  • Me at the organ of Reedswood Methodist Church in Walsall, West Midlands. Im playing the hymn "Christ is the worlds light" to the tune "Christe Sanctorum". Towards the end of the hymn steward Brenda can be seen preparing the communion for tommorow mornings service - a nice touch to this video I thought! The organ was originally built by the local firm Nicholson and Lord and has the original specification:
    PEDAL
    Bourdon 16'
    GREAT
    Open Diapason 8'
    Stopped Diapason Bass 8'
    Stopped Diapason Treble 8'
    Dulciana 8'
    Principal 4'
    Wald Flute 4'
    SWELL
    Gedact 8'
    Viol d' Amour 8'
    Gemshorn 4'
    COUPLERS
    Swell to Pedal
    Swell to Great
My thanks must go to Horace and Brenda Brisbourne for arranging me access to this fine organ!
UPDATE: Reedswood sadly closed in 2013. The fate of the organ is unknown.

Interestingly enough, part of this tune was used in the mass at Lourdes. Given that this hymn is from a Methodist background it was unexpected (tho' I should mention that different words were used).
