- Roughly 80 percent of transactions in the country are being done in the U.S. dollar. According to economy expert, Dr Prosper Chitambara, the dollarization option is not a palatable one for Zimbabwe's central bank or the finance ministry.

But is it? If you can't redeem the Ziggy for the gold then it's not actually backed by gold. Remember the bearer cheques which expired and then the "SPECIAL AGRO CHEQUES" 😂 Then the one cent note, which on the very day it was released required a literal ten tonne truck loaded with one cent notes just to equate to the hundred trillion note, which was released at the exact same time as the one cent note!!!? It's just a reset. The currency is not redeemable in gold. It's all just cheap talk. As Tendai Biti said, it's just the same as removing zeros, it will worsen things. Special agro cheques, expiring "bearer cheques", bond notes, basket this and that, Ziggy zaggy, what hasn't been tried?
