Fun fact: My cousin and I crashed the Wright family Christmas party back in 2007. We walked right into their mansion (in Oakwood, I think) and started looking around as everyone was there celebrating. Amanda eventually found us, asked if we were family and told us to leave. I saw Steven coming down the stairs as we were at the front door about to leave. My cousin had worked in the house when it was a museum...it had recently been returned to the family.
I think the best way to visit the Airforce Museum is to take it one hangar at a time. Take the tour, read the plaques, watch the videos, study the displays. There is so much to take in. Every time I go, there is something new or something changes. It's a tremendous resource...and it's free.
I've been been to the Air Force Museum with one of my best friends who lives a couple of hours to the northwest closer to Toledo. Magnificent place. Loved standing next to those rocket replicas. I enjoy visiting the nicer parts of Ohio and think it's an underrated place to live.
I didn't realize Dayton is only half the size of Fort Wayne...speaking of The Fort - if your thing is automobiles instead of airplanes, there's a town by the name of Auburn near here that hosts 2 neat museums: the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Museum, and the National Automotive & Truck Museum of the United States (NATMUS). Not free, but $15 gets you into both museums for the day (they're right next to each other) and a 2-day pass is available at a discount if you're local.
I was born at Good Sam in Cincinnati. My father moved our family to Pittsburgh in the early eighties and I’ve been here ever since. I’ll always have SW Ohio in my blood though!
Marions pizza, submarine house, skyline chili, old hickory barbeque. Dive bars everywhere. Oregon is a bunch of liberal aging hipsters but Dayton isnt all bad. Just never go to the west side!
I live in a small rust belt city called Belleville IL. Places like Belleville Dayton seem more real made also made me more Stoic. Also Growing up in the rust belt there were a lot of emo and gothic girls during my highschool years. Compared to Florida were spent a lot of time with my mom.
I can't complain. It's been stupid cheap to live in the area. I dislike the city itself but the surrounding area is easily affordable depending on where you look and go.
I've lived in Cinci, worked in Hamilton and Middletown, but never visited Dayton for some reason. Went to Columbus a few times and Athens once. Athens was pretty cool, but it is just another college town with the same Big 10 layout. Reminded me of a wannabe Bloomington, IN where I went to college. Or is Bloomington a wannabe Athens? I really enjoyed Columbus. Middletown (home of JD Vance) is weird. Yes, it's a busted Rust Belt town, but you aren't going to get shot while pumping gas or anything. I never felt unsafe driving to work or walking to my office. The downtown (where my office was located) is like a ghost town. Author Andersen Prunty frequently sets his horror novels here.
Also, Blind Bob's reminds me of this place we had in Newport, KY called The Jockey Club. Black Flag, Big Black, Samhain and all the punk greats somehow managed to play there in the 80s. 50 cent Wiedeman's or an oil can of Fosters for a buck. Of course, I was too young for Jockey Club, but some of the older punks in Cinci would pine for the days it was hopping.
Seen the same article, Raymond. Low and behold you do a video on it ! You know i live in Wayne county. To be honest i never been to Dayton so i don't have a persevtive. Thanks for sharing and if i do go ill stay away from the east side. Same with Cleveland. Stay away from the east Cleveland:)
@@johnthomas753 Merry Christmas I live in Florida but a buddy from down here moved to Mansfield and he works in Wooster. I visited there and loved it. Cool small town feel.

I gripe about taxes but at least my "hood" is ethnically 92% my own. No crime! Imagine that.

The west side can be entertaining at least 😂
Living in Northern Kentucky, can confirm on the cost of living.
