Love watching your vids Simon, I've been learning a lot since I started watching regularly and I'm excited to see what else you have in store for us! Much love :)
very nice lick indeed! Thanks! It seems using a minor triad or pentatonic scale a 5th over a dominant or min7 chord is quite common in jazz then, right?
I'm a classical piano player being seeing your video I try to improve the free style jazz my friend is a Jazz player after I see your video I tried something with this my friend said he is impressed
shifting form a classical pianist to a contemporary one is hard as you wont get accustomed to the style and practical stuff. but it will take time. remember, one step at a time. don’t get overwhelmed by the vast topics and tread slowly! happy practicing! 🤙
Hello! I would like to say that you have taught my everything I know about jazz piano so far, and you will continue to teach me. I just wanted to show my appreciation for you, and this channel, along with ask a question. I was thinking of listening to some other jazz pianist to learn from what they do, and implement it to what I do, (pretty sure I heard you say something like that before) and I was wondering if you have any recommendations for me. If it helps, my favorite type of jazz is a kind of almost funky, if you know what I mean. I might be using the term jazz wrong, but what your doing is definitely my favorite. Anyway, cheers ❤ Edit: I think what I'm referring to is blues piano, so if you have recommendations for *blues pianists* to listen to.
thelonious monk is a favourite of all. also fats waller. remember, listening is part of practice! it sub consciously registers the sound and notes in your brain, so it will definitely help you improve (im speaking from experience here as a singer). also, if you are into Neo soul, check out a channel called Noah Kellman. he also does these types of tutorials. happy practiciting! 🤩
Glad you've been finding the channel useful! A great player to get into when starting out listening to jazz is Oscar Peterson. Easy to listen to and very bluesy. Check out his album 'We Get Requests' 🙂
@@benimoo7894 I heard about Monk on a on a list of jazz pianists to listen to, will definitely give him a listen, along with the channel you mentioned, thank you!
Omg I finally see your face and you look like one of my fav 90s n early 2000s action comedy star Brandon Fraser.Im a huge fan of him and slowly starting to be your fan too.
Hi Simon, do you have your own recorded music (albums) or are you only teaching? If you have, where can I find it, I would love to listen to it? Greetings from Croatia
S5 Episode 8 minute 20:11 of family guy one of the best episodes ever. SUPER RANDOM but at the end of the episode quagmire is teaching meg about relationships there is a SEXY jazz line and was wondering if you could work your magic and teach it?? Trust me it's really nice

Can you do a tutorial for that whole part you showed in that Insta vid? Sounds so sick and not too tough
It reads: Download Notation.
I read it: Unload Donation
LOL
very very very smooth .... Pal (:
the second part sounds like "the lick"
Actually the second part chords are the real (of course sexy) answer ;) You should have implemented them in the video!
Wow Amazing 👏🏾✨
I bet you're stoked for Kiefer coming to your neighborhood in February '22!! 😎🙌🏼
Haha I certainly am! Will definitely be there 😎🕺
That's Awesome 🥰❣️
I used this lick to get me out of a speeding ticket

I read the title as "The Sexist Jazz Lick" and was confused for a minute 🤣
lmfao music especially jazz slang is so weird to be honest 🤓😂
One of the hottest riffs
🐷🐷🐷
Try micheal Burrell! Ur welcome
Always great content on this channel, thanks Simon! 🎶💯
I don't know if someone told you, probably yes, but you look like Luciano Pavarotti
Thank you very much for this video tutorial.
You're welcome 🙂
Did you play this off the top of your head when you played it on Instagram or did you take time to learn it? Either way, loved the video ❤️
El mejor Lick que escuchado.
Why does early jazz (20s and 30s, like Hanshaw, Etting) sound so different from 40s (Sinatra) and today's jazz? What were they using?
I read the title as “the SEXIST jazz lick” and was like WTF 🤨 😂😂😂
Nice one
It’s great just the notation makes a bit confuse tho. If the G is one, then the pick up bar should be showed right?
The notation is just a rough guide, the main point is that you land on G on the beat.
@@Piano_Pig yes~ great content and I do enjoy ur playing! Respect!

Why the chromatic passing note from F natural to G natural? What inspired you to do that?
Great vid but don't like the ending of the second part 😉 but I guess adjust to taste right, as everything in life :)
Dude totally tasty! 😎 👍
Thanks Warren! 🎹🐷
YES!!!!
Thank you so much bro! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻✨
love you and thank you soooooo much, blessing us with these

Ik I'm not the only one who read sexist
Nice lesson.
I’m going to try it out later.
Thanks 🙏
Dope bro. Thanks for sharing
I first read sexist jazz licks lol
DUUUUDe that tshirt is awesome!!!!!
what are the notes if it’s cminor?
Nice video. Keep sharing. Can’t wait for your new video
There will be a new one in a couple of days 🙂
I read this as sexist jazz lick
Sounds like Billie Holiday's all of me. Or they're just in the same key?
Ps. I'm a beginner in music esp, jazz.
Love the video, love the concept. Not even close to the sexiest sounding lick I've ever heard.

I post a lot of my instrumental stuff on my instagram page, and I'm hoping to release an album at some point this year :)
@@Piano_Pig Great! 👍

agree. these days high quality lessons are accessible free to anyone, anywhere. makes us realise we shouldn’t take these advantages for granted.

Nice thanks. I will probably try to use this
Very sex indeed

Very nice
I think we all know what the true sexiest lick is
Gross.
But what’s the bar after the lick? Sounds so good as a follow-up to this lick!
Playing around with some drop2 voicings. Maybe I'll make a video on that soon as well 🙂

Gm7, Dm7, Ebmaj7, Ddim7
cool but sexy?🤣

Can you teach
Any blues Scale
Already have, check it out here: ruclips.net/video/CjJwxtahGtw/видео.html
the formula for the blues scale is:
1-b3-4-b5-5-b7-1
the b means flat.
you can apply this formula to any major scale you want.
happy practicing! 🤓

Calling this vibe “sexy” is very subjective..
bruh it’ jazz slang. a bunch of weird phrases out there but it makes sense once you understand jazz :)
