workouts. I have also been doing my strength training barefoot. There is no plyometrics in that strength training. Just core work, mobility, and balance.

@@TyEpicReagan Thanks for the swift reply on this. Im a big fan of vivobarefoot shoes and so have been trying to strengthen my feet but it hasnt made much different to my ankles which always seem to hurt no matter what I do!

@@trailrunningphil You have to except that even if your ankles, tendons, and muscle are strong, they still get tired and worn out after workouts. When you are flat footed the inside of the ankle is always getting over extended, that's why doctors recommend orthotics. After thousands of repetitions of pulling on those muscles every day, us runners can get an over use injury quick. So when using barefoot shoes you need to know what is appropriate training for your current level and not over use that area.
